In Flanders Fields by John McCrae, 1915
(1872-1918)

In Flanders' fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place: and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders' fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe;
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high,
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders' Fields.

We Shall Keep the Faith Moina Michael, 1918
Oh! you who sleep in Flanders Fields,
Sleep sweet - to rise anew!
We caught the torch you threw
And holding high, we keep the Faith
With All who died.

We cherish, too, the poppy red
That grows on fields where valor led;
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies,
But lends a lustre to the red
Of the flower that blooms above the dead
In Flanders Fields.

And now the Torch and Poppy Red
We wear in honor of our dead.
Fear not that ye have died for naught;
We'll teach the lesson that ye wrought
In Flanders Fields.

In Reply to ‘Flanders Fields’ by John Mitchell
Oh! sleep in peace where poppies grow,
The torch your falling hands let go
Was caught by us, again held high,
A beacon light in Flanders sky

That dims the stars to those below.
You are our dead, you held the foe,
And ere the poppies cease to blow,
We'll prove our faith in you who lie
In Flanders Fields.

Oh! rest in peace, we quickly go
To you who bravely died, and know
In other fields was heard the cry,
For freedom's cause, of you who lie,
So still asleep where poppies grow,
In Flanders Fields.

As in rumbling sound, to and fro,
The lightning flashes, sky aglow,
The mighty hosts appear, and high
Above the din of battle cry,
Scarce heard amidst the guns below,
Are fearless hearts who fight the foe,
And guard the place where poppies grow.

Oh! sleep in peace, all you who lie
In Flanders Fields.

And still the poppies gently blow,
Between the crosses, row on row.
The larks, still bravely soaring high,
Are singing now their lullaby
To you who sleep where poppies grow
In Flanders Fields.

Graphic lab

Hi 220.101.28.25. I'm not reading Wikipedia:Graphic Lab/Illustration workshop on a daily basis. If you need my help again in the near future you should probably try to reach me on my talk page. I have some knowledge of how to edit vectorial files and I can perform some basic French<->English translations. But this svg translation work was a pretty easy job. You should give it a try, download Inkscape, download the original svg file on the file description page and see how easy it is to change or add text. You could also use the svg translation tool on wikimedia commons if the text length if the text lengths is similar enough after translation (if not, the text might cover some parts of the drawing). --PiRK (talk) 14:17, 29 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi

Hi - thanks for your contributions. Just wondering, are you familiar with this policy? We actually don't use the TM symbol in Wikipedia unless it is needed in context. For your recent edit, which is talking about the term being trademarked I don't think it is necessary to repeat the symbol. Would you agree? Thanks.  7  04:48, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Hello back 7. The section in question already had (TM) after the word. I was just trying to put the 'correct' symbol in place. If its' against policy fine. Actually, I thought I had forgotten to save my change and was putting it back when I saw your 'message box'. No worries.

Hi, I just wanted to say you're doing a good job getting the most up to date info up on the talk page here. just out of curiosity, why don't you create yourself an account? Then (after 4 days and 10 edits) you'll be able to edit the page yourself to add the info directly. HJMitchell You rang? 03:24, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, I've been considering it. May have even picked a decent username. Too Lazy perhaps?
Q: Can I take my current edit history with me? Mainly so I know what I've fiddled with.
--220.101.28.25 (talk) 03:35, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
Hello, 220.101.28.25. You have new messages at HJ Mitchell's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

By the way:

HJMitchell You rang? 03:56, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

My first cookie too (cookie 'virgin'?). I tried sending a beer, but the 'wiki-monster' stated using bad words like 'transclude'. Appears I almost signed you up for 'Project Beer'!

Well, this sad incident was certainly educational. (I know where Texas is now. Without a state map). But the wiki side was very interesting too. Is there any wiki-jargon for what happens when a major event like this occurs? 'Edit frenzy' perhaps, thinking of a swarm of sharks in a 'feeding frenzy'. That's what it seemed like. I'd be surprised if 'Fort Hood' didn't have over 1,000 edits.

  • Did you spot on the 'Fort Hood' talk page where, 2+ hours ago, I put info/link where the Wall Street Journal [1] said the shooting started after 13:20 local time? The point is, which source is most reliable? WSJournal, ABC, CNN, National Enquirer(!) ?

--220.101.28.25 (talk) 05:14, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

I saw that when you put it up. I note with interest that nobody else has acted on it. Whether this is because nobody else has seen it, they can't be arsed or some genuine reason I can only speculate. There are a lot of sources giving the later time- BBC, various newspapers (both sides of the Atlantic) and that's the first I've heard of the other time. Is anybody else quoting that time? What time has Gen Cone or other Army spokesmen given? I'll take a look myself but anything you can come up with would be appreciated. HJMitchell You rang? 05:41, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
I've contacted Bigtimepeace to see if he has an opinion on the time thing. HJMitchell You rang? 06:15, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

Rodger, message received. Info seems to be coming from her boss "Chuck Medley, director of emergency services at Fort Hood." 10 minutes isn't much, but people might start quoting us so. The Ft Hood website press releases may have more more details (I can't access them at present, need 'Microsoft Net Framework'? or something to download) --220.101.28.25 (talk) 06:27, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

What's the Ft Hood URL? I'll take a look and see if I can dig something up. As I tell people all the time, anyone who quotes WP without checking the reference is a fool! I could write anything I like (and people do write shit on here!) but just because it's on WP doesn't mean it's so, hence WP:V! HJMitchell You rang? 06:41, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
Bigtimespace has replied at his talk page. He suggests going with the time used by every other news agency and, since it is every other agency as far as I can see, I'm inclined to agree. HJMitchell You rang? 06:55, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

Ft Hood WebSite

It's on the article RIGHT at the bottom under External links http://www.hood.army.mil/.
I've had a look back, who cut 2009 off the title? any consensus on that or summary pro-action?
That References section is huge. Can that be turned into a sort of 'fold away' list like I've see elseshere?? --220.101.28.25 (talk) 07:14, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

I don't know. I haven't looked at the history in all of 10 minutes which is time enough to completely lose track! Makes me glad (no offence to yourself) that it's semi protected so you don't have IPs adding shite to it and their edits going unnoticed. As for the refs section, since you mentioned it, I changed the template to {reflist|3} so they show in 3 columns, thus taking up less room. Although, you think it looks big from the outside, you should take a look at it in edit mode! Someone had the (brilliant) idea of moving all the fiddly bits in there and putting them in <!-- --> tags. It makes it a hell of a lot easier to edit the main body! Oh, and I've seen articles citing many, many more sources- like Her Majesty's article, for example!
Out of curiosity (again!), have you given any more thought to creating an account for yourself? HJMitchell You rang? 07:29, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

Havinf abiot of trouble thinking of anything at the moment. Afew hrs sleep my Thursdary night, then thsi thing happened and I only had a few hours sleep last night too (My Friday). a BIT tired. We'll see on the account thing. Slow steps.(Yawn)Sorry.
Didnt see waht you did with the references, mustve got reverted. Article seems to be ~4 screens text, ~2 screens refs.
wiki-break time--220.101.28.25 (talk) 08:23, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

Don't feel I'm pressuring you! You don't have to create an account if you don't want to, nor any sooner tan you want to. I just put the references in 3 columns rather than the two they were in earlier so they take up that bit less room. Unfortunately, there's not much else to do with them, which is why the refs are usually right at the bottom of the article. Well, if you're taking a break (not a bad idea, actually!) have fun and do say hi if/when you're back on. You've done a good job from what you could do on the talk page so I hope you'll keep it up. Regards, HJMitchell You rang? 08:38, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

Various

  • Yes you can "take your edits with you" there's a page somewhere to request that.
  • One of the reasons "References" is good at the end is that it doesn't matter how long it is it doesn't get in the way of the substance of the article. Ref.s section can be made smaller type, hidden or put in a window, but these are all a bit gimmicky and not very accessible. Not sure they are deprecated, but maybe. Probably better to move to fewer references in due course, at the moment there are city papers from all over the US and most news channels are cited. There may be some duplicates too.
  • The level of citation is good however.
Rich Farmbrough, 07:36, 8 November 2009 (UTC).

RichF re Ft Hood #2

Thanks for above but my actual first message to you went 'missing'. (Sorry) This is what I was saying.

RichF
This needs a rewrite under Fatalities, as there were 13 killed and all 13 names are now listed ,
"The names so far released of those killed are:" rewrite as perhaps:
"The names released of those killed are:" or "The names of those killed are:" or "Those killed were"

--220.101.28.25 (talk) 07:39, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

Of course there is no guarantee others may not die. I will review the article. Rich Farmbrough, 07:58, 8 November 2009 (UTC).
Glad to see you're still contributing to the discussions! Keep up the good work. HJMitchell You rang? 11:57, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

'ello HJMitchell

Yep, still browsing around. Nice 'Injured' table by the way.
Have you had a look at the 'Scridb' website where Hasan is alledged to have made comment on an 'essay' about martyrdom? It was referred to in the press early on. To my surprise it is still available (as I noted on the Ft. Hood talk page). Thought the site admin would take it down. I've got a copy but haven't read it yet! --220.101.28.25 (talk) 12:25, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

Cheers, it took me bloody ages! I hate wikitables! Thankfully that one was pretty simple, but I still struggled! I was going to do it yesterday after I did the fatalities table but the article was too busy- 4 edits a minute at one point! It seems to have quietened down now. Whether that's because it not even 7am CST or because it's dropped off the front pages I don't know.
I did read the link you put on the talk page but I'm not entirely sure how we could make use of it in the article. I'll add it in if we can find a place for it, though. Any ideas?
Btw, I noticed your conversation with Rich. I'd suggest asking a bureaucrat about taking your edits with you- there's a list of 'em- they're the ones who know that sort of thing. HJMitchell You rang? 13:06, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
There was a link to it (Scridb) in the Fort Hood shooting article at one stage, but it was removed. And it was mentioned in some early news reports. I just wanted it available in case it was proved it originated with Hasan. There was apparently, someone impersonating Hasan in the comments on that essay.
That user is now "Sorry, but NidaIHasan is no longer a member of Scribd". BUT NidalHasan (the shooter?) is apparently still an active account! Look the same don't they? NOT! The first accounts' L is in fact an upper case i ! Trickery! Not obvious in Arial font, so look at it in the edit mode with serifs!
Rich was a bit of an accident. I dropped him a talkback tag, but my message went missing. Must have wondered what I was on about. He ended up reading my message/s to you. Thus the info that I can keep my edits. Serendipity.
--220.101.28.25 (talk) 13:50, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
Well, the link's on the talk page. It may well gain more media attention in the days to come, in which case, it might be worth a mention in the article. Btw, I could use some backup on the talk page- someone's reignited the discussion over that flaming gun politics section. I've taken that picture of the gun out of the article. Again. And given my rationale on the talk page but some help would be appreciated! HJMitchell You rang? 22:16, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

Gun Politics

Troops rallied, fire support delivered. Special Forces on standby. Intelligence assets tasked.
Been catching ZZZZs, so was off-line, why it took so long to get back to 'work'.

