Information icon Hello, 1310greg. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. TheCarch (talk) 00:31, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm GorillaWarfare. I wanted to let you know that one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to The Daily Telegraph (Sydney)—has been undone because it appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Help desk. Thank you. Request reason:

Hello, I have attempted to edit The Daily Telegraph to update it with factual, timely information, and to change the overwhelmingly negative tone to The Daily Telegraph Wikipedia page. I am not seeking to include advertising material, but factual information about the newspaper's readership

Decline reason:

Since you don't seem to see how "The Daily Telegraph is more than a newspaper. It is more than a website. It is Sydney and NSW in words, images and video. It is a constantly updated snapshot of the brilliant, vibrant, pulsing metropolis of Sydney (and the state) and all of its people and ideas." is promotional and advertising, there are no grounds to remove the block. You also cannot whitewash the article about your newspaper to remove negative coverage of it. Wikipedia articles summarize what independent reliable sources say about a topic, be it positive or negative. You will need to read conflict of interest and paid editing. You won't be unblocked to, in the short term, edit about your newspaper. If that is your only goal here, this is the end of the road. If you are interested in contributing to Wikipedia more broadly, please tell what topics you might edit about. Once you show us a good edit history showing you understand relevant content and sourcing policies, you may later be permitted to indirectly contribute about your newspaper, but not now. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 08:43, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
