No, no problem at all. My first thought was that you might have been a pro-Bush zealot who did not want a link to the Valerie Plame affair in the article. Now I realize that it was all a misunderstanding. I hate zealots on this site, they really ruin the opportunity for a "fair and balanced" coverage of the subject matter. I really tried to make the language of my new section NPOV. —Scientz October 27, 2005, 2:02pm EST

Persistent vandalism[edit]

That behaviour sounds very much like the "King of the Hill" vandal. I'd continue monitoring those pages, and if necessary, protect the pages. Block the IP for say, 2 minutes if you see him/her vandalising. Put an assertive message in your block which conveys that vandalistic activities on Wikipedia are inappropriate editing behaviour here. Sometimes even the mini block (in general) is enough of a deterrent! If the vandalism continues after that, well, block longer at your discretion. I've blocked the vandal's IPs for up to 48 hours. You may consider doing a range block as well. Make sure to tag the pages if you protect. I can't find the notes I posted about this person, but he's been around for a very, very long time. --HappyCamper 23:45, 25 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you revert my corrections to the above article. (I had not signed in, and so the corrections were under 68.1.254.10 instead of Read Johnston. The corrections came from the Church Manual, and from http://www.marybakereddylibrary.org/faq/faq.jhtml?category=Library%20Basics#q1 under A1. Thank you so much for responding so quickly and completely! Your welcoming message was very comforting, and you must be doing a great job to try to keep on top of people trashing pages. Perhaps the whole bit about THE is really not appropriate (too much information) in this enclopedia, and will be edited better by you or someone else. Aranda56 and Prini[edit]

I didn't block Aranda56, just impostors (like Aranda56% or Aranda56`).

Regarding Prini, this is obviously the same vandal and the name is intended to parody Drini (who was one of the targets), so I blocked indefinitely. Note he didn't actually moved the pages, he just blanked them and used misleading edit summaries. -- Curps 20:30, 6 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

In general, if you know you're dealing with the same vandal who's coming back with a slightly different new IP address or new sock username, just block right away... they already got their warnings the previous time (or days ago). -- Curps 20:32, 6 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

William Renner[edit]

As supporters of Mr. Renner's candidacy for governor, we would like to formally contest the speedy deletion of Mr. Renner's page from Wikipedia. As potentially the youngest governor in Maine history, we do not think the deletion cause "nn-bio" applies. Mr. Renner is obscure, but not non-notable. We believe that the deletion of a gubernatorial candidate's life-biography from Wikipedia for non-notable status, with clear political motivation, is a blatant violation of the neutrality premise behind Wikipedia. In the interest of Mr. Renner and Wikipedia, we would request that you undelete Mr. Renner's biography. Below are the email addresses of those interested in Mr. Renner's candidacy and personal claimants to Mr. Renner's public announcement for his gubernatorial run.

Concerning Initial D updates[edit]

I'm really sorry sir as I am updating everything right now for the Initial D segment occasionally. I'm terribly sorry about this as I've not realized my actions are being monitored.

Currently I am at that process of adding new info concerning the "Initial D" site but upon request then I will remove all of the info if it's too much hassle to my actions which may seem illegal. Again sorry for any of my inconvenience.

I'm relieved to know that[edit]

List of non-fictional heroes[edit]

Neil Armstrong is no hero. He have never save life, like Oscar Schindler, Raoul Wallenberg and Paul Rusesabagina or fight for his country and freedom ,with or not violence, like Che Guevara, Chiang Kai-shek, Dalai Lama, Douglas MacArthur, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Bob Dole, Winston Churchill, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Tito or are revoltleader like Lenin, George Wasington, Gandi and Gustav Vasa. Have Neil Armstrong done something like it?

List of non-fictional heroes[edit]

Neil Armstrong is no hero. he have never save life or fight to country and freedom or are revoltleader.

The whole list is point of view. You don't believe that Neil Armstrong is a hero and that's fine but others do. I don't think that Jesus is a hero but someone else does. I would suspect that many would not consider Fidel Castro a hero butI think he is. It really comes down to each person's belief as to who is a hero. I already removed Elvis but perhaps I should not have. The list is going to get worse as time goes by. Sooner or later someone will add George W. Bush or Tony Blair and while I don't consider them heroes someone might. The argument is that they have qualified under number 3 above. RC Patrol part 2[edit]

Thanks for the message and the advice! Here's a question for you: how do you usually monitor an especially prolific vandal once you've spotted them? Is there a way to watch their contributions page to see if they make any new changes? Or any other way to tell if they've kept editing? I mean other than watching the pages they've vandalized? Also, is a vandal blanking their own talk page (for example if it's full of test messages) considered vandalism and something I should revert? Thanks for the help! Peace, delldot | talk 04:15, 21 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Jo Fennessey

Yes it is about a real person.

Yes I do want it to be kept because it has quite a bit of relevance.

Yes it was coherent & well written.

Also, this person has edited other college pages from Tasmania and has left them in a far worse state than I have.

Hi.

RE: that Jo Fennessey post. I will not put that post back onto this database. However, if it is possible I would love for you to be able to send me a copy of it back so that I can save it on my computer and print hardcopies.

Kind Regards.

