CSD Question

Does WP:CSD#R2 apply to articles that, while not being strictly redirects, have the same effect (ie, have simply a link that says "Click here" which links into userspace)? Specifically, I am referring to Saud Ahmed. Bk314159 (talk) 13:40, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

Not entirely sure about R2, but it is a moot point; I was about to tag it as A1 (no context), when someone deleted it as A3 (no content) - both of which make sense. Cheers,  Chzz  ►  13:48, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
Very interesting question. I actually deleted the page under criterion A3 - No content, but then realized that this criterion specifically excludes Soft redirects. The guideline for soft redirects makes it clear that for deletion purposes, they are subject to the speedy deletion criteria for redirects. So the answer to the question is yes (to my surprise, I must admit). Regards, decltype (talk) 13:54, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

Regarding speedy deletion of FL Technics

I want to ask you to restore the FL Technics article. It's not promotional, it's factual data. Also, I'd like to link the article to it's counterpart in Lithunian language (since it's a Lithuanian company). The reason I put this article on Wikipedia is that it's a continuation of now bancrupt flyLAL airlines - the only national airline in Lithuania. The airline had been reorganized into separate activities, such as commercial flights, charter flights (thus the Small Planet Airlines article that is a continuation on a previous flyLAL charter) and aircraft maintenance (thus FL Technics article which is a continuation of a previous flyLAL Technics). Maybe I should reflect that more in the History section of the article? Ar additionally put the article under some categories? —Preceding unsigned comment added by MilesToCover (talkcontribs) 08:13, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

I cannot restore the article (I don't have the needed permissions). You should instead ask at Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion. Bk314159 (talk) 14:38, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

I've removed the CSD template as the subject is not a real person, rather a character from a soap opera. I made the same mistake, but saw that the original editor was editing on other pages related to this series. Catfish Jim and the soapdish (talk) 13:49, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

Altered speedy deletion rationale: AglaSem - Moving to Next Semester

Hello Bk314159. I am just letting you know that I deleted AglaSem - Moving to Next Semester, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, under a different criterion from the one you provided, which doesn't fit the page in question. Thank you. Kimchi.sg (talk) 02:54, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Sorry for the confusion... Just to make it clear... The goal here is to end up with the content at List of Masonic Grand Lodges and have General list of Masonic Grand Lodges as the redirect. If you have to delete or recreate the various articles in order to make this happen, no objections. I will leave it in your good hands. Thanks. Blueboar (talk) 16:07, 19 September 2010 (UTC)

Talk page archive problem

helpme I am currently using MiszaBot III to archive my talk page. However, I am not seeing the header. Can someone take a look and figure out what I am doing wrong? -- Bk314159 (Talk to me and find out what I've done) 20:26, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

The line that says |archiveheader = talk archive navigation means that, when an archive fills up (ie reaches the 70K you set), MisZaBot will auto-create a new page with the heading of talk archive navigation.
What I think you were asking was, why there was nothing displaying the archives on top of this page.
That's a separate thing; I've just added archives to the top of this page, to show your archives. (I added it at the very top, you can move it wherever you like).
Note, also, that you have set |counter = 4 - which means it has created, and started archiving, into User talk:Bk314159/Archive 4. As you have no 1,2 or 3 I think you'll probably want to rename that to 'Archive 1' and change the counter parameter to 1.
Hope that makes sense; if you have more trouble, use another helpme.

Feedback

Hiya,

I noticed you helping out on the helpdesk (great stuff), and wondered if, perhaps, you can also help some users on WP:FEED? It is quite similar; mostly newly-created articles looking for some basic info on how to improve the article. If you have a quick look over recent feedback given, you'll get the idea; anyway - it was just a thought; if you ever can help out there, please do, because it quite often gets backlogged. Cheers!  Chzz  ►  04:52, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

New article- Integrity Watch Afghanistan

Dear Bk314159,

Thank you for the feedback you provided on our article. I agree that there is a conflict of interest and I would appreciate it if you could give us more specific recommendations on the neutrality of the page. What we want to do is similar to Transparency International's article on wikipedia.... any tips, would be highly appreciated.

Thank you in advance,

-->Integrity Watch Afghanistan (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 03:58, 21 October 2010 (UTC).

