The article Houmayoun Mahmoudi has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Help Request[edit]

My name is Vicky from Bolton uni , we are a small group of art students doing research about wikipedia as a source for art students, we should try to do do a project on wikipedia to edit or create a page about a local artist, but we are struggling with the project, we will appreciate if any of wikipedians can kindly help. Thank you

  • Help Me Reply — I'll be happy to help you. First, a couple of items about the talk page, when making a new entry on any talk page, you should place it at the bottom of the page to maintain a timeline. If you are creating a new topic, use the "New Section" tab at the top, other wise to reply to an existing topic, just use "Edit this page" and enter your text in the correct place. Finally, at the end of your post you should always place a signature by adding four tildes to the end (Like this: ~~~~).
Now we've got that out of the way, please let me know what exactly you need help with. Just reply under this text, and I'll come back and help you. There's no need for a new {{Help me}} tag, since I will be watching this page, and will return after you post more information. —    Bill W.    (Talk)  (Contrib)  — 13:03, 16 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Bill, Thank you so much for getting back to us, we are quite confused with references section, we have contacted the artist and he has provided us with the information which we have mentioned here as references but still we see a note on top of the page says this page will be deleted as there are no references provided, do we do some thing wrong, can you please kindly have a look at our references and let us know, Kind Regards Vicky — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.169.0.108 (talk) 14:22, 18 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, first your issue. I can't help unless I know what article you're talking about. Please let me know the name of the article and if you have uploaded any images for use in the article, the names of those files as well. I will look them over and get back to you.
Second, some more talk page help. You may have noticed that one of our bots has tagged your comment as "unsigned". Even though you said, "Thanks, Vicky." The bot is looking for you to use the Wikipedia signing method I mentioned above. All you have to do to place a signature is add four tildes to the end of your comment like this: ~~~~. Also when you're replying to a previous comment by another, you should put one colon (:) at the beginning of your paragraph for each level of indent. this helps keep the text readable. I've properly indented this whole conversation, so I'm currently at level 4 (::::) so your reply here would be indented one more level (:::::). Hope some of this helps. —    Bill W.    (Talk)  (Contrib)  — 17:38, 18 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Update! - I found your article, sorry I didn't read the other messages on your talk page first. You could have removed the "speedy" tag yourself after you added the references. In fact the text of the warning box that was on the page said, "Once the article has at least one reliable source, you may remove this tag." I went ahead and removed the tag. Hope that helps. —    Bill W.    (Talk)  (Contrib)  — 17:43, 18 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Bill, thank you for your messages, they really helped us to learn about the wikipeia step by step and even enjoy it! our project is including 1-creating a page. 2- editing some body else's page. 3- translating a page. This is a project that we are preparing for our presentation on september, so we have enough time to carry on but we are very new with html language, sorry, thats why I didn't get how to sign, sorry. Bill I also need to know how can I make the box which most pages have in right side of page to put the picture, infos etc inside it, we so much appreciate your time and support. Vicky81.159.229.225 (talk) 02:41, 20 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
What you're looking for is an Infobox. Just click that link and you should find what you need. As for the tildes to make the signature, looks like you've got that down. Just remember to add them (once) at the end of each talk page message and you're golden. You had the indenting right too, but you don't need the parentheses, those were just my attempt to make my earlier example more grammatical. Hope your article works well. I'll follow this page for a couple more days, but after that if you want to be in touch, use my talk page (link in sig). —    Bill W.    (Talk)  (Contrib)  — 15:50, 20 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

July 2013[edit]