If you have the chance, this line is a bit redundant, it appears twice in much the same form.

"According to his cousin, Hasan became more religiously devout after the deaths of his parents in 1998 and 2001 respectively.[37]"

1) at end of 'Early Life', 2) 8 paras down in 'Recent Events' section. --220.101.28.25 (talk) 02:15, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

I'll have a look. I wrote the first sentence as I recall. Probably a legacy of the fragmented editing. HJMitchell You rang? 02:25, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
Can't find it- might have been fixed already... HJMitchell You rang? 02:34, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
Nope, still there as of 02:25 'Recent Events' has been moved and parts of it become 'Motive'. Try a search for "cousin"? Deleting FIRST occurence, is probably easiest fix. --220.101.28.25 (talk) 02:57, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

Done. I got it- I credited you in the edit summary fwiw! HJMitchell You rang? 03:09, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

Strip Club

Made this comment on the Ft Hood talk page, replying to your comment FYI.

At the moment it IS in. Has been for maybe an hour? It is a bit doubtful. But it is published. Wonder if they have any security footage of Hasan at the club?. Remember the 9/11 hijackers did something similar, though that seemed to be more a deliberate 'fit in' deception action. Perhaps best ts say 'it is reported'? not a blank statement as it isn't verified ie. undisputable video/pictures.
--220.101.28.25 (talk) 06:48, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, I was in the middle of GIMPing together pieces of a map. My point was, whether its true or not, it has absolutely no bearing on the article or his actions. Him being at the strip club was not an indicator that he was going to start killing people, nor was it a motivation. If it's later revealed that he owed a hundred thousand dollar bar tab, that may be different, but as it stands it has no place in the article. - Drew Smith What I've done 06:58, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

Ft Hood Injured Table Removed

FYI, At about 13:00 (UTC) you much 'loved' table was removed. I was in the process of posting 4 new name for inclusion at the exact same time! Apparently some concensus over the Virginia Tech incident sets a precedent to NOT publish injured.
--220.101.28.25 (talk) 13:43, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

Damn. Well, to be honest, I'm not terribly surprised, though it's not normal to follow precedents on WP. That said, I'm not going to start a revert war over it- I have better things to do, quite frankly! I might get my ten pence worth on the talk page and take another look later, but I have a tort law lecture at 3 (GMT/UTC). Anything else interesting happened of late? HJMitchell You rang? 14:42, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

No nothing much happening. Finally had my 'dinner' (2am local time!) Got distracted sorting out who was newly named as injured in the reports and posting it on the talkpage. As soon as I posted it, I updated the page and found out the table was already gone! Annoying! Ce la Vie I suppose. 'Tort' Law, sound like fun ;). I like apple torts myself. --220.101.28.25 (talk) 14:56, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

Not a lot of fun! I kept getting flaming edit conflicts on the talk page, so I'm too late now! Oops! Missing a lecture to edit wikipeddia! Not good! 2AM? Where are you? I liked your vigorous defence of the protection by the way- you speak sense, but I don't think those 2 IPs liked it! HJMitchell You rang? 15:11, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

I'm in the wide brown land of Oz. And "Damn the IPs' full speed ahead!" The latest few talkpage IP posts have been plain silly. Wonder what they'd do if the article wasn't protected? I'm going to get overdue sleep! zzZZzzzZZZzzzZZZZzzzzZZZZZzzzzzZZZZZZZ

--220.101.28.25 (talk) 15:55, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

I'm sure it's warmer down there than it is in rainy Lincoln! Fair enough, drop me a line when you're back on- I'll be on and off for most of the day I think. And that's exactly why it's protected! HJMitchell You rang? 16:04, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

Weather

You'd be surprised. Very Changeable. Last Tuesday 3/11 VERY hot ≈38°C Record. Thursday 4/11 under 20°C and raining. Saturday/ Sunday ≤20°C + Rain. Today Sunny then cloudy ≤20C --220.101.28.25 (talk) 16:21, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

And I thought only the English moaned about the rain! I see somebody's taken it upon themselves to create an article on Hasan... HJMitchell You rang? 23:21, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

Mainly it never falls in the right place. We are still largely in drought here! Yes, I noticed new page had a look at who was at it. Interesting. Must be discreet. Not forget this is NOT a private page!
Was a guy called Hasan Akbar who fragged a few officers (in Iraq) I think in '03. Interesting coincidence. It's there under See also on Fort Hood shooting page, in case you haven't noticed. --220.101.28.25 (talk) 03:38, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

An account

Why don't you get an account? You seem to know plenty about how wikipedia works, and seeing your custom sig it's clear you want people to recognize you from other random IP's. So why no account? - Drew Smith What I've done 19:12, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

Fort Hood cite ERRORS

Can you fix these while you're in the vicinity? Thanks! --220.101.28.25 (talk) 19:39, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

No, my Internet connection is lagging - this would require much more page loading than changing one link. This error occurs because someone has deleted some references - if there is a reference used multiple times you can name it and use shortened version it elsewhere in the article, if the reference containing the source is deleted, but shorthand references are not this is what happens, because the software has no text to display. You can correct it yourself - these errors show the names of shorthand references, just go trough article's history find original sources and replace one of the matching shortened versions with it. For example, if you have error tag with name "NAME" defined in <references> is not used in prior text. original citation which contains source looks like <ref name="NAME">source</ref>, short version for that is <ref name="NAME"/> ~~Xil (talk) 20:18, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for getting back to me. Due to the articles protected status, I can't fix it personally. I'm 'only' an anon IP. I have also asked another editor about to have a go. Thanks again. --220.101.28.25 (talk) 20:28, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

Hasan presentation

You're welcome. It can certainly be placed in the Hasan article too, as it is relevant there. --JohnnyB256 (talk) 01:43, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

Rather IS in the Hasan Article. Darn those article 'splitters'. I think they pipped 'us' by 13 minutes!! (Hasan Edit 17:04 vs Fort Edit 17:17 UTC) Oh well, it's not a competition! But I'm surprised I was apparently the first to find it.
  • ps. I posted that info @ 14:34, 10 November 2009 (UTC), isn't anyone else 'trolling' the net for relevant data?
    --220.101.28.25 (talk) 03:45, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
Glad it's there. Say, have you thought of creating a user account? In five days you'll be able to edit semiprotected pages.--JohnnyB256 (talk) 14:53, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

Lest We Forget

I saw it earlier. Good on you. Anyway, what do you make of all this? Have you seen the AfD? I have a habit of stumbling into these controversial AfDs! To be honest, I don't think it'll make a difference- it'll be a no consensus (too many people who have no idea what they're talking about not even bothering to look at the article before they "vote") in which case the default is the status quo. Of course, if it wasn't for the status quo, there wouldn't be a problem so WP policy seems to defeat itself there! HJMitchell You rang? 12:07, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

AfD Hasan?

You mean AfD re the 'Nidal Malik Hasan' (NMH) page? Had a quick look. Have to take another peek. I also noticed Eds. have started deleting/'moving' stuff in Ft. Hood Shooting(FtHS) that they think is un-needed because they think it is only needed on the NMH page. Or because they can't be bothered to 'research'/find or 'Google' their own material. Or by borrowing they may ensure that their 'pet' page stays in. Very little/no discussion over the removals too. Like for hours!
For over an hour ≈ 20-21:00(?) 10 Nov.(UTC)there was a BIG pile of broken 'cite' references on the FtHS page because Eds. (not Xil) were apparently too busy edit warring to make the article look respectable! Eds. I dropped messages to ask them to fix it too! Dissapointing!
I've noticed a few 'policy' discrepancies myself ie. Beltway Sniper attacks has a list of injured, but as you know they were removed from FtHS. Am I being indiscreet?, as the whole WORLD can read this if they want. Don't want to make enemies!
--220.101.28.25 (talk) 12:49, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

You're allowed to express your opinion on your own talk page. Well, within WP:CIVIL at least. This is getting daft- we don't need two articles repeating the same thing but it's what we've got. Like I say, the AfD will probably be a "no consensus". The shooting article itself though is looking quite respectable though. The "injured table" was probably doomed anyway. I'm not sure it adds much to the article to name them all. I don't know about the edit warring, but the cite errors can be tricky- they're not always easy to fix, especially with the reference system the article uses, even if it is the best in the circumstances. Do you have an email address? There's something I want to say, but off WP. Put it on my talk page if you don't want to put it here or email it to me via WP. Cheers for that. My offer stands if you want it. Any drama I might be interested in? HJMitchell You rang? 22:17, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

