Welcome!

Hello, Bluefish35, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type helpme on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! §FreeRangeFrog 00:33, 15 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

How to edit your signature[edit]

Sure. You just go to "my preferences" (in the upper left-hand corner when you're logged in) and down to the box that says "signature." Make sure to check the box that says Raw signature, and then in the signature field type in whatever you want to have displayed.

There aren't a lot of real policies about editing your signature (other than the policy that you can't impersonate someone else), but there are some guidelines available at Wikipedia:SIGNATURE#Customizing your signature. The important thing is to make sure your signature links to at least your user page or talk page (so that it makes it easy for people to find you...personally, I like to have mine link to my user page, talk page, and contributions page) and is similar enough to your real username that people don't get confused.

Best, rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 01:19, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Try this:

=<font face="georgia" size="1"><font color="blue">Blue</font><font color="lightblue">Fish35!</font></font>talk/contribs

That way there will be links to your pages. It will show up as =BlueFish35!talk/contribs . rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 01:52, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Bluefish, please move the last </font> tag so it's outside the ]] brackets (I did the change in the code example above, so you can just copy and paste that if you like); the way it was before, it didn't close the font element and ended up changing other text after your signature. Fixing that closing tag will repair that, so your signature doesn't mess up the following text. Thanks, rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 02:04, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Can I use HTML on my User Page?[edit]

helpme Can I use HTML on my userpage?

You can, but it's easier to just use Wiki syntax. What are you trying to get done? rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 01:52, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You can do that by typing this:

Visit webpage

The text after the url is what displays on the page. You never really need to use html on Wikipedia, as it has its own syntax. I highly recommend that you take the brief Wikipedia tutorial to learn how to use the syntax.
Also, please keep in mind that Wikipedia is not a web hosting or advertising service, and if the only thing you are planning on using Wikipedia for is to advertise your website then that is inappropriate; your main focus should be on editing articles and improving the encyclopedia. Again, you can learn more about that at the tutorial. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 02:08, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If you want people to e-mail you, you can just go to Preferences and click the box for "enable e-mail from other users." This will allow users to e-mail you through Wikipedia, but it keeps your actual e-mail address hidden. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 02:13, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Text here will display as: Text here. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 02:20, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Alternate account?[edit]

Is User:Pedahir your old account? If it is, and you don't plan on using it anymore, you should probably ask an admin to have it blocked—we're not supposed to have multiple accounts, so it's fine if you've started a new account but it's also standard to block the old one just so that no one can use it in the future. If it is, just let me know and I can have the account closed out for you (I'm not an admin, but I know several who can help out). rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 02:02, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Owl City requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. eaolson (talk) 00:05, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on P00p eater, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. File copyright problem with File:Hannahteter35.png[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Hannahteter35.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Eeekster (talk) 01:29, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:MOT-Droid-Pro.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [1], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

 • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
 • add the relevant copyright tag.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hang on to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. ww2censor (talk) 01:33, 14 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Sreid.jpg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Sreid.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.
