Request reason:

Sir, are you the Manager of this website. Please advise how we can remove all libelous material about Mrs. Aruna Roy member National Advisory Council (Government of India) immediately from your website. She is very concerned about misuse of Wikepedia talk pages to attribute scandalous and pornographic stories about Mrs. Roy and also her mother as originating from the Wikepedia. Most people in India are very poor and illiterate so they cannot understand these things or know difference between Wikileaks and Wikepedia. Arunaroy (talk) 9:33 am, Today (UTC+0)

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because you have not explicitly stated that you have no intentions of taking legal action against Wikipedia or any Wikipedia editor.

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I read Aruna Roy and it looks like a very ordinary biography to me. I don't see anything 'scandalous' on it, and definitely nothing 'pornographic.' Can you explain more clearly which information on the article is false? -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 11:59, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
There is content in previous versions such as this one which may be at the heart of this. Google's profile previews also seem to link to Wikipedia but gather information from many places and i have noticed recently several of those google profiles have bad information about the subject (they list a very much living nobel prize winner as being dead for example) . -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 12:35, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Impersonation[edit]

I will add to the above, that this account shouldn't be unblocked unless Aruna Roy can prove she indeed controls it. Please don't take offense; we're trying to prevent somebody from impersonating Aruna Roy (or impersonating someone she shares a name with). She is welcome to use her real name, but in this case she will need to prove she controls this account. This can be accomplished by sending an e-mail to info-en@wikimedia.org from an official address that verifiably belongs to Aruna Roy or legally appointed representative; be aware that e-mails are handled by a volunteer response team, and an immediate reply is not always possible. ~Amatulić (talk) 19:10, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As at least three accounts are now agitating for this article to be removed I think that this is a valid point. Having said that, I have read the article in its earlier versions, and I cannot see anything offensive in it. Certainly there is nothing pornographic, and there appear to be adequate references. If there is dispute about this lady's parentage, or caste, or education, it would be helpful if it were to be specified exactly which items are allegedly libellous; we could then assess the problem in a more constructive way.--Anthony Bradbury"talk" 23:57, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

{deindent). The controversy seems to be as follows from what I can figger out from here [1] and elsewhere:

  • User talk:RobertRosen is an involved editor who enforced wikipedia rules and BLP policies on several pages related to India.
  • William is the former confirmed sockmaster "Manorathan" who repeatedly tried to insert controversial BLP text into the Aruna Roy article in a disruptive fashion over a span of 2 years but was reverted by Rosen and several other editors. In the most recent incident William simultaneously initiated a WP:ANI here[2], a WP:DRN (removed but not archived), a WP:BLPN (removed but not archived) and a WP:RSN here [3]
  • In all these the controversial aspects of Aruna Roy's marriage or non-marriage were superficially discussed. The locus of the problem seems to be books and pamphlets being circulated off-Wiki by a group (Redacted) etc. As these publications are written by scholars (all holding Phds) they are eminently reliable sources for inclusion in Wikipedia.
  • User:RobertRosen tried his best to prevent Sockmaster Manorathan (ie. William) from inserting anything which would allow Aruna Roy's bio-data from being expanded by the (Redacted) group (who have a substantial army of "Hindu" editors on WIkipedia).
  • When after losing at 4 WP Appeal processes, Sockmaster Manorathan again brought the matter back to the Aruna Roy talk page, User:RobertRosen contacted User:Arunaroy off-wiki, and both of them are blocked indefintely for issuing "legal threats" to Wikpedia for not removing material about Aruna Roy.Hope this summarises the matter properly.