Understood. Just got may butt out of bed. Found Hasan has been charged. Might end the alledged /shooter/suspect arguments. One term that didn't come into it was POI ('person of interest') Which I picked up from the Richard Jewell (Olympic bombing) case.
Drama? It's Friday the 13th here! How about that. ≈+½ hour for you? Roughly on 'GMT' aren't you? Just had a phone call from some Indian call centre. Do you get those annoying calls too. And my PC was running S L O W. I--h a d--t o--c l o s e--s o m e--o p e n--w i n d o w s. Now it seems ok. Just taken 20-30 minutes to type this up!
Just now, TV news kid(Greek/Australian) 'bashed' by 'Moslem' students for eating a salami sandwich during their Ramadan! First time I've heard of this sort of thing. They'll get pulled in line, their parents will proably do it too! Things aren't too bad racially here, AFAIK, in general.
Did you get my mail about what I 'posted' on the 'shooting' talk page?
--220.101.28.25 (talk) 00:29, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Well, it sounds like you're having fun! Yeah, I'm in GMT (or UTC or whatever else you want to call it!). I did have a look at that, but I wasn't quite sure what to make of it. To be used in the article, the image would have to be "free" and any observations about the use of the medication would, I'm afraid, probably be OR unless it's been alluded to (specifically in terms of Hasan) then we probably can't make much of it. That said, I suggest you run it past someone like Rich who's probably more qualified on the subject than me. HJMitchell You rang? 11:18, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

It's in the news now! Time-[2] Over at Nidal Malik Hasan land someone posted it on the talk page about 20 hours after I posted it! Some discussion of the drugs, [3] which I didn't want to got into then. But they're all in Wikipedia! I mean an AIDs drug? I went Whoa! Then a cough suppresant Benzonatate, and an antibiotic Azithromycin or Clarithromycin. Anyway take a look, if you're interested.

Allegations [4] that SoA on Hasans' business card [5] means 'Soldier of Allah'. And that SWT means Subhanahu wa ta'ala. Interesting.

I seemed to get this message notification very 'late' for some reason. About 3+ hours ago (10:00 UTC?) my toaster-oven went SNAP/CRACKLE & POP, and the PC, fridge etc all went dead. Friday the 13th? Blown fuse! Fortunately I'd just finished cooking a nice bit of steak, but I had to stuff about 'fixing' the fuse. I got the power on again, ate. Only got on-line at ≈22.00 local 11:00 UTC, was looking at a few non Wiki things then finally got the notice and here I am.

Other than that yesteday saw "The Time Travellers' Wife" movie. It was alright actually. But, looking forward more to "2012" in about 10 days and then "Avatar" --220.101.28.25 (talk) 14:01, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Milperra Massacre

Hello User:WLRoss,
I have left you this message as you have taken an interest in the Milperra Massacre article in the past.

This para (below) was added to the Milperra Massacre article back in August (!) with this edit [6] I am not that familiar with Wikipedias policies, but my guess is that this paragraph violates just about every one of them. ie. SOAPBOX, OR, NPOV, largely unverifiable, no references, no reliable sources and possible defamation of people named in this para! etc, etc!!

2001

In 2001 a New South Wales resident, Janette "Jenny" Gail Francis nee Hall, reported to police that a stolen photograph of her had been published in the 1989 Allen & Unwin edition of the book "Brothers In Arms The Inside Story Of Two Bikie Gangs", written by Sandra Harvey who was an employee of the state government, identifying her as the female murder victim, Leanne Walters. The NSW Police commissioner's office declined to investigate the claim regarding the photograph and potential defamation of Francis. A series of private legal challenges were begun but failed to proceed through the courts. In 2009 Francis approached Google Books, who had released the book in electronic form on the Internet, pointing out that page 50 of the book describes a photograph of Leanne Walters that is contrary to the image of her as printed in the book. Google Books subsequently withdrew the publication from the Google Book Search program[3]. The NSW Police have declined to launch an inquiry and Francis is still allegedly being publicly defamed as an associate of outlawed bikers (the Rebels, the Bandidos, and the Comancheros), although she was apparently not at Milperra that day and knew none of the participants in that event. NSW Police hold a copy of a Police interview with William "Jock" Ross in their Library and maintain their assertion that the picture printed in the book is Leanne Walters, and not Francis. Francis claims the stolen private photo had been taken in February 1984 when she was almost 28. Francis claims there is extensive documentation[citation needed] that supports her accusation that NSW Police had intentionally falsified the alleged death of an "innocent bystander" to enlist public support against Motorbike Clubs. Martin Brown, Allen & Unwin, and Rex and Lorraine Walters (who may be the parents of Leanne Walters), have declined to speak to Francis[citation needed].

It appears that you actually 'cleaned up' this text, but I suggest you look at the one reference provided. [7] and follow a few of the links attached to that web-page.

I assert that this paragraph should be deleted. As I have only been editing for 2 months, as a mere anon. IP, I would be BOLD, but want a second opinion.

--220.101.28.25 (talk) 11:15, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

I was undecided when I first saw this but chose leave it for a while until sources could be found and just edit to clean it up. It is actually a claim made by Francis and the events described above all happened so it is (marginally?) relevant. However, while checking it out I also found several other court cases involving Francis where she is claiming injustices against her by various other individuals and organisations such as Origin Energy and the Freemasons so the problem with her Milperra claim is obvious. Unfortunately the references (court documents and correspondence etc) contain a multitude of BLP problems such as home addresses and phone numbers of those involved. I feel one option is probably cutting down the text to a summary of around 50-100 words instead of the current detail. For example:

In 2001 a New South Wales resident, Janette Francis (nee Hall), reported to police that a stolen photograph of her had been published in the 1989 Allen & Unwin edition of the book "Brothers In Arms The Inside Story Of Two Bikie Gangs" identifying her as the female murder victim, Leanne Walters. A series of private legal challenges were begun but failed to proceed. NSW Police maintain that the picture printed in the book is Walters.

Thanks for getting back to me, I started replying as soon as I got your talback message. I had a long reply ready to go when my f&*(^g PC crashed and I lost 'everything'. So forgive me if this answer is not so great (or a bit blunt). Plus your S.A. heatwave is now here and it's at least 40°C+ outside.(hottest Sydney November day for 17 years! Ref. Channel 9 news report ≈07:11, 22 November 2009 (UTC) [LOL ;)]

This stuff by Ms. Francis has no place in this article in any way. If you followed the links as far as I did you'll know what I mean. This appears to me to be blatant use of Wikipedia as a Soapbox. See WP:NOT, WP:SOAP, NOT#OR, WP:NPOV etc. I'm astonised it's been in there for what, 3 months? If you don't delete then I probably will. According to the 'rules' it should already be gone! If you see any reason to NOT delete it please let me know! --220.101.28.25 (talk) 08:11, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Yellow Monkey - Oz Swimming Articles

Hello Yellow Monkey. Thought you might like to know I have greatly expanded the Alan Thompson (swimming coach) article (which you created Nov. 2006), in view of the current controversy. Please take a look if you can and see if anything need fixing, though I have already spent more time on it than I should have (Real world things that need doing)

I have put links to a lot of relevant reports on the Greg Rogers article talkpage, but haven't got time at present to add anything.

Currently there is no Terry Buck article. Maybe there should be one to give some info about the guy as allegations are just surfacing? Can't find much previous about him (on-line) myself. --220.101.28.25 (talk) 21:21, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

I see you've already updated Alan Thompson a bit, thanks!--220.101.28.25 (talk) 21:35, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

Buck is notable. A long time official. Not sure if he was officially a coach or had any notable students directly. Still he had a fight with Neil Brooks and I think www.swiminfo.com would have stuff itf their search works. I thought Thompson was on the panel that decided to ban the swimsuits YellowMonkey (bananabucket) (Invincibles finally at Featured topic candidates) 23:43, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

Terry Buck & Swimming Suits

Thanks for reply. Thompson certainly had things to say about the suits:
Quote:
Swim: Swimsuit saga undermining the sport, says Thompson
AAP Sports News (Australia) | July 18, 2009 By Krystyna Rudzki
MANCHESTER, England, July 17 AAP - Australia head coach Alan Thompson fears swimming's credibility could be fatally damaged by the dominance of the new generation of swimsuits at the upcoming world championships in Rome.
Thompson's team began their final preparations for the worlds on Friday with a training camp in Manchester, where they will also be based before the London Olympics, before leaving for Rome next Wednesday.
All swimmers took part, including dual Olympic ... "
Appears I can't create a new article, if you do create it, you can use this info. Subject to usual Wiki quidelines of course.

Here is information I have collated on BUCK

TERRY BUCK

Terry Buck (July 6, 1943(not 1944??)-March 2005) was an Australian swimming coach and also competed at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. He coached for Australia at an international level from 1976 till 1986 and was national coach of the Australian team 1976 to 1984. He died in a tractor accident on his Tweed Heads farm in early March 2005. He was 61. Buck was a life member of the Clovelly Surf Club, was a national surf lifesaving title holder, and Australian representative. http://www.bangladeshnews.net/story/574416
At that time he was still active in swimming and surf lifesaving, and coaching young people at the Tweed Heads Swimming Pool and Coolangatta Surf Club. http://www.bangladeshnews.net/story/574416 Buck was the only person to have represented Australia at the Olympic Games as an athlete, Head Coach and Team Manager (1992 and 1996) and also represented Australia in surf life saving, with the Clovelly Surf Club.[8] Buck also served the Australian Swim Coaches and Teachers’ Association as Chairman, and a term as director of Swimming Australia. Allegation and Investigation
In 2001 he was investigated for allegations of misconduct (sexual abuse?) towards children he had trained in the past. This was investigated by Strike Force Solano (created in late 2000). But charges were dropped in April 2001 due to “lack of evidence”. He was privately? sued March 7, 2001 by Greg Rogers, a 1968 and 1972 Olympian for A$750,000. Rogers offered to settle the civil case two years later if Buck paid him $50,000. but the matter was settled in September 2003 when both parties agreed to pay their own expenses.

