WikiProject Professional wrestling newsletter message

It has recently been brought to the attention of WP:PW that the newsletter is being to delivered to several users who have not been actively editing for several months. As a result, their talk pages have become increasingly large, unmanageable and slow to load due to a lack of archiving.
In response, this message is being sent to all editors listed in Category:WikiProject Professional wrestling participants to say that anyone who does not list their name at Wikipedia:WikiProject Professional wrestling/Newsletter/Active before May 16 will be automatically listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Professional wrestling/Newsletter/Nospam, and will no longer receive the newsletter or any notification of it. If you are added to Wikipedia:WikiProject Professional wrestling/Newsletter/Nospam, please feel free to remove your name if you desire.
If you wish to continue receiving the newsletter as normal, please add your name to Wikipedia:WikiProject Professional wrestling/Newsletter/Active. If you simply wish to receive notification of a new issue, but not have the full newsletter delivered to your talk page, please add your name to the notification only list.
If you have any queries please contact me at my talk page or leave a message at WT:PW. Thank you for your co-operation. ♥NiciVampireHeart♥ 00:36, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Hi. I've noticed you have been adding players from the Cleveland Browns to days of the year pages. This worries me a bit. I'm not sure that everyone that is on the current roster is really notable on a WP:DOY page. I apologize I haven't looked back to see the link, but at least one person you have added has never actually played a professional football game in his career. With DOY pages my own guidelines (not official, just my gut feeling) include considering whether the inclusion of a specific person would imply a huge number of other people would also be just as notable. If every player on the Browns' current roster is notable for a DOY page, why not any athlete at all currently on a team, or even former athletes? I don't intend to revert your additions, but what do you think? Cheers. Winston365 (talk) 05:43, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

Completely true! And I am actually planning on going through as many pro sports teams as I can, I just don't have a lot of free time, so it will most likely take a long time. I also did some work on the date pages with MLB players a few years back. I just started with the Browns because I tend to follow them. I'll get there! Thanks! Thanks for the reply, but I think you may have misunderstood my point. My worry is that DOY pages will become far too long if every athlete is included regardless of his history. I don't think every NFL player is notable, and more importantly DOY pages should include people that will remain notable; athletes should have their notability well established on their article page before being included on a DOY page, as opposed to including them in case they ever become more notable than being on a particular team. I'd think adding an athlete to a DOY page should at least preclude a notable individual award, or some significant coverage from a secondary source. Winston365 (talk) 06:12, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
Well, there really should be a clear cut guideline for this sort of thing, but my feeling is that the majority of players are notable. There needs to be a criteria for all people to be run through to be placed on the date pages. Until that type of page is in place, I'll proceed. Well, my bed is calling. Good night to you. I agree a clearer guideline is needed. WP:DOY#Births and deaths is rather vague. My bed is calling me as well tho, and there is no rush at all about this. Good night. Winston365 (talk) 06:47, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
