Peer review of Muscle hypertrophy article edits[edit]

Hi there! Here's your peer review! Looking at the talk page of this article immediately alerts readers that it needs a lot of work. The edits made by Bostonian49, like the “In Sports” section, are worthy additions to the page and well cited. However, there are much more glaring issues with this article that were not addressed. One is the issue of plagiarism. Some large sections of the article are still copied and pasted from the website, http://muscle.ucsd.edu/musintro/hypertrophy.shtml. For example,

: “The additional contractile proteins appear to be incorporated into existing myofibrils (the chains of sarcomeres within a muscle cell). There appears to be some limit to how large a myofibril can become: at some point, they split. These events appear to occur within each muscle fiber. That is, hypertrophy results primarily from the growth of each muscle cell, rather than an increase in the number of cells.”

Additionally, there are places in the article that still say “citation needed” that have not been addressed, like the “Strength Training” section. Going forward, I would recommend that changes in these areas be made. To speak to the sections Bostonian49 added/edited, they are generally well-researched and well-written, I would just recommend that phrases like “in addition” be removed since these are not in WP fashion. Overall, this article still requires a lot of work, but the edits I’ve seen are valuable. Hopefully, this is helps! TealPenguinFoot (talk) 19:47, 16 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