"When I found out my brother, from the age of eight, was sodomized by this evil, evil liar, I told the facts that happened to me," Rogers told the Seven Network. "I have personally watched him interfere with over 29, 30 people." http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/coach-chose-victim-to-be-his-daughters-godfather/story-e6frg6n6-1225808399120

Steven Foley, a triple Olympian (1976, 1980 and 1984) was Buck's assistant coach in 1984-85 and later assisted the police with an unrelated child abuse case involving a swimming coach in Sydney. "I virtually grew up in the Buck household and some of my fondest memories are of Terry Buck," Mr Foley said. He said he had never witnessed any inappropriate behaviour from Buck and did not believe it at first.

The allegations emerged publicly in December 2009. This prompted Paul Shearer, to come forward with similar allegation of abuse by another ”top Australian swimming coach” http://news.ninemsn.com.au/national/981420/second-swimmer-abused-by-coach

“Mr Shearer kept his experiences secret for nearly 20 years before telling his parents after a broken marriage and two attempted suicides.”

  • It's pretty rough as is. Is the Bangladesh News a reliable source??. They say thijgs I haven't found anywhere alse, ie. that Buck competed at the 1964 Olympics. Any ideas? Comment?

If you have a library near you, you might want to look for Dawn Talbot and Don Talbot's autobiog as they were from the same era as Buck. Oh I remember also, go to Mark Tonelli's website. His self-published autobiog is not RS except for his opinions, but he is very critical of "Pass the Buck" and his admin style YellowMonkey (bananabucket) (Invincibles finally at Featured topic candidates) 01:31, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

I will ask if you've looked at the other sides talk page? (3 little black marks at least ) Don't know if past transgressions are of any import here(I assume not). It is late there, plead didminished responsibility! Don't answer if you're busy with 'legal' matters.--220.101.28.25 (talk) 01:55, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Nice to know someone's on my side. I can't be arsed with it. I've said my piece now I have an encyclopaedia to maintain- unless they're going to block an editor with 5.5k edits for his first, minor, transgression in 10 months of editing? Btw, I notice it just the same at the bottom of my talk page! Haha! HJMitchell You rang? 02:26, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
BTW, you're in Oz. Media here is reporting nothing but snow (someone forgot to tell them it's winter in this hemisphere!) what do you know about this cyclone thing? There's a discussion on it a WP:ITN/C- might help to have your input. HJMitchell You rang? 02:33, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Nice smiley! Sorry about the edit conflicts! I went to bed in the end (at about half past 3 in the morning UTC/GMT). Sounds like you're in for a nice day- what I wouldn't give to be in your hemisphere! It's been well into the minuses here overnight, snow, ice, general cold weather. Though for some reason the media are obsessed with it (snow. In winter. How surprising!). HJMitchell You rang? 15:15, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
Well nothing you can do about it, esp as I tend to type(accurately) rather slowly. Each hemisphere has its advantages. Remember we (NSW) are still very much in drought ≈70%? Enough water in Sydney for several years, water retrictions have been eased but some towns are still running out of water, literally NO water. Here you can only (legally) water gardens pre 10AM & after 4PM, was once Wed. & Sun. only.
  • You have to dig yourself out sometimes perhaps, but we have heatwaves (& flies). Last week was 30°C at 22:00 local time! and is shaping up to be worst bushfire season in years. Few years ago 500 homes gone in Canberra, and that our capital. Few years since fires hereabouts so won't be surprised if we have a smoky Christmas. Royal National Park has grown back since last burned out so cycle starts again. Could use some of your excess rain and snow. Sounds good as warmth does to you but too much of anything?
  • Ours trains stuffed up by weather as well. Too hot rails buckle,(think they'd have sorted that out in a HOT country!) Trains windows don't open much due to idiots who climb out and get killed. (Du'h!) Not all aircon either. Lightning takes out signals etc. Same same. Heard of the 'Millennium Train', "ready in time for 2000 Olympics", Ha. Years late. Second Airport? Ha. Northwest rail line? Things that "east" you

What are you doing at what, 3AM? I don;t think I'd mind any of that too much, my only issue with Oz is there are far too many things that want to east you (you have funnel-web spiders, great white sharks and whatever else)! Drop us a line when you're back on. HJMitchell You rang? 16:22, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Waah! I don't want to be "easted" by anything!. Funnel webs usually stay outside (ground dwellers). You forgot Redback spiders, Irukandji jellyfish, Blue ring octopus, Bunyips, Yowies, Tasmanian devils, Stone fish, Stingrays, Crocodiles, Dingos, Drop bears, Snakes(all sorts worlds deadliest!) "Uniquely, Australia has more venomous than non-venomous species of snakes." [1], Wild pigs, Wild Buffalo, Emus and if you get on the wrong side of a big Red 'roo one, on its's own, could likely give you kicking that a bunch of bovver boys would never approach. Even the male platypus has poison spurs! But no bears, mountain lions, skunks. Just saw something on the box about greenies down here in confrotation (ramming?) with Japanese Whaling ships. Passerby saw distressed kid, cars rego. put over shopping center public address, no response. So guys smashed window to free kid take inside hydrate, cold water allover. THEN mum turns up and gets a right bollocking from rescuer (on video!) Think kid may have been put into care O'night. People are STUPID. Probably not often an issue in GB but here kids, pets DIE far too often. Even a Cop dog handler forgot their working dog over a weekend, dog died (hyperthermia)(some extenuating circumstances) and got into big trouble, maybe even charged. Can't remember exactly. --220.101.28.25 (talk) 03:17, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
Just heard re kid in car, Yep she was charged. Appears in court in January. The kid was 18 months old! They always say "they never do it"! "Out of character" etc. Some dicks in past left multiple kids in cars for hours while they gambled and/ or drank. One bad thing about hot climate, too much grog!

So if you don't get eaten (or "easted"! My sloppy typing!) you'll die of hyperthermia! Sounds ideal. NOT! Why don't you add these things to P:CE? There's only about 3 or 4 editors who keep them ticking over. The plane that crashed was American so I can tell you before I've looked that it'll be on there already. Same thing happened in Scotland but that'll never get on the main page even if the American one does because we all know how important American news is! You don't know anything about Neighbours do you? I'm reviewing it for GA and the editors there could use a hand. HJMitchell You rang? 13:05, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
10 hours, 10 minutes away from the keyboard!!. The snow must have been deep! Or last minute Chrissy shopping? Looked at you local weather 2°C Brrrrrr. Yes that is all OLD news now, P:CE? I'll have to find out what that is first. Acronyms! If stuck in car or similar in hot weather you certainly can die here! Neighbours was never my cup of tea. Was Brooke Satchwell in that? Cute! Have to go late dinner calling. --220.101.28.25 (talk) 13:33, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

No, just sleeping. Then I come back on to the news that some admin has seen sense and effectively found me "not guilty" of edit warring (because I'm really an edit warring, trolling vandal!) which is one less thing to worry about. Try 1°C (MAX!)[14]. Oh, sorry. These shortcuts are useful but can be confusing! P:CE is the current events portal (WP:ITN/C is the candidates page for the main page In the News template) the closest thing WP has to a newspaper. Take a look, it's interesting. You can chip in on the debate at WP:ITN/C about what goes on the main page. You're worried about bushfires and I'm freezing my bollocks off!?!? HJMitchell You rang? 15:51, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

Ferrite core

An IP complaining that an article was written by an IP? Ha ha, very funny, you should do stand up comedy. The definition of a ferrite as a ceramic is not as dubious as you seem to think it is. SpinningSpark 11:02, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

Responding to your question

Hello 220, and thank you for your message at my talk. First, thank you for the kind words, which are much appreciated. Second, I'm happy to get involved in the kinds of things you asked me about, so please feel free to get in touch with me any time. And yes, things do seem to have quieted down a bit at Animal testing, although I find that any pages having anything to do with animal rights can flare up at any time. Now let me please say that (regardless of whether or not you decide to register, which certainly offers some benefits, including being taken more seriously by some editors, but which is emphatically not something anyone is required to do) I hope very, very much that you will remain active at Wikipedia. I hate the idea of anyone who wants to contribute constructively as you do, being driven away by someone being bitey. So that brings us to the main question you've asked me. I've looked at it, and I made a minor edit to the page in question, indicating my support for your edit. I looked at your edit, and I believe that it was entirely appropriate. After all, it's a page with zero references cited, so it's really a no-brainer. Generally, a good rule of thumb is that, whenever one puts a template at the top of a page, it's a good idea to explain why on the article's talk page, but in this case, I don't think that was necessary, because it's obviously self-explanatory. (However, next time I would not comment on other editors in your edit summary, which may have been what drew that editor's attention. Just comment on the content—here, the lack of references—and not on whether the other person had or had not made other edits, etc.: WP:NPA) My guess is that the other editor took it personally, which they shouldn't have, but probably did because they had edited the page before, and you, in effect, pointed out something that was wrong with it. Likewise, my advice would be for you not to take it personally either. As you noted, it's really not worth getting into a dispute over. I'd just ignore it and move on. In fact, the comment isn't that bad, compared with things I've seen. My advice is to just disregard what that person said, and most certainly don't let it turn you off from editing Wikipedia. --Tryptofish (talk) 21:59, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

