Signing posts[edit]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button or located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you.

removing other editors' content from talk pages[edit]

Hello, please refrain from editing another editor's discussion comments as you did here [1]. This is considered very poor form on Wikipedia. For guidelines on the few cases where such actions are appropriate, please see Wikipedia:Talk#Others.27_comments. Regards, --Wikimedes (talk) 20:26, 8 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the message. I don't like my website or company linked to the word spam as our reputation is important to us and someone saying we are a spammy website is not accurate but an opinion that is in a very public forum. I would like to have our website link removed, what can I do to have it removed?

I don't think that removing it is an option. It will be moved to the archives in about 60 days. You are free to express your disagreement with Anna Frodesiak's description of the website as "spammy".--Wikimedes (talk) 10:34, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Response to query about Next Step China[edit]

Here is my analysis of the article and its references. My conclusion has not been altered by the review.

  • 1. This article is not relevant to anything, it is about marketing strategy
  • 2. This is self-serving media interview no analysis.
  • 3. This article is irrelevant, it is about keeping banking transactions safe
  • 4. Another interview type article with no analysis of anything or comment on anything
  • 5. This is the Better Business Bureau, this is its Disclaimer - BBB accreditation does not mean that the business' products or services have been evaluated or endorsed by BBB, or that BBB has made a determination as to the business' product quality or competency in performing services.
  • 6. This is a report in an alumni paper about a college rah rah session with the president. Of zero value
  • 7. This is a self-serving bio by the subject’s founder on the university’s alumni promotional career services page also of zero value
  • 8. Alma mater magazine giving positive spin in an article that basically amounts to an interview piece but written in the third person.
  • 9. A minor mention of the subjects founder.
  • 10. This is a popularity contest where a business lists itself then has ‘likes’ – of zero value
  • 11. An article about a two year old award that says nothing about the business – Deals almost exclusively with the founder of the business. Not relevant
  • 12. This article obliquely references the name of the business and assistance provide by the business owner. It is of no import about the notability of this business
  • 13. This merely republishes the oblique reference in the previous article. It is an article about Centre College and its efforts to have students study in China
  • 14. The website of the business, not considered a reliable source as it is promotional
  • 15. This is a flattering article in the alumni news. It is mostly about the business owner and features a picture of the article published in no.8 above.

This is what I wrote when I declined the article.

Comment: The references do not support the notability of the subject. A number of the references are about interviews with the principal of the subject firm and are not independent assessments. The BBB assessment is qualified by its disclaimer. Other references are connected directly or indirectly with the subject. The article is effectively a promotion of the subject business, not an encyclopedic article.

Further Comment

I have given my view of all of the references. They do not support the Notability requirement. They are mostly about the company’s officer. There is practically nothing about the company. This is likely because it is a one officer, one shareholder company. Perhaps some other editor will think differently.

Thanks for the reply I appreciate it. Although, these are your opinion what we did on this page was EXACTLY what someone else did on another wikipedia article. Please refer to this website and to the references. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Chinese_Language_Institute I don't see how our page is ANY different than that page. In fact, I have more references and more credibility. Please do the SAME analysis of that other page to see what they did write and how that compares to us. Thanks!
