Users are trying to misinterpret the consensus and use their interpretations of WP:BLP to remove politicians from the Hindu cat. Since you wrote the scope of the cat, you may want to check out Talk:Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia. Using his coronation, isnt it perfectly obvious he was born a Hindu. Since there are no sources saying he is any other religion or philosophy, dont you think the cat should stay?Bakaman Bakatalk 21:40, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

On this matter: WP:BLP requires self-identification. Participation in a public Hindu ceremony isnt sufficient self-identification, as many individuals who are non-Hindu may so participate. If there are no sources about his religious preferences, then there are no sources. As I have quoted elsewhere.
From wp:blp under categorisation, it is required that :
  • The subject publicly self-identifies with the belief or preference in question
  • The subject's beliefs or sexual preferences are relevant to the subject's notable activities or public life
As you can see, this isnt OR, or my interpretation. The individual in question meets none of the criteria. If you wrote the original cat, I suggest you reword the introduction to make it clear that no additions should violate WP policy. Hornplease 21:48, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
aksi, he had a Hindu coronation, and his father had a Hindu death ceremony. By Indian law, he is a Hindu and this trumps the BLP canard.Bakaman Bakatalk 22:11, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
Watch your words. 'Canard' isnt appropriate as a description here. I dont want to remind you about civility on somebody else's talkpage, but so be it. Note that your claim that his father had a Hindu death ceremony = he was a Hindu under law is inaccurate even under Indian law. In any case WP has policy on this. Live with it.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Hornplease (talkcontribs) .
Look at the scope for Category:Muslim politicians, Category:Sikh politicians and the like. In response, the CfD closed with no conditions, meaning your scope was the end result. Belonging to Rajmata Scindia's party and having a Hindu coronation ceremony indicated hids religion. Look at Shaukat Aziz by Hornplease's logic since he's never said "I am a Muslim/Hum Musssalman Hai/etc." he doesnt deserve recognition in the Muslim politicians cat? When you say we, its obvious Hornplease would be the only real dissenter (were not counting the Anti-Hindu trolls who no one listens to). Religion is always notable in India, Madhya Pradesh is the place where people have a choice between Uma Bhartiji (hard line Hindutva) or the Secular Arjun Singh. His religion is definitely notable in this context as well as his relations to the Nepali royal family, Vasundhara Raje, Rajmata Scindia and the like, all of whom are documented Hindus. Saying a connection between religion and politicians in India is nn is a joke. Bakaman Bakatalk 16:49, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
see article talk page.Bakaman Bakatalk 17:11, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
I cant recall if wp:blp was policy when the cfd closed. In any case, wp:blp is now policy, and needs to be followed. Thats it. And frankly, baka, I think youre getting it now. "I am X" is precisely what self-identification means. As I said, it is very stringent, but there's nothing to be done about it now. And finally, as I said on the talkpage, other people's use of religion has no bearing on Scindia, unless he uses it as well, in which case it becomes relevant. Hornplease 22:36, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
Hornplease has actually stated that things arent good enough for him. As far as I'm concerned, I actually dont care what he thinks is fine, and since he declared his obstinate-ness, I dont need to explain anymore. Look at Talk:Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia .Bakaman Bakatalk 01:49, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

RE: FA?

Hi,

I am an editor in the Trivandrum article. You can definitely go ahead with the copy-edits and thus can help in lifting the article to the FA status. You can leave a message in my talk page, for any help needed from my side.

Thanks in advance....-- Rajith Mohan (Talk to me...) :-) 16:23, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi,

Regarding the usages in the lead: "lovely beach side city": the word 'lovely' is removed. "political nerve centre": It is not a toned up sentence. Since the city is the capital of the state, it is obviously the political centre of the state. "major academic hub": the sentence is reframed to major academic hub in Kerala. "premier educational institutions": premier is removed. "first Information technology park of its kind": This is a fact. The references are provided in the economy section, where Technopark is mentioned. "home to many of the world's leading technology companies" - Sentence is reframed.

-- Rajith Mohan (Talk to me...) :-) 16:56, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

It is not advisable to put references in the lead section of an article, as per WP:LEAD. The sentences you mentioned was holding references, which was removed after the Wiki peer review. However, for the claim that Technopark is the first of its kind in India, the reference is provided in the economy section. I will create a stub on Kazhakoottam as you said. The sources for the name change also can be done. -- Rajith Mohan (Talk to me...) :-) 18:40, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for your wishes on my birthday, aksi! I really appreciate it BTW, I had exams that day and on the next, so no real chance of enjoying. I promise I'll make up after the exams :) --May the Force be with you! Shreshth91 06:50, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Hello Bhadaniji. Hope all is well. Can you take a look at Mahindra World City? The place does not seem to be very notable to me. I wanted to mark it for deletion, but wanted your suggestions first. Is it a notable place in chennai? Because as of now, it reads somewhat like an advertisement. Regards, Aksi_great 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Hello. Great meeting the Aksi Great after a long gap. Let me see as the page is around for a long time - though that may not make it notable. Still let me think over. --Bhadani 18:54, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Shahbag Google Earth Image

I completely appreciate and accept your concern - "Google prohibits the commercial use of these images and such images are not allowed on wikipedia." But, I do not think WP amounts to "commercial use". It is more like "educational use". And, please, check the answer to a question on copyright provided by Google Earth authorities (I have attached the answer in text and provided a link to it on the image page). If it is really unacceptable, I will replace it. But, please, check again before it is deleted. - Aditya Kabir 18:25, 20 October 2006 (UTC) - please, answer to my talk page