Hi guys, sorry you are getting upset, I had not intended to upset anyone. First of all, there is no dispute, I fully support 220's addition of the template and work badly needs doing on that article to properly reference it. I certainly have not taking it personally, it is true I have done a small amount of clean-up on the article but I do not feel any knd of attachment to it. My comments were not meant to be bitey (well alright, just a bit, but it was meant light-heartedly) and my main purpose was to respond to your suggestion in the edit summary (and elsewhere) that ferrite might not be a type of ceramic and provide you with some reference material should you feel inclined to clean up the article yourself. Note that there are two meanings of ferrite, ferrite (magnet) and ferrite (iron) which may be at the heart of your confusion. Again, my apologies, this is certainly not the reaction I was looking for. SpinningSpark 23:11, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for that, SpinningSpark! It's very nice of you to say that. I think everyone involved means well, and it was just one of those things that happens in the course of editing. Happy editing to all. --Tryptofish (talk) 14:46, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

SSCS

That has been mentioned several times and completely agree. I have grabbed a few myself over the last few months but there are so many. In regards to your editing on those, ref name= is commonly "work + date" (per one of the templates if I recall) or author + work (per more standard practice off Wikipeida). Don't feel obligated to switch them all to a summarizing title (even though that is also seen around Wikipedia). Nice work on the clean-up.Cptnono (talk) 09:01, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

And I was really fond of the last layout. It labeled everything very clearly and was great navigation wise. It was chronological months ago and one editor also said it looked like shit after I changed it. If you don't like it enough, feel free to revert. I was thinking of letting it sit and just doing the copy and paste back if reviews were "no".
I don't know what optimum viewing is. I'm trying to track it down but haven't found it yet. I'll let you know if I see it.Cptnono (talk) 09:11, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
Now I'm confused! WTF just happened? My assumption is that Ingolfson did a copy paste and it threw a couple things off. It might have been me, though. Your cleanup wasn't supposed to be touched with my change. I'm going to ping him real quick and see where we are at.Cptnono (talk) 10:12, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Hey, been meaning to drop by for a 'nice sit down and a cup of tea'. Though I might need to make a food drop from what I have been hearing about your weather.(spare chicken below if you're hungry) Have I been busy? Haven't paid much attention, (oh Ref Desk has been fun, weird interesting questions sometimes). Have taken time to read some articles. Actually you are lucky to catch me as I am WAY overdue for some slee..zzz..p. Came across you at the request for Arbitration re (mass) Deletions of BLP, which I sort of stumbled across in my meanderings around the 'stacks' of Wikipædia. What are you doing stalking my contribs?!?! *Mock indignation* It's not too bad [[[Lincoln, Lincolnshire|here]] but bad weather in London means the world is coming to an end (if the BBC is to be believed!). Don;t get em started on the BLPs! I mean seriously? Deleting it because you can't tell that the references are under "links" or "sources" and the collateral damage is huge! You might be interested to know I came across Nadine Garner earlier (unreferenced BLP) and very quickly managed to reference what some would delete. I applaud them for bringing this to the forefront of the community's attention. I normally make a point of avoiding ArbCom- far too much drama goes on there- and I'd only edited there twice in 10 months until this kicked off and I've edited there twice in a few days! You know things are going to shit when admins are blocking each other! Almost makes me glad my RfA tanked! HJ Mitchell | fancy a chat? 23:13, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
Yes, exactly what I was thinking. More than blocking too. I believe that at least one long term Admin(31+k edits) has recently been temporarily blocked, though not BLP issues. Yes I am that 'funny feeling I'm being watched' you sometimes get, only way to know you're about and not too busy. Though, seriously, I haven't been 'spooking' around for weeks. Hi again, I was going to drop this on your page but realised you probably hadn't seen above reply. If you have the time and are interested, I had an 'interesting' time about 6 hours ago to do with a new article on Prof. Patrick McGorry 2010 Ozzie of the Year. Hard to AGF in cases like this! See Edit History and Editor Talk Page. See also, related messages below . I'm thinking Edit Warring, if it starts again.--220.101.28.25 (talk) 16:26, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

That's odd! Not much to do but keep an eye on it. If he crops up again, let me know or you can try WP:AIV or WP:ANI if I'm not around. HJ Mitchell | fancy a chat? 16:46, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
Yes, had an apparent POV (& one purpose account?) there, and dragged me and 3 other editors into the fray! This is where time gets lost as we all had more constructive things to do. And I put the 'welcome mat' out!! --220.101.28.25 (talk) 16:55, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
Some people evidently have nothing better to do. If they keep at it, you can give them warnings- start with {{subst:uw-vandal2}} and then the same but with 3 or 4 on the end. If they keep at it after 4 (or if they do something particulalry egregious) they'll probably end up blocked as a vandalism only account. HJ Mitchell | fancy a chat? 17:11, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

I think our editor has possibly earned something (a good trouting?) for NPA violation DIFF. Oh, I see they've got a # 2 civility(NPA) warning, but this is by far the worst I've seen so far! In fact I don't think I've seen anyone use that word here yet. (20 times! and the other word 3 times, plus another metaphor or two!) The editor he went at just deleted it. Still some crap from 7 hours ago left. Sounds a bit like an 'exiled' ex-editor. --220.101.28.25 (talk) 17:36, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

It's aleady Australia Day here & if I don't want to miss it I have to go and sleep, so we'll see what happens, toodles! --220.101.28.25 (talk) 17:50, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

I know, I was a bit blunter than I usually am. The summaries seemed to be looking for trouble. It should be an easy one to diffuse, as while they're adding facts, a bit of context can make it all seem more sensible. I put a note on Myrin's page, but didn't actually look at your edits to see you'd been adding to it as well (My fault - I do a bit of recent pages patrolling so often overlook IP's edits as minor - sorry). Unfortunately I dont know much about the topic, so cant really add to it effectivey. (Context is a great thing - like saying is dangerous to be a scientist, since research has been scientifically proven to cause cancer in rats..)Clovis Sangrail (talk) 10:55, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

No worries, I left a message for the originator of the article User:Moondyne, but I think they are offline. User:Myrin1 has restored my edits(at last look). I had more to go in when the not so constructive 'editing' started. I feel this editor has alredy stepped over the line in lack of Civilty and attitude. IMHO. If you know any Admins available I think it's worth rallying the troops! And that POV stuff has to go! Maybe I should drop a BLP warning on their talkpage? (& I gave 'them' a welcome message!) --220.101.28.25 (talk) 11:09, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
I think they may have gone for now - been quiet for a bit. I noticed Myrin has left a choice message on their page. I don't there's much anyone can do for now; as the info is only POV out of context, plus they DS actually changed what they'd written (a tiny bit), which means that they're cooperating with discussion. I don't know if anyone can be warned just for being irritating.. Cheers, Clovis Sangrail (talk) 11:21, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

The other aspect is that almost all ip addresses are periodically re-assigned, so at some point this won't be you anymore and someone else will be able to take credit for your work. With a registered account that can't happen. Beeblebrox (talk) 04:01, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

I don't really understand the ins and outs of that myself, the whois report identifies you as being on "Unwired Australia Fixed Wireless Broadband Access' so maybe the "fixed" part has something to do with it. Some ISPs change them every few minutes while others go years without re-assigning. The reference desk might be able to actually explain why. Beeblebrox (talk) 04:24, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for quick reply, I was about to drop you a 'talkback'. Might be because I tend to leave my computer on, though I turn the modem off overnight. What no spirits! <mock indignation> Shame I can't stand beer! (True!) If only I could brew scotch/ bourbon/ rum/ vodka at home! Now mead I've never had. Made from honey? Yum! --220.101.28.25 (talk) 22:26, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Hey there! 1) Your edit was perfectly okay, perfectly expected, and probably a good thing. I just saved my copy-in-progress over your edit. 2) The name thing is a really odd situation. I tend to favour the tax record over other stuff, simply because the necessity for accuracy there is tantamount. Still, I suppose we'll find out more in the days to come. Marta Bohn-Meyer

Hi. I noticed your changes to the Marta Bohn-Meyer article and have wrestled a bit to understand them. Would you say, please, why you changed the text, "the United States Unlimited Aerobatic Team" to just "the Team"? (That's now ambiguous.) Same question applies to the removal of the "Giles 300" text. Thank you! (edit follows) Please reply here; I'll see it. Tx again. Jim Ward (talk·stalk) 04:14, 17 March 2010 (UTC)

Hi back, James R. Ward. Thanks for letting me know I stuffed it up. I certainly didn't mean to remove vital details. I can only assume that in checking for linkable articles, I moved the text to the search box rather than copying it there. Perhaps that I was editing at 2:45 AM helps explain! Lara Bingles Birthdate

Hi I noticed you made a comment about Lara Bingles birthdate on her page. The birthdate of June the 5th was from a story she did in the German edition of GQ magazine in 2007 the GQ interview she did is no longer on the net but I believe they got her date of birth from her management company so its probably correct. I don't think anyone is 100 percent positive about her date of birth the only way to find out is to ask her and I doubt she would tell anyone. Mirrabooka (talk) 13:01, 17 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for feedback re Lara, Mirrabooka.
I thought it was 'safe to go to bed' when I finally saw the "message" box re your spelling correction. (Sorry I had 'nodded' off about time you 'sent'.)
Was going to say "If you're going to edit Wikipedia then bloody well edit it !" 30 edits in almost 4 years! December 2009 was particularly hectic I see, 6 edits!. ;-) Then I thought, "this person must have a real life!" Good for you!, but how do you expect to make Admin? >:-). Then some people do go 'mad' and do a 2,000+ edits in a month and quickly burn out. (I'm just under 640 for this month! Fess Parker died and I have done 48 edits there alone! James Arness 71 edits. Crazy days!, late nights! (almost 30 edits a day average this month! Twice my 'normal')
More seriously, I believe Max Markson currently represents Ms Bingle, and he and his PR company (MarksandSparks?) did appear to have accounts here recently (I saw them, swear it!), but I can't find them now!. We could possibly have asked them directly! (wp:OR !)
We can certainly use more editors!, have to keep the Vandals at bay. Parker just died and they say THIS about him! Anyway, Happy Editing!, as some say round here.
ps.I think there are bits of South Oz still lying about here from that dust storm! --220.101.28.25 (talk) 17:17, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

