Information icon Please do not add commentary, your own point of view, or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to Ave Maria, Florida. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Stop removing the word "controversial". Adolph Hitler, Obama, Trump and the KKK are not listed as "controversial" on Wikipedia and yet somehow Tom Monighan is? This is a subjective classification that adds no factual value and does not belong as a modifier in the article. Looking at the page history you've imposed this view over the last 10 years Bigdig23 (talk) 15:35, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that's me making sure that the Ave Maria article stays neutral and doesn't become a promotional tool for the town.
The blurb for the James Leonard biograph of Monaghan says "Living the Faith is the much-needed, definitive biography of one of the most fascinating and controversial figures in the realms of American business and religion. Through eighteen hard-boiled chapters, journalist James Leonard follows Monaghan on his path from a heartbroken kid who climbed into his father's coffin to the business tycoon who purchased the world-champion Detroit Tigers and spent a fortune on his own air force, navy, and island to the religious visionary who founded a university to make saints and a public interest law firm to overturn evolution." The book goes deep into the troubling events leading up to the founding of Ave Maria in Florida, from the failed promises of the original vision of a Catholic university in Michigan, including a lawsuit by Kate Ernsting, to illegal transfers of federal scholarships.
The top paragraph of the article must convey some sense of controversy. I don't care how it's done, but it is necessary for neutrality. The town didn't just rise up from the earth on the backs of smiling turtles. Binksternet (talk) 19:48, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You are conflating a couple of things but I get your point. I'm going to dig around for some more historical articles. Bigdig23 (talk) 20:35, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
