Talk pages[edit]

What's a talk page? What is THIS page for? I'm new and a bit confused.

Hi! Talk pages are for Wikipedia editors to talk to each other. We have talk pages for articles, used for discussing how to improve them, including disagreements over what to include - the address will start with Talk: - and talk pages for users - the address starts with User talk:, like this one. In my signature is a link to my user talk page - if you click on it you'll see that people have left questions, complaints, and compliments for me there, and we also have an in-house newsletter, the Signpost, which you can sign up to have delivered to your user talk page, and there are newsletters for various WikiProjects, too. Does that help? Yngvadottir (talk) 20:38, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
      Oh thank you very much.

what is a redirect? how do I find one? And also, how do i fight vandalism. everytime i spot one. someone else found it first. it was on recent changes patrol. I figured how to find vandalism. They are all tagged.

See WP:R: A redirect is a page pointing to another article, maybe for a common misspelling or for an alternative name. It's Wikipedia's version of paper encyclopedias' "See somewhere else" entries. For example, President Obama redirects to Barack Obama.
Regarding vandalism, I can't really give you much advice beyond "be faster". Others are on recent changes patrol too; it doesn't really matter who reverts vandalism as long as it gets reverted.
On an unrelated note, I'll echo Lixxx235's sentiment regarding your username. Requesting a username change is a good idea due to the very unfortunate connotations of your current username. Huon (talk) 18:36, 13 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your username, and adoption[edit]

Hi there, I'm Lixxx235. I have been a registered user since 2010 and I am currently a rollbacker and reviewer. Are you still interested in the adoption program? If so, I'd be honored to adopt you. If you would like me to adopt you, please leave me a message on my talk page.

As a side note, your username is rather similar to banned user User:Willy on Wheels. This was probably not your intention, but to avoid confusion, and in a show of good faith, you could ask a bureaucrat to change your username to something less suspicious. Thanks, Lixxx235Got a complaint? 15:42, 8 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits[edit]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 18:09, 13 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: Grand Rapids Dragonfish[edit]

Hello Billy on Boxes, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Grand Rapids Dragonfish, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article has not been transwikied to another project. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 20:02, 13 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