Alright I sent Lara Bingle a Tweet on Twitter yesterday asking what date in June her birthdate was and to my surprise I got a reply she said her birthday was June 22. So that makes the news article you found correct and the birthdate on Wikipedia wrong.Mirrabooka (talk) 05:48, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

Well that's interesting. Though, the year is likely far more important to Ms. Bingle than the day of the month (what diff. 2½ weeks?). Would not want to accidentally add a year to her age though! Nice of her to reply to a 'fan'. Lucky you! --220.101.28.25 (talk) 09:46, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

75.85.14.106 is being a bit nitpicky, but there's no harm in saying "according to a spokesman". It's true that "natural causes" is vague, but that's what the sources say (also for Dick Francis), and at least it says it was not murder, suicide, or accident. Some families don't feel like announcing specific causes to the public, and that's their right. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 01:07, 19 March 2010 (UTC)

Exactly what I was going to say. No reason to believe that at age 84 it was anything but natural causes. It's also what multiple sources say. A little OR, on his website Parker say he can't take any more requests for signed photos, so it suggests (only suggests) he was not overly well. It may have just been arthritis! See HERE if you're interested. Hope no one else notable dies, I should have been in bed 6-7 hours ago!. Oh well! --220.101.28.25 (talk) 01:29, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
I think Doodles Weaver was in his 80s, or at least close to it, when he blew his brains out, so you never know. If anyone else notable dies, I'll try and hold the fort. :) ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 02:25, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
Oops, he was just short of 72. Still, when you get into that age bracket, suicide seems kind of redundant. Like, ya made it this far, why stop now? ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 02:26, 19 March 2010 (UTC)

Indeed. But by that age one may be a bit senile/alzheimers etc. add other problems health/financial etc. and it may trigger (poor choice of words!) :( a suicide. This was on a Ref Desk recently and as I recall it is the young and old most likely to suicide. Actors do seem to be a bit 'twitchy', wonder if their suicide rate is higher than general? Hope there is no more to it than it seems ie. old age. Would be rather sad otherwise. --220.101.28.25 (talk) 04:07, 19 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the good wishes - sadly things have not improved in my personal life (unfortunately, to the point where "my Alice" isn't my Alice any more, after twelve years :(((. Life goes on, but slowly and fairly painfully at the moment. Grutness...wha? 12:23, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

Again, thanks for the kind thoughts and words. If flowers would help in this case I'd have bought up fields of them - I somehow doubt it would do any good though. I'll just keep taking one step at a time for now, time alone will tell whether anything can be rescued here. BTW - you must have had a good long look at my website, by the look of it! Grutness...wha? 00:17, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

I've fixed this refs, but I'm afraid these 2 are the only one we can call "primarery sources". Most (prob. all) of the other sites are based on this two and pl:wiki [sb wikified Machowo (as Machów) and everybody copied it from pl: wiki]. The official site in English (which You provided) is not a direct translation and is missing the name of the village. I'm affraid Machowo does't exist now and even before 1945 it was always less than 5 houses in it, so it's piontless to write about it - we don't have any information about it anyway. If we find anything in English I will add it as a ref. Regards! V1t 10:55, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

"I'm not sure if saying that "tiny village that no longer exists" is correct cos we don't really know what happened to it. It may not exist any more or it was incorporated into Narach. I think it's better to leave it as it is at the moment. We can change it when we find more info. Regards! V1t 12:24, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
(this is probably more relvant here than in the previous section) BLP's not an area I tend to deal with much - it can be very contentious, even more so when its actually a B*no longer*LP, as in this case. Articles of the recently deceased tend to get a lot of editing and come under much closer scrutiny. The relevant policy is at Wikipedia:BLP#Privacy of names, which suggests that the name of the daughter wouldn't be included - but actual practrice and policy are actually not identical in this particular instance, and if a name has been widely reported (as in this case - even here in NZ, pictures of the daughter kneeling in a church commemoration were widely seen) then there's usually no harm in adding it. I wouldn't normally expect to see the names of grandchildren in an article like this, though the fact that there are granchildren would be acceptable (normally you'd only find that sort of information if the later generations of the family had notability in their own right). I'd suggest running this one past Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Living people, or possibly Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Biography/Politics and government though - they'd be the most clued up on the normal procedure in cases like this. PS - don't worry, I'm keeping busy... the garden's had a decent fright from the amount of work I've done on it in the last few weeks! Grutness...wha? 02:48, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Volcano Eruption

Sure I'm not offended and thank you for your comments. I believe that comment regarding 10cm ash is clearly referenced in the citation I provided. I raised my concern regarding concurrent active Volcanos in the discussion page of 2010 Icelandic eruption page. :) regards, Nasser z (talk) 13:38, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

If this [15] is the correct reference, I can't find any depth mentioned (I do need new glasses). Mind you 10 cm would be perfectly possible! If not likely from what have seen of the eruptions. Perhaps they have edited the article and dropped that figure ? --220.101.28.25 (talk) 14:02, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

You are right, 10 cm was there when i cited the news earlier today. I've seen on TV today reports of desperate farmers who have lost the effort of years of work to the volcanic ash. Nasser z (talk) 14:44, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

And people worry about being late for a holiday! Though If I was going overseas to be married say (heard a few stories about that) I would be rightly upset. --220.101.28.25 (talk) 14:52, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

2010 eruptions of Eyjafjallajökull

Hello Aymatth2,
Good vandal whacking there but the 'editor' had made two quick edits, and you got the second one. I got the other. :-)
Thought you might be interested, so see DIFF if so. I see you are busy, so I apologise for interrupting the 'battle'.

I see what happened. I just started using Huggle, so am learning. This steady flood of random vandalism is a whole new world. I suppose I knew it was happening, and have seen and fixed the occasional incident on my watchlist pages, but nothing like this! Don't know if I have the temperament to do it on a regular basis. Sort of fascinating though, in a depressing sort of way. Aymatth2 (talk) 14:02, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Yes, it's amazing how people get their 'jollies'! Have fun with 'Huggle', I believe it's a lot easier than doing it all manually!--220.101.28.25 (talk) 14:15, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Query

Well I've seen two threads on this talk page where people want you to register. You also do not want to lose your history. Whu not make the account called User:IP220.101.28.25? And then people will know that you also made X amounts of edits under this IP.--White Shadows you're breaking up 20:27, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

IP220.101.28.25? that's a bit 'common' isn't it? ;-) I have been considering some appropriate potential user names. This a serious matter! Don't want to rush into it. :-)) Your interest is appreciated ! Happy Editing ! --220.101.28.25 (talk) 21:27, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
To you as well. It's becomeing very uncommon to have "Good IP's". Once you do register, I hope to see you around more ofter. (As an IP, I tend to not know who you are. To me your account is just a bunch of random numbers, like the rest of the IP's.)--White Shadows you're breaking up 21:40, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
It's not the number or the name. There is a lot(?) (of short lived) deliberate vandalism by registered editors. They usually register, start vandalising, and get blocked within short order. Example [16], first and only edit, swapping a photo. --220.101.28.25 (talk) 03:04, 2 May 2010 (UTC)
Yeah. I know. But most of the vandal-liek acts come from IP's that's why I joined (The day after I made my first edit).--White Shadows you're breaking up 17:43, 2 May 2010 (UTC)
I'd rather the vandals created an account- that way I can permanently hard block them! Btw, if you decide to create yourself an account, I'll be happy to use my new-found magical admin powers to manually confirm you so you won't be bothered by CAPTCHAs, edit filters or semi protection! Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 17:48, 2 May 2010 (UTC)
Whoa...Are'nt you a buisy bee HJ! Anyway, I do hope that you register. Just be sure to tell people that you registed under X with this account so we know it's you.--White Shadows you're breaking up 21:08, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

@ HJ Hate those Captchas! I only found out last day or two that I wouln't have had to put up with them if I had regstered! Have to RTFManual more! Shhh, HJ Now the vandals know! OMG :-0. I'm good, but I'm not that good! I can give you rollback, confirm you and a few other things that aren't really much use (but lots of fancy buttons to press- YAY!) but I can't make you an admin- you have to be extra, extra, extra special to do that. Yeah, the captcha things can be a pain in the arse but once you create an account, I can make them all go away (I only have to tick a box!) I'm sure we'll talk later (or, er, earlier or whatever it is down there!) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 23:51, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Silly Edits and Such

And now a mine explosion. You do get around! You fancy commenting on it at ITN/C? HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 16:57, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

I go where the 'Winds of Wikipedia' take me. Isn't this sort of 'proselytizing' for support naughty/illegal/frowned upon here? Thought about "this account" yes, final momentous decision, no. (You do know how late/early it is here don't you? (UTC+10! or 3:55+ am)! AND I was trying to eat (late) dinner and type at the same time! (This has taken me ages, have to try not to be so picky, but then I'll accidentally insult everyone!