One of the ways that a decent article, like Transparancy International, gets created is by people independent of the subject working on it. Advice is given at WP:FAQ/Organizations, especially the section titled "I think my organization deserves an article on Wikipedia but none exists. What can I do?". I hope this helps. -- Bk314159 (Talk to me and find out what I've done) 16:46, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

Tagging for deletion redirect to page tagged for CSD

While on New Page Patrol, I came across Bauza & Associates, a redirect to the page Bauza & Associates Hispanic Marketing. I tagged the target page for speedy deletion under criterion A7 (no indication of importance or signficance (companies)); should I also apply a tag to the redirect? -- Bk314159 (Talk to me and find out what I've done) 21:02, 21 November 2010 (UTC)

I have dealt with those, but in general the answer is, you needn't bother - if the main article is deleted, the deleting admin will usually check "What links here" and zap any incoming redirects. You could perhaps keep an eye on it and, if the main article goes but the redirect doesn't, then tag it db-g8. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 21:08, 21 November 2010 (UTC)

Ebiquity?

Hi Bk314159,

Can you please let me know why you have deleted http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ebiquity ?

The article appears objective and fact based

While the Ebiquity site is referenced there are more links to independent 3rd party sites and it is a public listed company on the London Stock Exchange?

The article was updated since you first marked it for deletion.

The original article contained links in the services section which linked the service names to their external websites. This was intended for further insight but may have been misinterpreted as promotional. This was changed and that section only contained references and no external links.

Most of the links are now wiki links or well know independent 3rd party sites such as London Stock Exchange and Business Week.

Will it be possible for you to provide feedback so I can make updates that will enable you to undelete it?

Thanks, Wwjx0p (talk) 13:54, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

I tagged it for deletion under speedy deletion criterion G11 because it appeared to be blatant advertising or promotion. Essentially, the issue is that articles need to be written from a neutral point of view. They also need to be about subjects that have received significant coverage in independent reliable sources; if I recall correctly, the references to the stock exchange and Business Week were not significant.
You can get more information about userfication, which is putting the article in your userspace, from the deleting administrator, Syrthiss (talk · contribs). As it is, I cannot undelete the article because I am not an administrator.
I hope this helps. Sincerely, -- Bk314159 (Talk to me and find out what I've done) 16:04, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

What do I have to do to keep my bands page up and stop the speedy deletion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Woody Brown (talkcontribs) 02:03, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

First, add hangon to the article in question directly below the db tag. Also, explain your rationale for why you think the article should be kept, either on the article's talk page or in your edit summary.
The reason it is tagged for deletion is because it does not indicate why the subject is important or significant. This is a much lower standard than the criteria for having an article on a subject, notability. There are two relevant policies/guidelines: WP:Notability and WP:Notability (music). If your band meets any of the criteria indicated on these two pages, the article will most likely be kept; otherwise, it will most likely be deleted.
On a side note, you should sign your posts on talk pages (like this one) by typing four tildes (like this: ~~~~). This makes it easy to track who said what in a discussion.
If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask. -- Bk314159 (Talk to me and find out what I've done) 02:27, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

Sometimes I do not check an unreferenced BLP that gives no seriousindication of notability on its face, but this article surely did., even in the form you found it. You seem to have placed a BLP prod on this article without even checking in the most obvious places. G News alone shows several dozen references. It also shows some major unspotted problems, which I am working on. Other admins seem to have removed some other of your prod & speedy tags also, so perhaps you are going a little too quickly when working on them.. DGG ( talk ) 17:20, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Please do not move pages to nonsensical titles. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to learn more about moving pages, please see the guidelines on this subject. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Wikipedia. Thank you.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hang on to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Actually, it does read like an advertisement. Moreover, it does not meet the general notability guideline: "If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to satisfy the inclusion criteria for a stand-alone article or stand-alone list." Additionally, the page has an incorrect title. -- Bk314159 (Talk to me and find out what I've done) 14:11, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

In what way can I change my title? I tried to do this but can't. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Savajr (talkcontribs) 08:52, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

Right now, the title should be the least of your concerns. If the submission gets accepted, the title will be changed when the article gets moved into the main namespace. You should be focusing on the other concerns: re-writing the article from a neutral point of view (ie, not like an advertisement) and finding significant coverage in independent reliable sources to establish notability (see WP:42 for an explanation of what this means). -- Bk314159 (Talk to me and find out what I've done) 14:36, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

  • The introduction has issues with several of the words to watch, especially using peacock terms.
  • The "Early Life" section reads like an advertisement.

