I notice that Segmented turning is listed on your page User:Alai/orphansS I've intorduced some links both into the article itself and other related articles back to it. I Personally believe this is an important article so I thought I would drop amessage here as I'm not sure as to why you list orphans. Slysplace | talk 00:50, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A task for Alaibot[edit]

Hello Alai. The backlog of uncategorized articles is getting dangerously low! I'm sure you'd hate to see the whole categorization task force out of work so maybe it's time for a run of Alaibot on the most recent database dump. :-) Pichpich (talk) 17:00, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gaaaaaah! only 900 articles left in the backlog. It's decreasing so fast that I suspect a little bit of negligence from backlog-obsessed participants but still, we need a run of Alaibot. As far as I know it is the only one using database dumps rather than the Special page list. Pichpich (talk) 18:27, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I feel kind of dumb saying I appreciate it! ;-) Pichpich (talk) 04:57, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
And I'm afraid we're about to get hundreds if not thousands of articles thrown back into the backlog. See the utterly absurd issue brought up on ANI... Pichpich (talk) 17:54, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kosova-geo-stub[edit]

G'day Alai - could i get you to have another look at the comments on the SfD for {{Kosova-geo-stub}} - i think you may have missed the most important part of the reason I nominated it. Grutness...wha? 23:57, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Template:User page ban[edit]

A tag has been placed on Template:User page ban requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

Thanks. --MZMcBride (talk) 21:41, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Speedy deletion taggings[edit]

In 2007, there were four separate proposals to use "prod" for templates; all of them went nowhere. The system being used for deprecated and orphaned templates is the exact same system that is currently employed when "speedily" deleting images. (In fact, I copied a lot of the underlying code.) If I've inconvenienced you in any way, I apologize. However, I decided that it would be better to inform template creators on their talk page and wait a week rather than simply deleting the templates like some admins have done in the past. --MZMcBride (talk) 03:03, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Image:Alcohol cropped.png[edit]

A tag has been placed on Image:Alcohol cropped.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Alcohol cropped.png|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. More possible work for Alaibot...[edit]

G'day Alai - I notice a "backlog" template on SFD, and it is beginning to get a bit out of hand. Perhaps if Alaibot can orphan some of the more obvious deletion decisions it'd make it easier to cut SFD back a bit. here are a handful of possibles:

Any help with these would be much appreciated! Cheers, Grutness...wha? 06:22, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Data dump?[edit]

Hi Alai! :P I have a vague understanding that the format of the data dumps changed some time late 2007; does that affect your ability to produce statistics from it? I miss the monthly updates... Her Pegship (tis herself) 21:22, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Stub[edit]

Hello, Alai. First of all, thank you for agreeing to create an upmerge template for the stub I proposed. Second, I am inexperienced in creating a stub. How do I create an upmerge template?? See my proposal here, Taiwanese company stub. Thank you. Jkj115 02:58, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Scholar/Area studies stub[edit]

G'day Alai - I've made a suggestion and comments re scholar/areastudies-bio stub at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Stub_sorting/Proposals/2008/February#Scholar-stub_types - your input would be welcome, especially as Otebig (he of the CentralAsia-studies-stub at SFD) is beginning to get a little impatient about what's happening :) Grutness...wha? 08:41, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dissenting stubber[edit]

Hi Alai - I'm having a couple of problems with someone adding what (to my eyes) are inappropriate stub templates to an article (Hiroshima (band)). I've added my concerns to the article's talk page, but if you feel like chipping in as another senior stubber, it'd be welcome - even if you disagree with what I've said, just to get a feel of how stub-sorters feel about this in general (I'm going to mention it to Caerwine too, for more input). Spivey Records[edit]

Hi Alai, Your Alaibot recently added a "This article is uncategorized" to the Spivey Records article. I tried to respond by adding categories. I think the categories at the end of the article on Yazoo Records are appropriate. I'd like to put these same categories at the end of Spivey Records but when I try to copy & paste the categories, for some reason it doesn't work. Could you possibly help or advise? Thanks :) Mick gold (talk) 22:36, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. That worked. I was discouraged by the Preview window but all's well. Mick gold (talk)

Hi Alai![edit]

Is there a way to get a list of articles tagged with {{Sweden-geo-stub}} which are otherwise uncategorized? I have done what I can with CatScan, to sort all those with a province or land category into a county category, but now I have to tackle those without any category. Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers, Her Pegship (tis herself) 21:24, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, since last we met I have gone through the Sweden geo-stubs by hand (with navpopups to check categorization) and assigned at least one non-stub category to any without, usually a county cat. Soooo, never mind! but it's good to know you could do it if I need it again. TTFN, Her Pegship (tis herself) 04:31, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
