If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Bilkent Erzurum, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. ukexpat (talk) 13:54, 1 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Aysinpir. I've gone ahead and deleted the page as it was purely promotional rather than encyclopaedic. One of Wikipedia's main guidelines is that all articles must be written from a neutral point of view. If you wish to rewrite this article, I think the best course of action would be to first look at some other school articles listed at Category:WikiProject Schools articles by quality, especially the FA (featured article) class ones as these are best quality. This will give you some idea of the sort of language that would be most appropriate. Best regards, —BETTIA— talk 14:51, 1 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
There have been some good answers to your question at Wikipedia:New contributors' help page/questions#Question, especially the suggestion to go to WP:Requests for Feedback and WP:1ST. —BETTIA— talk 15:00, 1 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits[edit]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 16:42, 1 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Removing Speedy at Bilkent Erzurum[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Bilkent Erzurum, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, then you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion notice, which will allow you to make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 18:55, 1 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

June 2011[edit]

An image or media file, File:Bilkentlog.png, has been removed from your userpage, user talk page, or other page because it was licensed as non-free. Wikipedia's non-free policy states that Copyrighted images under fair use are only allowed to be used in articles about the subject of the image, and only if no free equivalent is available. For example they are not allowed to be used on user pages, in lists, or (typically) in biographies of living people.. As a result, although users are often given a great amount of latitude in the type of content that is allowed on their user pages, it is requested that you abide by this policy. Feel free, however, to add images and media files licensed under other terms. For more information, see Wikipedia's non-free content policy and an accompanying essay on the removal of non-freeimages. Further use of these images will be considered vandalism, and shall be treated as such. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. ukexpat (talk) 00:24, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback[edit]

OK here is some feedback:

You seemed to add requests to Wikipedia:Requests for feedback/2011 June 1 several times. We are all volunteers and the backlog is long. Repeating the request is not necessary, and might actually delay the response.

You already have some comments in User talk:Aysinpir/Bilkent Erzurum which are good. Read these and if you deal with them before moving the page into the main space it would be less likely to be deleted.

To clarify some: external links go into references or the external links section, not the article body. In the body itself, just use [[this format]] for links, with two square brackets around a relevant term that already has an article. Double check to make sure it is the one you think it is, not a dismabiguation page, or "red", an article that does not exist (or have the wrong title). Wikipedia:NPOV discusses how terms like "is noted for its strong academic programs" or "produced many notable degrees" or "fully-equipped with up-to-date technology" or mission statements, or the other promotional language. Do not declare things as "notable" but provide an independent source, such as an article in a respected publication.

There are two many section levels: sub-sub-sub headings should be only about two levels deep in a moderate sized article. Remove all the usual clubs and departments that most schools have. Especially any promotional language not supported by an outside source needs to be edited out. For example, if a band or club is documented as winning some award, it could be mentioned, otherwise it is not notable.

Combine citations to the same web site if they are the same author and publisher. Use the <ref name="blah"/> syntax for subsequent references to the same site. This makes it clear if, for example, the article is mostly sourced from the subject . Adding in titles, authors, publishers, and dates helps wp:link rot as noted. Links not used in references go in the External links section, again usually one for each site unless there is evidence of different authors. Do not put footnotes on section headings.

Formatting needs work. Never start lines with a space, and there is a quote sitting under history that should just be deleted (or cited and put into a <blockquote></blockquote> format if, say, someone with an article is quoted in a reliable publication). The English is certainly much better than my Turkish (a few words!) but needs a little work. Each sentence needs a subjet and verb, and should generally be in simple present tense.

Hope you are patient enough to continue work on this, thanks. W Nowicki (talk) 22:10, 7 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:BilkentErzurumMainView.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:BilkentErzurumMainView.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 13:06, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bilkent Erzurum[edit]

Hi Aysin, hope this Ramadan finds you in the best of health and spirits. Things are still pretty busy here, but I'll have another look at your article when I can. One thing I've noticed is that you've been able to get some third-party sources, which is good. Have you considered a Peer Review? I've found this very helpful in the past, and I can help you submit a request if you want. All the bets, —BETTIA— talk 08:47, 3 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