Request for further feedback

Thanks for your review and comment on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Syllabification_of_the_Mass - I'm wondering if you'd be willing to give further feedback on whether the information given in the article might be appropriate for inclusion elsewhere in Wikipedia, rather than as its own article? A search of the web for info on how to syllabify the Latin Mass Ordinary when making a musical setting yielded little, and I prepared the article after studying an authentic score to address this. I'm wanting to post this information which I view as highly valuable to composers in a place where it's likely to be found and shared. Hi,

Thanks for your review of my article. As I am new in this I was trying to reach you but I think that I wrongly posted my comments. I was really trying hard to understand where to put my things.

Upon receiving your comments, I went through the article again, and I still think that the event is significant enough to be posted on Wikipedia. There are additional arguments in favor of this claim that might have been insufficiently explained in the article itself, namely:

  • the list of faculty http://www.adit-conf.org/faculty.html is quite long and consists of internationally renowned experts and specialists in the field of diabetes;
  • the IDF (International Diabetes Federation) also endorses the event by including it on IDF’s list of noteworthy events at http://www.idf.org/news;
  • the Chairman of the event and one of the lecturers is Andrej Janež, MD, PhD
  • the event’s focus includes the global economic impact of diabetes, a very serious problem that the general public is still not really aware of;
  • last year’s event was accredited with 12 European CME (Continuing Medical Education) points – see http://www.eaccme.eu/eventlist.php?country=CROATIA&history=1

Therefore, I would urge you to reconsider the site's inclusion/publication on Wikipedia.

Thanks and best regards,

Aljosa

In response to your comments:
  • I requested inline citations and posted a link for how to do this. Essentially, surround the citation with tags like this[1] and place Reflist in the references section. These are required so that statements can be verified.
  • "If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to satisfy the inclusion criteria for a stand-alone article or stand-alone list."[2]
    • The list of faculty provided is not considered an independent source.
    • Being included on a list of noteworthy events is not considered significant coverage (see the guideline for what that means).
    • Being related to someone notable does not establish notability for the subject itself.[3]
    • That the conference is about something that the public does not know about does not indicate notability. For example, I could host a conference on weak passwords, but that would not be notable either.
    • An accreditation is also not considered significant coverage.
Please provide inline sources and show significant coverage in independent, reliable sources; then re-submit; instructions for doing so are in the template at the top of the page. -- Bk314159 (Talk to me and find out what I've done) 20:17, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

Bk314159,

Thanks for reviewing the article I was trying to create on the Italian Dario De Toffoli whose contribution to games has been dramatic. I was hoping to have some feedback from you to understand if the article can be improved to an acceptable standard or whether there is a fundamental flaw?

I hadn't originally included the sources section, that verifies some his achievements. I know that there definitely exist more preferred RS that are not available online and not speaking Italian makes it difficult and the age of many of the achievements also adds challenges.

I was surprised though that there were still problems especially in terms of importance after including the sources as his contribution collectively to games is massive. For backgammon alone his contribution is substantial i.e. the origins of the game back 500 years.[4]. I hope you have the time to get back to me. Thanks, Tetron76 (talk) 15:31, 2 March 2011 (UTC) P.S. Alternative Press is a google literal translation of StampaAlternitiva which is a publisher connected with La Stampa newspaper not self publishing. The book is a main reference on Italian Wikipedia [5] I have left more detailed argument on my talk page as to why I believe this person is notable.

Tetron,
Looking at the descriptions of the sources, I see that they, in particular the book reviews, do not provide significant coverage. The general notability guideline on English Wikipedia says "If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to satisfy the inclusion criteria for a stand-alone article or stand-alone list" (emphasis added); other Wikipedias (such as Italian) may have different requirements. As I see it, there is only one such source that provides significant coverage. I hope this helps. -- Bk314159 (Talk to me and find out what I've done) 02:37, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
The book reviews I selected mainly had lengthy paragraphs specifically about Dario.
I have found some significant extra links - most significantly is the awarding of a prize from PLDA the games player of the year where he won a lifetime achievement award for a "career" in games.
  • I also found the official scrabble results.
  • As I suspected he has been a games journalist for a major Venice newspaper il gazzettino and had several articles in La stampa.
  • I have found La Stampa 's archive pages and there are several search pages of results.
So I have re-written the page with the references and while the backgammon section is still thinner than it ought to be and I have yet to find precisely what TV commentating he has done.
I hope that you agree that the article is now in a state to be considered for creation.Tetron76 (talk) 17:48, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

