Inactive-ness[edit]

Good to see you - I am on much less frequently than before - so I asked Tawker to have his bot check in on vandalism to Wikipedia:Introduction also - there doesn't seem to be as many people watching that page as before - I have found vandalism on there that has been on for over 30 min. Anyway - hope things are going well Trödel 10:06, 30 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I will be writing a generic 'page' cleanup script and adding that to the pywikipedia repository. --AllyUnion (talk) 18:37, 2 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sandbox Reset[edit]

It appears that the Sandbox reset isn't working right now...G.He 03:12, 6 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was just coming here to inquire about the same thing. I wouldn't mind running a Sandbot of my own if it's needed for redundancy reasons. I saw that notice above about writing a cleanup script for pywikipedia - I'm eagerly awaiting that! --Cyde Weys 23:41, 6 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed. --AllyUnion (talk) 07:33, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's broken again...G.He 02:19, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I know what's wrong, it's a matter of it being fixed... The reset is being used so much that it craps out. --AllyUnion (talk) 11:14, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I fixed it for now, but I will still need to re-write the scripts for this bot. --AllyUnion (talk) 11:17, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sandbot[edit]

Hi AllyUnion, I made a few changes to the sandbox header, to remove an excess line above the template. I also removed all of the STOP messages except the warning on the page, assuming people would read the page before editing it. However the bot keeps reverting to the last version, where the extra line is still there, it also reverted other changes, such as unicodification. Could you change the bots default version of that page to the current one? If you want feel free to restore the stop messages or make any other changes, but make sure the extra line removal and unicodification gets in. Thanks, Prodego talk 00:33, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please see your email. --AllyUnion (talk) 08:56, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Prodego talk 15:44, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I have restored the reset button, because I feel it is necessary. --AllyUnion (talk) 10:05, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Make a robot[edit]

I want to have a robot named Babylon5 and here is the tasks of my robot:

  • Make Category
  • Raplace a letter with another
  • Make redirect
  • Interwiki (Especially Farsi language)
  • Disambiguation pages

Before I read that I must request it, So What should I do??? --MehranVB 12:27, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sandbot[edit]

It seems that Sandbot is a bit overzealous in blanking sandbox pages, waiting as little as three minutes before blanking them again. Isn't this bot supposed to wait 12 hours between blanking? Philbert2.71828 06:28, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Those appear to be manual resets, and are done manually, not automatically.G.He 18:57, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
How does that happen? I don't think it's the "reset" link, because that gives a different message. Evil saltine 06:48, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Someone clicks on the "reset" link on the Sandbox which activates the Sandbot. If you have an idea for some sample text for a user to play with in which the Sandbot may add to its reset, please let me know. --AllyUnion (talk) 06:30, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Disaster movie to Disaster film[edit]

Hello there... You have a couple of links to the article Disaster movie which has been moved to Disaster film. Would you please go through and change those? Thanks! Lady Aleena 09:06, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know why you are asking this request from me... --AllyUnion (talk) 06:26, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

CleanBot[edit]

I am going to run CleanBot soon. General Eisenhower • (at war or at peace) (History of War) 16:33, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sandbot[edit]

The manual reset on the Sandbox talk pages wasn't working, so I've adjusted the heading to make it work. Sandbot reset the changes I made (I changed {{NAMESPACE}} to Wikipedia_talk), though. I made the change again, but I was wondering if you could update Sandbot so it keeps this new version. My guess is they tweaked the wiki software so there is no underscore in {{NAMESPACE}}, which in turn messed up the URL of the reset link. Thanks! Timrem 22:12, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Someone already re-adjusted that. Also, you may find a set of Sandbot tools at User:Sandbot/Tools. --AllyUnion (talk) 06:25, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Introduction[edit]

I think Wikipedia:Introduction could look like this:

To: [[/sandbox/]]{{Please leave this line alone}}<!-- Go BACK -->use [[/sandbox/]]
<!--This is not a Test area. When you edit a page,
consider how your changes are improving it: in this
case, for example, you should leave it be. -->

This way, with a different page for a sandbox, people won't delete the text trying out editing, which they are doing quite often now.--Chuck Marean 19:36, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey AllyUnion - this suggestion hasn't reached concensus yet - hope everything is going well - Trödel 02:46, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Omg! Sand bot is so cool[edit]

Im pretty new to the whole editing thing with wikipedia but your bot is so cool, hehe it cleans the sandbox, is there a litterbox too? I need a bot that can clean that

Is NekoDaemon still running?[edit]

I must be the 100th person asking you about NekoDaemon, but is it still looking after category redirects? It looks like its last edits were in March, and some tagged categories are not empty. Conscious 09:09, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, work has been consuming a lot of my time and I've not found any free time to sit and program for the Wikipedia. Likely no... --AllyUnion (talk) 05:57, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sandbot (for elsewhere) request[edit]

Hello AllyUnion,

I'd like to run Sandbot (perhaps on toolserver) to clear http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Wiktionary:Sandbox every hour or so. Is your sandbot code available somewhere, or should I just pass the request off, for to you to do it? Thanks in advance,

--Connel MacKenzie 18:51, 10 June 2006 (UTC) Wiktionary sysop[reply]

As much as I'd like to fulfill your request at this time, I've not yet found an opportunity to really sit down and code. Sorry. --AllyUnion (talk) 04:52, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sandbot[edit]

I wanted to add a link to another sandbox I found, but Sandbot reverted me...see here. Is there another page I'm supposed to edit to get the new interwikilink working? --HappyCamper 13:59, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sandbot, and template noinclude[edit]

The template sandboxes (X1 etc.) currently have a header that talks about sandbox use. The problem with the current situation is that when these templates are transcluded/substed, the header appears on the target page, making it hard to see what the effect of the template would be. This could be sorted out simply by putting <noinclude> before and </noinclude> after the transclusion header, but I cannot make this change myself as Sandbot would revert it. Could you alter Sandbot's reverted-to versions to allow for this? --ais523 15:32, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

Sandbot and Finnish Wikipedia[edit]

Hi, can you run fi:Käyttäjä:Sandbot again? It used to clean fi:Wikipedia:Hiekkalaatikko (Sandbox) two times a day. --HartzR 08:16, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Chicago Pano FP[edit]

Hi, just thought I'd let you know that someone has nominated your FP on Chicago for delisting as an FP. You may not have been aware of this. --jjron 06:44, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sandbot broken?[edit]

Sandbot appears to be broken. I am unable to manually reset the Sandbox by initiating the Sandbot script. Ryulong 08:33, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Me too. It gives an odd error message and doesn't reset the sandbox. This is not good seeing as many, many people remove the header when they play in the sandbox. 198.179.243.50 16:06, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Same here. Manually resetting the sandbox doesn't work, and Sandbot's last edit (see contributions) was on July 14. 75.17.61.78 19:07, 24 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
