Query on reverts[edit]

Hello. Just curious as to why you did not issue any warnings after you reverted all five of the edits made by Deevee337 (talk · contribs) yesterday. Thanks, Kralizec! (talk) 17:39, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I was wondering that myself. Landon1980 (talk) 19:49, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
heh, well there is a simple reply, if its a Vandalism-only Account, warning them will be of no use although it will increase your edit count and warning a VoA will just make them vandalise more, so in the end its better to just revert, block and Ignore..--Cometstyles 00:31, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Many admins -including me- are disinclined to block editors who have not been warned, especially as the instructions at the top of the WP:AIV page specifically state that editors "must be given sufficient recent warnings to stop." One may also note that while the WP:RBI essay is an excellent way to hand serial sockmasters and spammers, the official policy on blocking states that we need to make sure that editors are "aware of policies, and give them reasonable opportunity to adjust their behaviour accordingly, before blocking." --Kralizec! Hi Cometstyles. FYI. Always worth looking at the history. -- zzuuzz (talk) 13:08, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

ahh, all I saw was the user blanking section by section of that article, very common nowadays..sorry for the error ...--Cometstyles 13:12, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I noticed you'd spent some time reverting this indeff blocked user's talk page.[1] I shouldn't bother doing this sort of thing in future. The user can now only edit their own user pages and editors are usually allowed to remove warnings and such like from their talk pages if they want to, usually it is considered bad form to revert a user on their own talk/user page. The notifications on the page have not been lost, they still exist in the page history, and often the removal of warnings from user pages is taken as evidence that these warnings have been noted and read by the user in question. It's a bit difficult for a user to claim that they didn't see a warning, when they have removed it from their page themselves. This user will get fed up soon enough when they only have their own user page to edit. In future I suggest you just leave them to it. All the best. Alun (talk) 13:07, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