Sheldon A. Cohen and Perceived Stress Scale

Hello,

You reviewed my pages recently and both were declined. Can you suggest something I can do to get the content accepted? I've responded before to the volunteer reviewers, and I did what they asked. About the copyright issue on the Sheldon A. Cohen page: Which text specifically in Sheldon A. Cohen is perceived to violate copyright? And I'll remove it.

Thank you

SheldonCohen (talk) 17:56, 23 March 2011 (UTC)

The first article, WT:Articles for creation/Sheldon A. Cohen, I declined because there were no referenes to support the information in the article; see the policy on verifiability.
The second article, WT:Articles for creation/Perceived Stress Scale, I did not touch. It was declined because it reads like an advertisement. It also fails to cite its sources. -- Bk314159 (Talk to me and find out what I've done) 18:54, 23 March 2011 (UTC)

Hello, Bk314159. You have new messages at FabianB3's talk page.

I am trying to decipher what else I can do to get this up and going. The two pieces of feedback I got were mutually exclusive and therefore, a bit incongruent insofar as direction is concerned. Just as I thought I addressed one concern, I eveidently created another. FabianB3 (talk) 21:49, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

The first box was added by Alpha Quadrant (talk · contribs); the second was added by me to an earlier version. My concern was that the version which I reviewed did not indicate why the subject was notable. According to the general notability guideline, "If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to satisfy the inclusion criteria for a stand-alone article or stand-alone list." This version did not indicate this, and was therefore declined.

Articles_for_creation/Analyses_of_Social_Issues_and_Public_Policy

re. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Analyses_of_Social_Issues_and_Public_Policy_%28ASAP%29

Thanks for evaluating my submission, which was rejected because the sources were not deemed reliable.

I am writing to ask which parts of the brief entry were not considered reliable. If it is concerning the role of SPSSI in Brown v Board, would you consider either of the following two citations to be sufficient?

Thanks in advance for your response. Lanningk (talk) 13:39, 4 April 2011 (UTC) Kevin

The main issue was that there were no independent sources. Independent sources are needed not just for verifiability but also to establish notability; that is, does the subject merit an encyclopedia article? For more information and the criteria, see WP:Notability_(media)#Newspapers, magazines and journals. -- Bk314159 (Talk to me and find out what I've done) 19:51, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

CONTRACT CHEMICAL MANUFACTURING ARTICLE CITATIONS

I recently submitted an article that was rejected and I was asked to add citations. I have read the citation guide for beginners and am curious if citing a person (president/CEO) is considered a credible source?

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Danabaumgart (talkcontribs) 14:10, 11 April 2011 (UTC)

The submission in question is Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Contract Chemical Manufacturer. -- Bk314159 (Talk to me and find out what I've done) 18:46, 11 April 2011 (UTC)
There are two reasons that reliable sources are needed: to verify individual facts and to establish notability.
To quote the verifiability policy: "All material added to articles must be attributable to a source with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy, and one appropriate for the information in question."[6] In this case, unless he is an expert in the field, the president/CEO is probably not a reliable source. However, I am not an expert on this, so you may want to check the Reliable sources noticeboard.
For purposes of notability, however, this is definitely not sufficient. To quote the notability guideline: "If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to satisfy the inclusion criteria for a stand-alone article or stand-alone list."[7] Because the person is not independent of the subject, he/she cannot be used to establish notability.
Hope this helps. -- Bk314159 (Talk to me and find out what I've done) 18:46, 11 April 2011 (UTC)

Hello Bk314159,

Subject: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Jessica_Mezey

I removed the link to the employees list and added several other references. There are of course also a lot of proofs (in offline manner) for all mentioned details. Regarding the notability of Jessica Mezey I would like you to consider the following.

