Welcome![edit]

Hello, Chloecaviness, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! ~ ToBeFree (talk) 17:33, 17 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

July 2019[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you recently removed maintenance templates from Eric M. Verdin. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Please see Help:Maintenance template removal for further information on when maintenance templates should or should not be removed. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. creffett (talk) 22:17, 22 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

creffett Hi. I believe the issue has been addressed so I felt it was safe to remove those warning boxes. We added secondary sources and both myself and my colleague @Irenepark89 disclosed that we are affiliated with the Buck Institute. If you believe the issue has not been addressed, can you please let me know what you suggest in terms of edits so that we can get this resolved and have those warning boxes removed? Thank you so much! chloecaviness
As a paid representative of the company you are not to edit the article directly going forwards. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 19:52, 23 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Doc JamesPlease then let me know how we can rectify this? I believe that we added the sufficient secondary sources, right? What else needs to be edited in order to have these warning boxes removed? Please let me know. chloecaviness Doc James I have contacted you several times and you haven't responded and someone else said i needed to explain my edit so that implies i can edit and explain and that's what i did. I'm not trying to cause any problems. I just want to resolve Eric Verdin's page so that it does not appear to have issues. Please let me know. thank you. chloecaviness

(courtesy ping Doc James, I don't know if the above notified you) I reverted the template removal and commented that it was "unexplained" because I was unaware of your relationship to the company at the time, and because explaining the removal of that sort of template is a minimum requirement. You cannot and should not edit the article because you aren't just in a conflict of interest position but are in fact a paid editor. You have properly disclosed your paid status on your user page, which is good, but it means people are going to be keeping a very close eye on your edits. I refer you to the COI editing rules - in particular, "you are strongly discouraged from editing affected articles directly" (emphasis original). You are welcome to make edit requests on the article's talk page (see the previous link to the editing rules for an explanation of that), but you should not be editing the article directly. Also, the plain and simple COI guide (yes, I know, there are a lot of these) is a very useful reference guide.
To be clear, this isn't punishment for anything you've done, and you aren't in trouble. These COI rules exist because Wikipedia is a place for neutral presentation of facts, not for companies to make sure "their" page and pages related to them look good. Companies have a habit of adding promotional material about themselves, removing things that reflect poorly on them, and generally trying to own "their" page, all of which are incompatible with Wikipedia's purpose and rules. creffett (talk) 00:31, 24 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

creffett Thanks for the response. I appreciate the explanation. I still don't understand how we go about getting this warning box removed. Please advise. I understand that my position in the company is a hindrance to making changes to my CEOs page and i respect that. i just would like to understand what steps i CAN take to fix this issue. Thank you so much! chloecaviness (talk)

You generally do not go about working to have it removed. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 06:44, 24 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