Are you kidding me aksi? Incivility on Hinduism/India politics related pages is the rule, not the exception. I see that many Indian users support you and respect you (myself included) and you decided to stab them in the back. I see you've managed to overlook some personal attacks and what not. What are you trying to prove?Bakaman Bakatalk 13:51, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
I really don't understand what you are playing at, Bakaman. Wikipedia is not a battlefield, and administrators are expected to remain unbiased in every situtation. I completely endorse aksi's block on Hkelkar – who has been incivil and has made injudicious comments regarding other users. I would always endorse a ban on users who exhaust the patience of the community and have nothing productive to give to the encyclopedia. "... you decided to stab them in the back...", really Bakaman – you need to get your issues cleared. — Nearly Headless Nick {L} 16:18, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
Well then a large % Indian users would be banned. Jeez, shoot the messenger. Who's going to stick up for Hkelkar if I dont? Didn't I also say "I see that many Indian users support you and respect you (myself included)"? Is expressing my opinion something wrong? Forget I ever brought this up.

To NHN: You know someone has to do the dirty work. (I'll leave it at that)Bakaman Bakatalk 04:19, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Re: Re: Warning

Yes, we are building an encyclopedia. Wikipedia is very great on about all sciences and humanities articles, but frankly, some of the articles related to recent historical events, controversial political matters, controversial authors etc. will definitely need some kind of re-reading by professional and academic third-parties. Too many articles of this kind are vandalized by ignorant and extremely partial misconducts: as the time is going on, these articles do no get better. May be the limits of Wikipedia are attained there. Bye. TwoHorned 15:32, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Warning

Why am I not allowed to suspect him of sockpuppetry? You can give me as many final warnings as you want but the fact is he is a likely sockpuppet and I will create a sockpuppet case to this effect. BhaiSaab talk 10:45, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Why? BhaiSaab talk 10:53, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
It is not at all a bait. Hkelkar already knows what I think about him - I just pointed out another similarity. BhaiSaab talk 11:01, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
No in fact I do not know why you warned me because I think your warning was pointless. I find it useful to keep a list of similarities I have observed on his talk page, because it would not be acceptable in my own user space. BhaiSaab talk 11:07, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
Oh, I just replied back to Kelkar..and chanced upon this page...Actually, I think, we should give some more time to him and see if he still improves his ways..he already has loads of final warnings and a checkuser that though inconclusive - maintained that both are probable sockpuppets. If he is certainly one - his luck will run out completely one day.TerryJ-Ho

Formal request for admin intervention

This is phase one of my taking formal action against User:Mahawiki and his friends. Apart from constantly peppering any article they edit with fanatical Maharashtrian POV (note - I am a Maharashtrian and like many others I disagree with them), they do so by hiding behind personal attacks WP:NPA that they use to justify their edits. Mahawiki and his friends pay no attention at all to the readability of an article, and are only interested in getting their POV in.

My next step will be to list them in WP:PAIN, and will take matters progressively higher until these individuals stop their mindless edits that destroy the readability and structure and value of an article, which amounts to vandalism of articles.

In addition, they appear to roam in packs, with one supporting the other in any dispute, giving the hapless editor in their sights no chance at all to present a defence. And their weapon of choice is reverts - they will revert any edit by an editor not part of their pack, without any discussion on the talk page, and without following any of the rules of Wikipedia. User:Mahawiki is most notorious for this.

In the matter of the Belgaum article, it has been proven beyond doubt that User:Mahawiki has no knowledge at all about the city or the people living there, and is simply using the article (and other articles) for propaganda in a highly political campaign. He has contributed nothing of note to most of the articles that he has edited this way, but will launch a personal attack anyone who dares to remove his politico-fanatical edits from the article. He has shown no understanding for the fact that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a platform for politicking.

Before beginning this formal action, I have conferred with several admins and other knowledgable WP people, and have gone through the applicable rules on WP.

  • Phase one is contacting admin(s) who are familiar with the situation (we are here)
    • This should result in {{subst:Npa2}} and {{subst:Npa3}} notices to the user.
  • Phase two is listing a formal complaint on WP:PAIN
  • Phase three is taking this matter to WP:AN
  • Phase four will be to take the matter to WP:Arbitration.

As you are an admin familiar with the situation, I request you to intervene in this matter. This is not just a matter of the Belgaum article but of many other articles being affected by this user and his friends.

Achitnis 10:49, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

== Belgaum article ==

Dear Aksi,

Please look at the article the only changes I have made is those.I have moved border dispute section above and placed it after history section. It was originally at bottom and I think the issue is significant enough to placed on top.Other minor changed is that i have added The Maharashtra government contested the inclusion, claiming the district for itself on the grounds that the district had more Marathi speaking people than Kannada speaking people according to 1951 census.Which is in accordance to the citation I have provided and translated on Belgaon border dispute's talk page.

Mr.Chitnis who claims to be from Belgaum and know everything doesnt know that thr Belgaum city is the centre of the dispute! In fact he once said 'if u dont know me u r not from Belgaum!' (yes,i am serious!).One can understand how serious he is on wikipedia! His post to u also meant to threaten me! It is nothing but a personal attack and a bid to scare me off!! All he can do is label my citations and edits as political! God knows what exactly this means.I am not a MES or Sena worker, whatever I edited there was based on facts.

belgaum border dispute article was seperated from main article on Mr.chitnis's insistance. sadly he isnt doing so called 'expansion' or 'improvement' of article as he claimed. I request u to advice on this matter. Mahawiki 11:48, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