  • If you have time, have a look at this silliness [17], and this [18] at May 2010 Sumatra earthquake. The 1st one, their 2nd edit, 2nd editor has been here for years and should know better! I've given both (I hope) appropriate messages.
  • Maybe also have a look at User_talk:75.2.209.226, almost no edit summaries, rather uncivil to several editors, accuses others of misusing templates etc. Seems like smelly 'socks' to me. ;-) More diffs available if required. Tomorrow (6-8 hours or so) maybe. Have to sleep! Bye!--220.101.28.25 (talk) 17:57, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
I had a look at your earthquake diffs- that's odd that an editor with thousands of edits would do something so stupid that a blatant vandal-only account did just minutes earlier. Nothing I can do for now though- I see you've warned them both, so we'll see what they do next. As for your friend, I see more important people than I are dealing with it :) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 18:07, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

←I first thought the Jaguar at the top of your talk page was the cat! Don't like cats?! Perhaps they have found you wanting? ;-) They can be picky, or are you a dog person? It does look like 'my' Beast (a name well earned!). If you can be a bit more explicit about the "more important people" I would be very interested, but if it's 'Secret Admin Business' I understand.
Wot still up? Even Admins must sleep, go to sleeeep, you are feeling drowsy, go to sleeeeeeep. zzzzZZZZ --220.101.28.25 (talk) 06:44, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

I made the cat in the editnotice a bit smaller- it was annoying people and my talk page is ridiculously busy, we wouldn't want people coming to moan at me to be slowed down by a cat now, would we? By "more important people" I just meant more experienced admins and admins who handle that sort of thing- I try not to get involved in too much drama- the person who cause all the dram will be forgotten in a day or 2, but the admin who did something controversial won't! ;) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 06:54, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

Better to take that off-wiki!) I won't post it because I'll be accused of admin abuse (again! Vandalism, May 2010

This is the final warning you will receive regarding your disruptive edits. If you vandalize Wikipedia again, as you did at Gary Taubes, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. --94.193.135.203 (talk) 11:58, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

For making one reversion to an article? not very likely. Issuing warnings, esp a final warning without any preliminary warning is not a discussion of your concerns about the Gary Taubes article. Please be more wp:civil. --220.101.28.25 (talk) 13:19, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

(e/c)Stuck my beak into an 'edit war' at Gary Taubes. 94.193.135.203 has also messaged Admin Beeblebrox about it. I too dropped Beeblebrox a note, but he isn't online AFAIK. Another Editor (Hello Spitfire!) has also reverted Gary Taubes back to where it was, just as I did, so I dropped them a note to beware of being accused of vandalism. I might also add that I had a very pleasant 'chat' with Beeblebrox some time back. I did also give 94.193.135.203 a final as they had been lvl 3 warned previously. That's about it! ;-) --220.101.28.25 (talk) 14:26, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

Hi ... 3?!

I wanted to catch up after our earlier chat at ANI... I reckon if you're ever in any doubt as to what to do, ANI is a good place to go - it's probably not the best place to go, but you can be sure someone will point you in the right direction!

In this case I think you're right to be concerned, but it's a little too early for dispute resolution. It was a useful post, however, in as much as you should now have pointers for handling the situation if it gets worse.

Incidentally, do feel free to fire questions at me - I've got an open talk page and I welcome visitors!

You may wish to be forewarned, however, that I come from the other side of The Ditch ;-) Resident in the UK, though...

Cheers, TFOWRpropaganda 20:01, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

Yes I think that was my first AN/I post actually. Quick response at AN/I was good. Done some UAA, one of which has revealed a hoax and 6 likely sockpuppets, see HERE We have 'spoken' before, can't remember, perhap on HJ Mitchells talk page? or The Ref Desk? I remember the NZ res in UK. It will come to me.(more likely an edit history perusa will reveall all)
As for that editor, I get uncivil when big changes are made w/o any edit summary, but if they had, I wouldn't have snooped and the error(and another that 'contributed' to this error) may have stayed in the Shuttle article! I am becoming more aware of vandalism problem as in my recent experience (User creation log 'patrol'), many first edits by newly registered accounts are vandalism, not just test edits either! It's a worry, as is my lack of sleep. I nodded off while writing this so it's about, 3½+ 2½ hours late(true!),and I am off to bed for a few more!' Later! --220.101.28.25 (talk) 23:48, 26 May 2010 (UTC)'

Not much info on it online, but I haven't spent a lot of time looking. Somebody (from Serbia?) has already been 'NPOVing' it, but I'm sure they were Nazi's not just German army! I don't know. Vandals attack all sorts of weird and generally unlikely targets! Spend a few hours on RfPP and you'll see what I mean! If it's not notable enough, it'll probably end up at AfD once the original tagger realises (though some people are scared away when they realise the editor who de-tagged it happened to be an admin). In other news, I had yet another attack on my talk page (morons, I wish they'd get bored and/or just f*ck off!). My protection log doesn't need padding- I've been an admin for just over a month and I think my protections and deletions (mostly PRODs, which is how I found this) are into 4 figures. Cheers. Yes, I should edit more often. I registered an account in 2006. I made about 600 edits. I return to editing on Wikipedia last week and made 500 edits within a few days. I have about 7,500 articles to copy edit. That should bump my edit count. Thanks, Davtra (talk) 11:21, 12 June 2010 (UTC)

Er Sorry! I assumed you had been editing slowly the entire time, my AGF fail! Better slow and steady. Some eds come in doing several thousands a month, but seem to burn out, or get a grumpy attitude. Even HJ had a 'slow' start IIRC. I think I might have done ≈900 in my 'best' month. 'Bout 30 a day, average. More yesterday I think. I've been 'patrolling' new users @User creation log. Bumps it up. Unfortunately, if they edit immediately too frequently are vandals. What about ≈5,000+ new accounts created a day? I wonder who all those other accounts are? Socks? of which I have found a few (incl. matching ones!), plus a hoax and other funny business. Agree about our friend needing an eye on. Definately seems AGF lacking. Happy (moderate) Editing! 13:19, 12 June 2010 (UTC)

No worries. My editing was slow because I was focusing on my writing. Rewriting stuff takes a lot of my time. I went through the user creation log once and I pushed the F5 (refresh) button every two seconds. It's addictive. Davtra (talk) 01:53, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

June 17 2010

Hi,

as per her personal Facebook page, GlobalBeauties.com, her official bio and all of her official modeling pages, her name is Jesinta. I agree about following references, but it's in everybody's best interest to follow correct ones (and I would argue that she knows how her name is spelled better than anyone else for that matter). I did include an official link upon correcting the typo, which is why I didn't add an edit summary.

A few links -

Fra77 (talk) 14:24, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi back, well it seems you have got me there! Unusual spelling. The only reference I could find had her as Jacinta! Small wonder I couldn't find more. I also tried Cambell rather than Campbell. Note that Facebook and similar self published sources are not regarded as reliable sources. You can't always trust what a person says about themself. Also the reference in the article had it as JAcinta, at the time. If you change something it is practically mandatory to immediately change the reference too. (I wonder if Jacinta is her 'official' name, but she's using Jecinta as her 'modelling' name?)
It's is still a very good idea to always add an edit summary. I was at the point of changing it back when I got your message. A summary of "as per new reference", or similar, would have stopped me.
I have to admit that as in your signature your user name is red, ie Fra77 (talk · contribs) I assumed you were a brand new account, which unfortunately have an alarmingly high level of vandalism (My bad!) px20. They register an account, deliberately vandalise a few articles and get blocked in a few minutes. They are only here to vandalise so they don't bother to make a user page. Therefore it would likely help if you just created the page to turn your signature 'blue'. (Just a thought!)
And please when you leave a message on a talk page, put ~~~~ (4 tildes) at the end to sign, or use the pen-like "signature and timestamp" button at the top of the editing window. Happy editing! -- 220.101 (talk) \Contribs 15:28, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi,

Jesinta is indeed unusual, but it seems to be the other main alternative to Jacinta. Interesting, I guess.

I did change the reference the first time I corrected the typo, but I must've forgotten to click on 'save' or something along those lines because for whatever reason, it didn't update the source with the new link I wanted to provide. I wasn't aware of it until I went and changed it the second time. I might look into creating a user page.

Thanks Fra77 (talk) 15:51, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Hmm, Jacynta maybe?
Can't seem to access her facebook, though I had trouble with the last one I tried to see as well. Possibly you had a conflict with somone who saved at the same time you did? Apparently it does not always show up as a edit conflict.
I think all you have to do to create your user page is click on the "User page" tab and follow instructions. I think you need some content to create it, but a single comma or full stop will, I think, do the job. Somebody did it for me, so no expert on it. What happens if your IP changes? I always wondered that.  Davtra  (talk) 02:35, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
@OpenTheWindows. What? Has the revolt of the IPs started without me? --220.101 (talk) \Contribs 16:32, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
@ Davtra. Loss of credibility? In reality I might lose 'edit credit', as I would be effectively a new account. There are ways of proving who I am. If I did register, I think WhiteShadows said they'd need a checkuser to make sure it was me! (See prior gasbagging, thought I think that was said on User_talk:HJ_Mitchell, not sure if they were joking or not!) -- 220.101 (talk) \Contribs 16:32, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

Why does eveyone want to chat at 4:45—5:20AM (AEST)! Can't be President as I am NOT US American (even born)! Mind you, in about 4 hours Oz may have a red headed, female, Welsh born Prime Minister! See Julia Gillard How did you know I looked like this? Nerd! Hmph! (nb Just saw your talkpage reply to my cmt re. username violations. Silly zxzxzxzx usernames should be Verboten! I never knew we had a new PM until I saw 220's post. I don't watch the news. I feel nothing special. It's just politics. Politicians scream, yell, argue, back-stab each other. It's fun to watch at first but it's like history repeating itself. It gets boring and ... **falls asleep**  Davtra  (talk) 10:36, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
She's taken, so as much as I like redheads--, her 'domestic partner' is a hairdresser so that's a plus. We actually have an article "Spouse of the Prime Minister of Australia". Wonder how long it's said spouse? Maybe since Gillard became deputy PM? In the "Lists of Prime Ministers of Australia" nav box it also referred to 'Prime Minister's wife 'until about 25 mins ago!. --220.101 (talk) \Contribs 12:16, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

