Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Cap2201. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Anthony Esposito (musician), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. pseudonym Jake Brockman talk 12:16, 11 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Dear Cap2201, Many thanks for posting the disclosure on your user page. According to the guidelines for paid editing, there are several steps required in addition to the notice on your user page. 1) place a Template:Paid tag on your user page or user talk page for every individual article and/or client, 2) place a tag Template:Connected contributor (paid) on the talk page of every article you have created or edited, disclosing your client. Please familiarise yourself with Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure. Your should do this for all articles you have edited in the past, of which I assume Anthony Esposito (musician) is one. I have taken the liberty to place a blank tag which you just need to fill in. If you have any questions, please let me know. pseudonym Jake Brockman talk 15:51, 11 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jake, I've added the tag to the talk page on Anthony Esposito (musician). Please let me know if there's any other steps that I need to take for the page. Thank you for all your help!--Cap2201 (talk) 16:02, 11 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I have added the additional tag required for your user page. You can use this as template for further such disclosures. At this point the community would very much welcome a statement confirming if the Anthony Esposito article was your only paid/conflicted edit or not. If there are further such edits, they will require disclosure. pseudonym Jake Brockman talk 16:08, 11 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Seconding Jake's question above; many editors will want to have a definitive statement from Cap2201 concerning which (if any) articles they created for pay.--SamHolt6 (talk) 16:06, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hey guys, Sincerest apologies for the long delay. The only pages that I received payment to create were for Srikant Chellappa and Joanne Wilson. I'm happy to update the pages with all the necessary disclosures and information. The rest of my contributions were either page creations or page edits for artists and works that I personally admire. I'm very sorry for all the confusion and uncertainty. Please accept my apologies again!Cap2201 (talk) 04:31, 25 July 2018 (UTC)cap2201[reply]

Article moved to draft[edit]

I have moved Anthony Esposito (musician) to Draft:Anthony Esposito (musician) in light of your recent disclosure, as per WP:PAID and WP:COI articles created for pay must be sent through AfC.--SamHolt6 (talk) 16:10, 11 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Other articles created for pay?[edit]

Cap2201, thank you for being cooperative with Jake Brockman (talk) earlier and for disclosing you paid editing at Draft:Anthony Esposito (musician), but I (and many other editors, to be sure) would like to know if you have created or edited any other articles for pay. If you have, these articles must be disclosed on your user page per WP:PAID.--SamHolt6 (talk) 14:17, 14 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of Interest Noticeboard discussion[edit]

A discussion regarding your account is underway at Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest/Noticeboard#Cap2201's_paid_contributions. I highly recommend you participate given the nature of the discussion.--SamHolt6 (talk) 20:43, 19 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

As a result of this discussion, all of your articles have been moved to the draftspace for quarantine and tagged for *possibly* containing undisclosed paid editing.--SamHolt6 (talk) 15:20, 20 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion pending for File:Dylan Beynon, 2018.jpg[edit]

Hello, Cap2201. Some time ago, a file you uploaded — File:Dylan Beynon, 2018.jpg — was tagged with {{OTRS received}}, indicating that a statement of permission had been received by permissions-en@wikimedia.org, but that this email was insufficient in some way

This could be due to any of several issues:

  1. The OTRS agent might have asked for further information to validate the ticket, but no follow-up reply was received (this is the most common reason).
  2. The license submitted might not have provided an acceptable free content license. (Statements of permission that allow only usage on Wikipedia or only non-commercial usage are NOT sufficient.)
  3. The person who submitted the statement of permission might not be the copyright holder or might not have been able to demonstrate to the satisfaction of the OTRS agent that they own the copyright.

Due to privacy reasons, we cannot comment on Wikipedia with the exact reason that the ticket could not be processed.

  • If YOU submitted the ticket to the permissions address, please search your email for a reply with the ticket ID - a reply was sent some time ago requesting more information or further actions needed to confirm permission. Please reply to that message.
  • If the copyright holder (not you) submitted the ticket, then that person received a response (which may have been some time ago). Please ask them to follow up.

If another message is sent to permissions-en@wikimedia.org and let us know at the OTRS noticeboard that you have done so.

  • If you have already sent this message, it is possible that there was a problem receiving it. Please re-send it to permissions-en@wikimedia.org that resolves the problem, please let us know at the OTRS noticeboard that you have done so.

If we don't hear from you within one week, the file will be deleted. If we can help you, please feel free to ask at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. B (talk) 12:08, 30 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
