Speedy deletion nomination of Humanizing Psychiatry

As reviewing administrator, I removed the speedy tag. I also moved the article to the person's name and combined it with the article for the first book. As he wrote several books, he is clearly more important that either of them, & the article is more likely to survive. I know you intended to write the bio of the author, but let me explain:

By our usual standards, an article about a book, linking to an extensive online preview, and giving a very extended summary of the book, is generally considered promotional. The articles you wrote are designed to promote his argument, not just tell us about it. The section on a book, or even article on it if there were to be one, should be explain his ideas, but only with the intent to let us understand them, not convince us. That's the difference between promotional and informative. I think you would find it easier doing it in one article that is unlikely to be challenged. (I feel this way about all expositions of belief here--many of the articles on individual non fiction books err in the same way yours' did, and I try to reduce them to encyclopedic content also The principle here is proportionate coverage. See the article on The Interpretation of Dreams, which I think does it just right, and you will have to admit that at least at present it is a much more famous work. Yet the article does not promote his theories. Nor does it devote much space to the general background and common ideas being discussed. What I think you now need to do is to reduce the material on the books to a similar measure.

You are of course at liberty to revert my merge and my redirects, but if you do I shall nominate both books for deletion at AfD. What happens at AfD is unpredictable, but I suspect the result is likely to be to redo the merge. ( if you follow this course, let me advise you to at least write the bio before you do that, which cannot but strengthen your case a little, and will avoid the possibility of everything being deleted. Nomination of Niall McLaren for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Niall McLaren is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