"Asleep"? For 2 weeks? --220.101 (talk) \Contribs 09:15, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
...uh, I hope not . A combination of sleeping, taking time out to find new music to play and write my own (it's off season for pianists, no one seems to want an accompanist now), and avoiding Wikipedia in general. Or attempting to, anyway. sonia♫♪ 09:28, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
I've been meeting with other IP editors. I would like to introduce 69.181.249.92 to you. This IP is a good IP. It fought with user Bender176 who dislikes IP users (see the discussion pages).  Davtra  (talk) 09:30, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
Yes I saw that, Bender176 (talk · contribs) got put in the 'naughty corner' for being a dick. 69.181.249.92 has 3,125 edits in 17/18 days! Take a look at 76.117.247.55 (talk · contribs) too, they're 'famous'! Lots of edits, even had a pseudo RfA! WTF Davtra?, it's all part of the Cabals masterplan to harass poor old IPs to make them sign up? I knew it! I don't think it's like that, but I don't edit in highly controversial areas, and most IPs are not 'static' like me! -- 220.101 (talk) \Contribs 13:13, 11 July 2010 (UTC)

Grammatically, it is correct. You can never, ever identify a person's gender solely by looking at its username/alias ... it's just computer text . How do you refer to a person if you don't know its gender? Use s/he (a she-he) or herself/himself? I assume you visited my user page and saw my declaration that I'm a male? If I renamed my alias to Lady Davtra ... actually, this give me an idea for my next alias (I might even rename it now! This will fool everyone ).  Davtra  (talk) 11:13, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

Hey 220.101, you know that templates can be done with {{tl|templatehere}} instead of having to use <nowiki>? Btw, after looking at your cheatsheet and stuff, I made myself a non-admin dashboard... very incomplete but I'll work on it :) As an aside: I recently discovered how little fun being an admin is. sonia♫♪ 10:29, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
{{Very cool}}User:Sonia/dashboard. Though as a long-time WP:RFPP stalker, I think you should stalk RFPP too ;-) I also think there should be a "Very cool" template... TFOWR 11:09, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Yep, it's looking good. Is there a difference between using <nowiki></nowiki> and {{tl|templatehere}}? I can see that using {{tl|templatehere}} can save me some time ... especially when I redid my cheatsheet. I had to wrap the all code using <nowiki></nowiki> which took a while.  Davtra  (talk) 11:20, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
The "tl|" trick formats the template nicely - whenever I have to use <nowiki> I end up sandwiching it between <code>s so it looks "different" to the surrounding text. And it's quicker! Oh, and with "tl|" you end up with a link to the template, too, which is handy sometimes. TFOWR 11:34, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Cheers TFOWR! I started to wonder how people linked it to the template.  Davtra  (talk) 11:46, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
tl produces {{template}}, tlx produces {{template}}, and tld produces {{template}}. All the variety one could wish for! sonia♫♪ 01:20, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

Nota bene* WT% (edit conflict) On 'my' own talkpage!
Nope Sonia, didn't know that one, mostly I picked stuff up from what others are doing. Though <nowiki.></nowiki.> is a single menu click below(edit mode). Again, is there a master wiki syntax source? On MetaWiki maybe? ps. I 'borrowed' that sheet from someone who 'borrowed' from someone else (not my work!) Plus experimenting, see? {{great}} = thumbs up Great! * As for '{{Very cool}}' TFOWR, I'm sure it's actually quite easy to do, esp. for an Admin! 'Template talk' would be the venue, I think? --220.101 (talk) \Contribs 11:54, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
You could also do it using your own user space (User:Example/Template). About those edit conflicts, it's good to copy your text before clicking "Save page". I believe you will lose your reply?  Davtra  (talk) 12:00, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Nota bene* You should not 'lose' anything, though I do usually copy it for easy re-pasting. I just gotta type faster!

Reply to Falcon at their talkpage re Northampton State Hospital

Hey Falcon,
What happened to don't template the regulars? >;- ) I was actually returning an existing link that had been removed when I reverted some unsourced and rather POV edits, DIFF, which have now been returned to the article.

As lots of Kirkbride Buildings, the asylum was a very unpleasant place to live, with some of the brutality including lobotomies, abuse, and overcrowding. Various shock therapies, restraints, and sleep drugs were used in brutal ways to try and keep the crowded asylum under control. After the asylum was abandoned, the buildings became overgrown with vegetation and the wings of the buildings were left to slowly rot and decay until it's demolition.

All unsourced ! Please have a look at the diff ! --220.101 (talk) \Contribs 19:26, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

(edit conflict)Falcon, your revert didn't actually remove the link that I (apparently) got picked up on:
Color aerial photo of Old Main: http://media.photobucket.com/image/northampton%20state%20hospital/newenglandoddities/NorthamptonStateHospital-ArialVi-1.jpg ,
or was it the YouTube link? Anyway I have now reverted you (sorry!) and the text mentioned above (+ YouTube link) is gone. But there is a lot more similar! This article has only one source and is also(or was?) proposed for deletion! Regards and Happy Editing! --220.101 (talk) \Contribs 20:01, 28 June 2010 (UTC) (added @ 20:37, 28 June 2010 (UTC))

Get an account already!

What the header says, I suppose! My talk page is protected at the minute (more moronicness from morons!). There's an update to the software coming in at some point in the next few weeks that I hope will solve the problem, but you're the only IP who ever has a need to edit my talk page. Create yourself an account- I'll confirm you and give you rollback and reviewer on the spot. You've no idea how much easier that would make editing! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 10:49, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

  • strong support this request for accountship; unwilling candidate will handle the (mop? dustpan? toothpick?) better than most of the accounts already existing. {{Sonia|ping|enlist}} 10:59, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
Hi HJ, you are keeping strange hours! Staying up to watch the soccer? Think you have vandal problems? look at what this poor editor Christina Silverman (talk · contribs) copped between 01:41, and 02:01, 27 June 2010! Sample [20].
  • What about your 'threat' to "blue link my RfA"! HJ? Errggh!
  • I answered your "Sleep? What's that?" query above. Though my 'clock' has been arguing the issue with me too!
  • Can someone have a look at this re-direct Here I reverted when someone deleted it as "bullshit advertisement crap"(?) However it seems it's not working. My 'fix' attempt did'nt work. Can't figure it out. --220.101 (talk) \Contribs 12:28, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
Hi Sonia. Appreciate your support. Did you notice my Beethovens' 5th above? "Dah dah dah dum,.." Toothpick probably, never that good with mops and dustpans! (Or maybe a 'Dustbuster'?) --220.101 (talk) \Contribs 12:28, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
I'm hoping that the bug fix I'm waiting on will solve my vandal troubles. If you create an account and let me load you up with rights/flags/permissions/whatever politically correct term we're using now I promise I won't bluelink your RfA in the foreseeable future, how's that? As for the vandalism, I dealt with a very similar vandal this morning who created an account named [name of admin who blocked him redacted] is a f4ggot and insisted on posting his message everywhere he could think of. There was another nutter who targeted a few talk pages I stalk the other night. Y'see, your fellow anons are giving you a bad name. If you created an account, you wouldn't get "warnings", like the one above 'cos you'll have your shiny new username put on a whitelist after a while! I can even move your userpage and talk page (though sadly not your contributions) to your new username. You can always go back to being an IP if you don't like your account, or ask someone more important than me to rename you if you decide you don;t like your name! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 12:44, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
Account Hm, maybe. I'm just a "if it ain't broke" sort. (Other things going on. Username actually least of my concerns!) And I have hit 6013+ contribs! (Happy 22,173+ to You!) Must be some way to at least be credited/prove that was my IP?. I promise if I see any HJ M1tchéll or HJ Mítchell (thats a subtle one!) accounts I'll let you know. Thought I was whitelisted, or can't that be done for IPs?
It was working for me when you first posted it or I would fixeded it for you! I didn't know you could get an edit count for IPs! You learn something new every day! As far as I know, IPs can't be whitelisted rather like I can't load you up with lots of extra buttons to make things easier while you're an IP, but how long would it take you to create an account? Thirty seconds maybe? Then you wouldn't have to do anything more, but you'd be able to do more, like create articles, without having to ask other people. :) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 13:34, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

With the re-direct I may not have waited for it to "propagate" though the database (just a guess!) For the edit count, do one as normal, for youself say, then paste any account/IP No into the browser address bar exactly where your account name is: ...name=HJ+Mitchell&lang.... This http://toolserver.org/~soxred93/pcount/index.php?name=220.101.28.25&lang=en&wiki=wikipedia gives my count. You may be interested in this link re 'football hysteria' [21] The Beeb quotes Wikipedia!--220.101 (talk) \Contribs14:23, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Hey HJ! As an admin, you can make this, right? Anyway, 220, there may even be a way to manually relocate your 'tribs, if the devs agree. And "if it ain't broke..."- yes, it is broke. You ain't going to lose much if you create an account, not as much as you'll lose staying- especially considering you're having flags dangled in front of you, just out of reach. So... please? {{Sonia|ping|enlist}} 20:20, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
The devs aren't known for being overly obliging, but then if you had the job of running the technical stuff on some of the web's most visited sites, I suppose you wouldn't be! 220, the second you create an account, I can make things so much easier for you. You know as well as I do how the current events articles of which you seem quite fond often end up semi protected, wouldn't you like to be able to edit them yourself? ;) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:32, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