Information icon Hello again! I wanted to let you know that I undid one of your recent contributions to Houmayoun Mahmoudi because it did not conform to the Manual of Style, particularly this policy: WP:BOLDTITLE. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message here or on my talk page. Thanks! —    Bill W.    (Talk)  (Contrib)  — 13:08, 23 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Just wanted to let you know that I reverted your edits to Category:People infobox templates and Category:Award infobox templates. Generally, an infobox is added to an article. So Template:Infobox award goes on articles about awards, and Template:Infobox person goes on articles about people. Category pages are just a list of other pages, and any content or templates on Category pages are there to tell the reader what the category is about. Usually, there is no need for any of us to edit category pages. By the way, your article Houmayoun Mahmoudi is coming along nicely. Good work! Ibadibam (talk) 16:44, 23 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Ibadibam , thank you for looking at my article and for your nice comment, I am very new here but every day I am finding it more interesting specially after seeing that how wikipedia members are looking after new members like me, I really appreciate your time and supports. Best Regards VickyBoltonart (talk) 18:19, 25 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Bill, thank you for your message, that is my friend Laura who was trying to fix the infobox, we both are looking forward to get this page done soon and move in to the next step of translation stuff, thank you for all your support. from a group of Bolton uni students :) Vicky 86.164.108.107 (talk) 01:10, 25 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Vicky, please note that the above are two separate comments, one from me and one from Ibadibam. Since you mentioned that one edit was made by your friend Laura, and then you signed off "from a group of Bolton uni students, I have to make you aware that it is Wikipedia policy that user accounts must represent only one person and sharing of user names is not allowed. You can find the pertinent policy here: WP:NOSHARING. Hopefully everyone involved will create an account of their own so your fellow editors will know who they're writing to when we we leave a message on a talk page. Also I removed all those extra colons from your comment above. Since this is a new thread it starts a new indent sequence. Hope that helps. —    Bill W.    (Talk)  (Contrib)  — 03:40, 25 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Bill, please accept my apology, I will only be the only person follow this after now, we started with the same account because we thought maybe we wont be able to edit the same article with diff accounts and also we didn't know the policy, thank you for letting us know. Best Regards from VickyBoltonart (talk) 18:10, 25 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm glad you're having a good experience. I hope you find it interesting, and maybe find more areas here where you're interested in contributing to articles. The more people who participate in Wikipedia from different places and perspectives, the better this encyclopedia will be. Also, it's not required to have an account if you want to edit Wikipedia. So your classmates can work on articles without signing in, if that works better for all of you. Ibadibam (talk) 18:34, 25 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Orphan tag[edit]

The WP:Orphan tag should stay in place on Houmayoun Mahmoudi until there are other articles on Wikipedia that link back to it. Right now, the only incoming links are from logs and discussions, not actual articles. Thanks. Ibadibam (talk) 21:11, 14 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Nooshin Moradi requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. I am very disappointed, my friend and I spent a whole afternoon to write a good article. but it was deleted with no discussion. Also as you can see the user called Alex Shih didn't bother to reply my messages and let me know what mistake was and give me the opportunity of edit and improving it. This sounds a bit unfair and not in a very professional way. Before in 2013 when I became a wikipedian for the first time I had lots of mistake and didn't really know how to do it, but for several days two very helpful users Bill.W and Ibrahim guided me and my friend in the right direction. I really appreciate if you review my recent article and help me to improve and re-post it. Looking forward to hear from you Boltonart (talk) 02:54, 24 August 2017 (UTC)VickyBoltonart (talk) 02:54, 24 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Boltonart: I am more than willing to help if you ask directly, Vicky. Wikipedia is not compulsory, and if you cannot follow the policies, you cannot demand other users to dedicate anymore time than it is necessary. Back to the article itself, there is no reliable sources, and it does not follow the style guide. Mostly importantly, it does not indicate the notability of the subject to any extent, which is the reason why it was tagged for speedy deletion. A quick Google news search on the subject reveals only 1 result. I am sorry, but I am afraid the subject is simply not notable enough to warrant a standalone article. Lastly, WP:NOSHARING was pointed out to you before, and are you still sharing your account with your friend? And there may be some serious undisclosed conflict of interest/paid editing here. Alex ShihTalk 03:37, 24 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Alex Shih thank you for your reply and I am sorry I have not been following the rules mistakenly, this was because I needed to be guided and needed some help. I am sure there always people out there to support the users like me. Thank you for your explanation, I also searched the person's name and found 142,000 results about her. I work in a fashion magazine and we have just had an interview with her very recently, we were not the first media interviewing her, there are some more press, videos etc on internet. Other that Mrs Moradi is a quite famous designer in Northwest UK specially after her cloth selected by Empress Farah Pahlavi so many times. and we all know this here, of course I wouldn't expect all the wikipedia users know every singe well known person every corner of this world. I am sure there are many great artists , scientists and actors in China or Thailand that I don't know as much as you do. Here I have to apologise that I have consulted the article with my classmate, however we never shared account and I am the only account holder, meanwhile I would appreciate if you be enough kind to review my article and let me improve it at anyway you suggest. This will be an excellent support couse the article means a lot to me, it's also part of my dissertation for my master degree. Please let me know if I need to provide more references or do whatever more I need to do to. Again I apologise for the inconvenience (please don't take it personal) Kind Regards Boltonart (talk) 15:23, 24 August 2017 (UTC)VickyBoltonart (talk) 15:23, 24 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Boltonart: When I suggested there is a conflict of interest, maybe I was not explicit enough. There is a conflict of interest, and you must disclose it explicitly or else it is against the policy. In addition, this subject is simply not notable. Please check your Google search again (1,210 results). It is common Internet knowledge that you do not search without quotation marks.
