Stop uploading images, please[edit]

You cannot just upload random images you find on the internet and claim them as your own work. Review the Wikipedia's policy on non-free content, please. This behavior can lead to sanctions if it continues. Zaathras (talk) 13:30, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your submission at Articles for creation: Radiant Residents (March 11)[edit]

Your recent article submission has been rejected. If you have further questions, you can ask at the Articles for creation help desk or use Wikipedia's real-time chat help. The reason left by Zxcvbnm was: This topic is not sufficiently notable for inclusion in Wikipedia. The comment the reviewer left was: The required changes have not been implemented, the article still fails GNG and uses much user-generated material as references. This time I am pretty confident the game isn't notable at all.

Persistant and continued disruption at Kurt Cobain[edit]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Kurt Cobain. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted. Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continual disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. - FlightTime (open channel) 00:18, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The image seems outdated as to what he looked like right before his death. Wikipedia is supposed to be as reliable as possible. The current image seems misleading as to what he really looked like, and the MTV Unplugged image expresses his looks better than the other image. CPT78999 (talk) 00:25, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You already tried this a few weeks ago. Did you see the message at the top of this very userpage of yours? The User_talk:CPT78999#Problems_with_upload_of_File:Kurt_Cobain_at_MTV_Unplugged_in_New_York.jpeg section? Did you read the links in that message, particularly the link to Wikipedia:Non-free content? You must read and understand the project policies on what types of content can be used here. Zaathras (talk) 01:02, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There is a freely licensed image of Cobain already, so any upload of a non-free image just to replace it because you don't like it will not meet WP:NFCC#1. And getting it from Getty Images also does not meet WP:NFCC#2. If you continue to upload imahges like this, you will be blocked from editing. -- Whpq (talk) 02:13, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Cobain at Sony Music Studios, New York on November 18th, 1993.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file from a commercial source (e.g. Associated Press, Getty Images), where the file itself is not the subject of sourced commentary. If you can explain why the file can be used under the non-free content guidelines, please add the appropriate non-free use tag and rationale.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Whpq (talk) 02:07, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your image uploads[edit]

Looking over your contributions, it is quite clear you do not have a good understanding of Wikipedia's image use policy. Before you upload any more images, please read and understand it. In particular, I notice that many of your uploads have no licenses. Images must be freely licensed unless they are being claimed for use as non-free content. And those images for which you have claimed as non-free content do not have a non-free usage rationale. A non-free usage rationale is required as you must explain how the image meets all of the non-free content criteria. Your non-free image uploads shows that you really do not understand those criteria. If you don't understand or need some clarification about the policies, you can get help at the Teahouse or at Media Copyright Questions. What you cannot do is to continue to upload copyrighted images without proper licensing or non-free content justificaitons. -- Whpq (talk) 02:35, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable non-free use File:Morgan Wallen in 2023, photographed by John Shearer.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Morgan Wallen in 2023, photographed by John Shearer.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file's talk page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:The Adventures of Milo & Otis poster.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:The Adventures of Milo & Otis poster.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. Here is a list of your uploads. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Information icon Hi CPT78999! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Mona Lisa (band) that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. - Sumanuil. (talk to me) 05:06, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't remember marking it as a minor edit, but thank you for pointing it out. CPT78999 (talk) 20:41, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Did the same on Jesus and with no explanation. Changing the main picture is not minor. --Erp (talk) 01:04, 23 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason for Unblocking[edit]

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I noticed that I have been blocked from uploading images to Wikipedia. I read into it, and I am aware that it is because I uploaded images with the wrong licensing options. I am very sorry for this. From now on, I will only upload freely-licensed images> I am formally requesting to be unblocked from uploading images.

Decline reason:

That wouldn't be enough. Even freely-licensed images need the correct licensing options specified. Yamla (talk) 10:40, 23 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Hi there[edit]

Hi CPT78999, and thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. I've seen you lately trying to publish an article, {{{1}}}, through a feature called the content translation tool. Unfortunately, this feature is restricted to users who are not extended confirmed, as explained in the mentioned link. (It only requires you to have 500 edits and a tenure of a month). Don't worry, you can copy the translated material and copy it somewhere else, like your sandbox or to a draft. If you have any inquiries, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Hope that helps!
