Replaceable fair use File:The Plazas At El Con In 2013-14.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:The Plazas At El Con In 2013-14.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 23:05, 1 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Categories[edit]

Hi there, in case you're not already aware, when you add categories to articles [1][2] the categories must first be created or already in existence. And, there has to be an obvious reason why the category was added, which means that there should be sourced prose in the article that is consistent with the category. So at All Grown Up! for instance, there is no context in the article that supports the addition of Category:Television shows set in San Bernardino County, California. Please note WP:CAT for more info. Thanks, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 02:24, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please consider carefully whether you should create a category or not. If there's only a few articles that fit into a category (or, even worse, only one), it's likely to be overcategorization. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 23:09, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Don’t worry, I’m sure they’ll fill up with pages over time. I’ll even do my part of contributing to it.

The problem is when you create so many tiny, barely-used categories, it actually makes Wikipedia categories harder to use. It's better to have one category with a dozen articles in it than to have seven or eight categories with a very small number of entries. Please see WP:SMALLCAT. I would suggest that you discuss this somewhere before you create any more categories. WT:FILM would be the most obvious place. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 01:24, 31 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Category issues again.[edit]

Hi, on three occasions you've added Category:Television shows set in Yucaipa, California to All Grown Up! [3][4][5] without first being sure there is content in the article that supports the addition. When do you plan to fix this? As I mentioned yesterday, there must be an obvious reason for these cats to be added, and there is not one yet. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 03:59, 1 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Actually at the Rugrats article there is a ref for the location being Yucaipa. I'm not sure if the same ref would work for "All Grown Up" or not (although obviously since all the same characters are present they are still in the same location), nor am I at all familiar with Wikipedia category policies, but I feel that one, this is a new user making significant contributions to the project, and two, this is simply a category on a very low level article about an obscure animated series, that no action needs to be taken and no fixes need to be made. Good faith edits need good faith responses. Beach drifter (talk) 04:39, 1 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Beach drifter I saw the ref in the Rugrats! article. I think it only raises more questions for me. Here is the diff that changed it: [6] "...Didi, who is a teacher, takes Tommy to her class at Eucaipah High School, referencing the city of Yucaipa, California.[12]" The spelling is oddly different considering the actual city was already printed there. Not sure what to make of it. Still, per WP:CAT there has to be an obvious reason why a cat is added to an article, so if a super-specific cat about Yucaipa is added, there should be content that supports that. I've encountered numerous cat adders who seem to gloss over this point and they wind up having the bulk of their work reverted. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:49, 1 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't move articles that use the wrong apostrophe. Per WP:', straight (or typewriter) apostrophes are to be used. English keyboards do not have curly apostrophe's. You also turned the wikilink red in several articles because they all use the straight apostrophe.

I also cleaned up your mess when you changed all the apostrophes in List of law enforcement agencies in Arizona. You turned alot of blue links to red links in the county section. Bgwhite (talk) 05:43, 5 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I was listing the coordinates that the center of the original town site is located at. At this site, just type in C.O.T. & open the documents from Pages 70 & 71 of Book 3. — Preceding unsigned comment added by an unknown user 12:00, 20 November 2015‎
Nothing but a dead link there. Please explain how you came up with those coordinates. Magnolia677 (talk) 22:54, 20 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
A town's original coordinates may or may not have anything to do with the geographical center of a town now. Many times, the town hall or city hall is used for the coordinates. Please make sure the coordinates you use are relevant to today, and not simply historical in nature. BMK (talk) 01:08, 29 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Renaming of town[edit]

At this edit you changed Elko, New York to Elko, Cattaraugus County, New York, and left an edit summary "in New York, New England & Wisconsin, the name of the county is always included when writing the address of a town". What policy are you referring to?

Also, you continue to change the geo-coordinates on city articles, but have still not provided a source for your geo-coordinates. Please respond before making additional edits. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 04:49, 27 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Why are you changing the coordinates of cities in a way that is rather inexplicable (what target are your moving to?), and why are you moving town articles without first discussing the move on the talk page of the article? BMK (talk) 01:04, 29 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I see from the above that you are using the coordinates of the original location. Please don;t do that anymore. Also, when you answer someone use a series of colons (:) to indent your answer for easier reading, finally put four tildes {~~~~} at the end of your comment and the system with automatically add the date and time. BMK (talk) 01:14, 29 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No, it is not "always proper to include the name of the county" in articles about towns or townships. Unless there is more than one town in the state by the same name, and the county name is needed to disambiguate between them, the name of the town and the state are sufficient. Please do not continue to move articles to the "town, county, state" format unnecessarily. And please don;t communicate only through edit summaries, especially when questions have been raised on your talk page -- that's what we have talk pages for. A tag has been placed on West Farms, Westchester County, New York requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about something invented/coined/discovered by the article's creator or someone they know personally, and it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Huntington[edit]

You moved Huntington, New York to Huntington, Suffolk County, New York based on the rationale that "It’s standard protocol to include the name of the county if it’s a town in New York, New England or Wisconsin or a township." I would argue that is untrue. See Brookhaven, New York, Islip, New York, Hempstead, New York, Hempstead, New York, Babylon, New York, Riverhead (town), New York, etc. The prevailing style is not to include the county in the name, and one should include the county in the name only if there are more than one place with the given name in the state (then using the county name as a disambiguator). You then further changed the target of the redirect that was left behind to point not to the new article you created, but rather to Huntington (CDP), New York, thus breaking possibly hundreds of links to the original page. I had no idea that I was being warned due to my technological confusions; I hereby swear to never do it again.

Decline reason:

Wikipedia is a collaborative project; collaboration extends beyond noting that you have been warned. Furthermore, you have made very little effort to understand why you are blocked. "I hereby swear to never do it again" doesn't cut it -- you are blocked (in part) for repeatedly not doing something. MER-C 08:39, 2 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

If you genuinely meant that you wouldn't do it again, you wouldn't still be doing it as an IP would you? DrKay (talk) 07:37, 4 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