She is present in the German Wikipedia, by a proper Wikipedia article about her since one year (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jessica_Mezey). She is known as one of the most renowned dancers of the present day and comes from one of the most important ballet schools in the world (see link in the article), where she is listed as a graduate in the German Wikipedia version (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waganowa-Ballettakademie). Very important is further more, that she is in the list of significant dancers (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_bedeutender_T%C3%A4nzer), also in the German Wikipedia. This list of approximately 120 entries covers only dancers with outstanding achievements including deceased dancers in history.

For a ballerina to get principle roles in such a large number of theaters and companies worldwide (I added links to their Wikipedia articles), is a mark of importance in itself. There are at present 775 google hits with her full name in quotation marks, all about her. For ballerinas, this is a huge number; they are, of course, less popular than a pop star.

Another reason to create an English article in Wikipedia is, that she is American and grew up here, even if her most success is and was in Europe and Asia. Many think, she might get the title prima ballerina assoluta.

I resubmitted the improved article for review and would like to know your opinion.

Regards,

Dangoerman (talk) 23:32, 11 April 2011 (UTC)

Aerodynamic Mudflap

Dear BK314159,

I was just reviewing some of the dialog. I appreciate the genuine interest you and Seaphoto have taken on reviewing the article. As you likely have discovered I'm new to Wikipedia. As you can imagine, I've spent a lot of time on this already and have made numerous adjustments . You Seaphoto and a number of others have likewise spent a lot of time in reviewing the article and I wanted you to know I value your time. I've come to realise "understandably" the adjustments have been necessary to ensure neutrality. I appologise to you and anyone else for any appearance of my initial lack of understanding and corresponding expression of frustration relating of the protocol set out by Wickipedia. Wondering if you or anyone else you know, might graciously consider either mentoring me along with this article or creating the article yourselves if necessary. It matters not at all to me it has my name on it. I'm convinced The aerodynamic mudflap and Albert Morin is indeed an essential revolutionary piece of history that needs to be told. I cant emphasis enough how much I value the dedication and time it takes to learn and administrate wikepedia protocol. Writing, evidently is not my best strength. It seems I'm at some kind of impass as it relates to neutrality. Though, when I look at Kenworth, Peterbilt & Volvo Trucks and even mudflap girl, all refrences ( just to name a few of the already approved articles by wikepedia )the only conclusion I seem to arive at is that those articles seem to pose a myriad more questionable neurtrality issues than the article I've proposed. I understand its possible its just me who has a hard time distinquishing the difference and if so, I humbly concede. That being the case, all the more reason I ask someone else who understands the system would consider authoring the article for the greater good. Please be assured the last thing I want to do is waste anyone elses time. Would be forever grateful. Avgjoejohn316 (talk) 14:20, 19 April 2011 (UTC)

Within the bounds of the Wikipedia Three Revert Rule you can edit the article. I have tried to guide User:Avgjoejohn316 in the Wikipedia process, but it looks like it's just not working. What the article needs is some reliable references and a well sourced section on the aerodynamic mudflap that illustrates the history. Care to give it a shot? Happy Editing! Jessica Mezey Article for review

I had to write it again, but here it is now.

And here again an overview, a summary regarding the notability of Jessica Mezey:

• She is present in the German Wikipedia, by a proper Wikipedia article about her since one year.

• She is in the list of significant dancers, also in the German Wikipedia. This international list of approximately 120 entries covers only dancers with outstanding achievements including deceased dancers in history.

• She is known as one of the most renowned dancers of the present day and comes from one of the most famous and influential classical ballet schools in the world, where she is listed as a graduate in the German Wikipedia version.

• For a ballerina to get leading roles in such a large number of national theaters and companies worldwide is a mark of importance in itself.

• There are at present 775 google hits with her full name in quotation marks, all about her.

• Another reason to create an English article in Wikipedia is, that she is American and grew up here, even if her most success is and was in Europe and Asia.

I resubmitted the improved article for review (now for sure) and would like to know your opinion.

