conformational business[edit]

The writing is not very good and in places misleading. So I recommend slowing down and asking. You dont seem to understand some concepts. Also, the term does not apply only to organic chem.--Smokefoot (talk) 14:18, 26 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi thanks for the note and sense of cooperation, I will look over the recent addition in about 10 hours or so, right now I am at work. Your reliance on Eliel is an excellent choice. More later,--Smokefoot (talk) 17:45, 26 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I edited your contribution, but my advice is not to try to write a long essay on a topic that you are just learning. Your contributions were excellent as a student essay, but not at the current standards of Wikipedia-chem. Specifically, your contributions were narrow (hydrocarbon focus), contained much tangential information (Boltzman population is not central), mixed concepts (spectroscopy and structure), and revealed a still evolving grasp of time scales and equilibria. My recommendation is to only write short pieces for Wikipedia-chem, because you might lack the breadth that comes with experience (and unfortunately age). If you are under pressure to write something long for your class, then ask the teacher to contact me. Having said all of those semi-critical comments, your understanding and ambitions are highly admirable. You might look around for other articles where you could apply information from Eliel's classic book to other topics.--Smokefoot (talk) 17:16, 27 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