Well done on fixing all the nonsense on the Camberwell Grammar School page. And Wikifying it all. That must have taken aaaaaages!

Re: Hawiye & Darod[edit]

Howdy! Well it looks like your comments went unheeded, I have just made a couple more reverts, which were immediately followed by a couple more anonymous edits. Fortunately these were less drastic, as though the editor were trying to stay within the existing framework of the article. (I still had to go back and clean up a little, though.) -- Gyrofrog (talk) 07:26, 23 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

So what's the next step, once we grow tired of cleaning up the same edit over & over? -- Gyrofrog (talk) 15:41, 23 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I've been thinking of asking Soomaali (talk • contribs) to get involved. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 14:22, 24 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
FWIW I have asked that the pages be protected, as I wasn't sure what else to try, and since the editor hasn't responded to our comments. The thing that concerns me more is the state in which the editor leaves these articles (poor grammar, removing links and formatting etc.) -- Gyrofrog (talk) 19:18, 26 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Rather than protect the article, another admin ended up blocking the user for 24 hours. It didn't seem to make any difference, as the user was back to his usual activity this evening (one weird development: he had been changing a year "1200 CE," which is in one of the references, to "1800 CE," but this time used "1700 CE"). I've thought of opening an RfC though I'm not sure it will make much difference (and it looks like quite a bit of work). (Exhales) -- Gyrofrog (talk) 06:39, 29 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. Finally left a note at User talk:Soomaali. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 06:51, 29 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Lightbringer Arbitration case[edit]

The Arbitration case against Lightbringer, Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Lightbringer, to which you contributed, has closed. The decision is that Lightbringer is hereby banned indefinitely from editing articles and talk-pages related to Freemasonry (the closeness of the relation is to be interpretted by any sysop as they see fit, regardless of the article's title), and is placed on personal attack parole for six months from now (to expire on the 24 of May 2006). If Lightbringer violates the Freemasonry ban, a sysop may ban them for up to a week, and after five such bans, for up to a year. If they violate the personal attack parole, a sysop may ban them for up to a week.

User:BrandonYusufToropov continues to make personal attacks on me RE "enviroknot"[edit]

Argh. bloody hell... I just saw what you meant :/

  2. 2005-11-28 15:21:11 . . Chaosfeary (Constant insults and harassment by User:BrandonYusufToropov)

Both deleted - Is there no way to restore the comment?

Anyway, UserBrandonToropov has been harassing me, User:Ta bu shi da yu and User:Klonimus keeps making personal attacks in edit histories to make them not easily viewable except by people he doesn't like the edits of.

See:

(+) edit *personal attack left on Talk:Islamofascism (term) about Klonimus

He says sorry in the edit history of Islamofascism (term) but that only appeared after I made a complaint about him on this page which is also mentioned on User:Francs2000's talk page - He obviously saw it and is worried that he might actually get in trouble for it at last.

I have been blocked once for making *one* personal attack on him already (see User_talk:Chaosfeary#Block) by User:SlimVirgin (I called him an "ugly little anal-troll" in an edit history, the previous edit by him had in the edit history "don't listen to chaosfeary enviroknot sockpuppet" or some crap like that, and he has been spreading this false rumour everywhere, which has now been disproved (see User_talk:HappyCamper)..

It seems there's one rule for everyone else yet he is allowed to insult people all he wants... --Chaosfeary 15:24, 28 November 2005 (UTC) --Chaosfeary 15:24, 28 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

He removed your warning on User_talk:BrandonYusufToropov, much as he tends to remove any comments he doesn't like..
So, how come when I attack him, I get blocked (by User:SlimVirgin), but he is free to do what he wants and continue to insult multiple people violating WP:NPA? I only made *one* insult against him and I was immediately blocked.
See the links above, those are just some of the examples.. I would not be surprised if he in fact was a sockpuppet of User:Yuber (see Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/Yuber, he has used sockpuppets before) since he was the one to start calling me "enviroknot" (an old enemy of his apparently) then quieted down and then BrandonYusuf starts in his place.. Suspicious... --Chaosfeary 16:26, 28 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Again has deleted your warning: [1]

If you check his talk page edit history you'll see that he has removed warnings from SlimVirgin and others as well, as well as many negative edits by other normal users...

Their first edit was to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Walking Game and looking at the amount of sockpuppet activity over there coupled with the fact that I nominated the article for deletion in the first place, probably means they're something to do with that. -- Francs2000 11:08, 30 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Transclusion[edit]

As I've seen you around on RC-patrol, I'll take my life into my hands and hit you with the boilerplate. ;-)

When using template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template.

Keep whacking those vandals! Cheers. Lectonar 13:42, 30 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about the 30 min delay; as far as I know, it works with all the {{test}}-related templates: spam, lang, blank etc., but not with the {{stub}} and {{award}} templates, as they include images. Happy editing. Lectonar 13:51, 30 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I caught it and was only trying to be funny :), but as English isn't my native language...Lectonar 14:01, 30 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry to butt in here but technically "subst"ing can work with any page, not just templates, it just depends how they're formatted (some only work when they are displayed between these {{funny brackets}} such as stub templates). As an example, go to the sandbox and subst any page you like into it: your user page, an article, anything. -- Francs2000 14:02, 30 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