Regards,

Dangoerman (talk) 02:17, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

Someone will be along to look at it shortly; I try not to personally review the same article twice (it helps to avoid bias).
On a side note, the correct way to do internal links is like this: example (generates example) or like this (generates like this). For interwiki links (eg, to german), it is language code:article name (eg, German version). Hope this helps. -- Bk314159 (Talk to me and find out what I've done) 02:25, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
Thank you! Like this: Article? Dangoerman (talk) 02:52, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
Exactly. However, you should probably be linking to the article itself rather than one of the footnotes (e.g., WT:Articles for creation/Jessica Mezey). -- Bk314159 (Talk to me and find out what I've done) 13:27, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
Oh, of course! This was just due to copy and paste. But one can never enough underline the importance of footnotes ;) ... By the way, I tried to use the interwiki links on my user page, but the whole link disappears then, here it doesn't, what is the difference? Edit: I understand now, it adds the language link in the navigation bar, but how to use interwiki links then, there? (example) Dangoerman (talk) 10:42, 23 April 2011 (UTC)

Article for submission Shock Absorber Fees

I see you have left a comment on the article for submission at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Shock_Absorber_Fees_-SAFe. I don't want to edit it while you're reviewing it but I would argue it should be declined until the author provides real third party sources. The papers referenced are academic articles written by the creator of the fee structure, and therefore do not pass the requirements under WP:NOT. Until a third party publishes comments on the structure, I don't believe it's notable. I'm extremely new to actually editing, does this analysis seem accurate? --Plutonium210 (talk) 19:09, 19 June 2011 (UTC)

Your analysis is spot-on, except that the shortcut for the notability guideline is WP:N; WP:NOT links to WP:What Wikipedia is not. For future reference, I left a comment, not a "I am reviewing this" template. Thanks for helping out. -- Bk314159 (Talk to me and find out what I've done) 23:13, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for the helpful hints. I've denied the article and suggested to the author way to make the submission more appropriate for Wikipedia. --Plutonium210 (talk) 02:27, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

Dear Bk314159, Thank you for reviewing my submission. I appreciate the time you have taken and I finally found your comment that it was written like an advertisement. Could you please be more specific? When I compare my submission with existing wiki entries on universities/university departments, they are rather similar. This entry, for example, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Underwood_International_College is virtually identical to my own. If you could let me know exactly which section you are objecting to (and perhaps, if you have time, how it differs from existing articles), I can revise accordingly. I would very much appreciate your input on this, Regards, Gillsteel (talk) 03:23, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

GilSteel,
The version that I reviewed differs significantly from the current version. I just went through your submission and formatted it correctly; you may go ahead and re-submit it by placing at the top of the page and someone else will be along to review it. -- Bk314159 (Talk to me and find out what I've done) 14:12, 21 June 2011 (UTC)
Additionally, when using an Interwiki link, you can just enclose it in double square brackets (eg, example produces example) rather than providing the whole URL. I have refactored the title of this post like this. -- Bk314159 (Talk to me and find out what I've done) 14:15, 21 June 2011 (UTC)
Thank you very much. I appreciate your editing and formatting. Sorry if my message was not comprehensible - I (new user) got confused by the Wiki organizational system. I believe I have resubmitted it, as you suggested, but don't find the site very intuitive! In fact, I'm not even sure I'm leaving this note of thanks in the right place.Gillsteel (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 06:41, 24 June 2011 (UTC). moved and formatted -- Bk314159 (Talk to me and find out what I've done) 20:31, 24 June 2011 (UTC)
You were very close on the location of your comment. It should have been in the same section (in order to keep the conversation together). I have also left you a few links on your talk page that you may find helpful. The submission error was due to a typo on my part that you repeated (I take full blame); it should have been a lowercase 's' on submit.
Feel free to continue improving your submission, especially in regard to tone. Let me know if you need any more help. -- Bk314159 (Talk to me and find out what I've done) 20:42, 24 June 2011 (UTC)
Thank you very much (hopefully I am in the right place this time!) If you have time, could you possibly tell me how I can edit the first section of my submission? Or where I can find that information? I see clicking edit means I can edit the other later sections, but not sure how to edit the first section. Gillsteel (talk) 13:24, 27 June 2011 (UTC)

Even closer; talk page posts should be indented one level further than the post that they are in reply to (using colons); in order to prevent the conversation from getting too narrow, I have outdented my reply to your comment (using the outdent template).

There are three options for editing the lead section:

  • Click the Edit link at the top of the page. This edits the entire article.
  • Go to Special:Preferences. Under the Gadgets tab, select the check box "Add an [edit] link for the lead section of a page". Then use this link.
  • Click the Edit link for any section and change "&section=x" to "&section=0" (x is the number of the section whose edit link you clicked).

Hope this helped. -- Bk314159 (Talk to me and find out what I've done) 21:56, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
