The company had a location at Newtonbrook Plaza at Yonge Street and Cumber Avenue, in Willowdale, as of 1982.[1] By 1983, they had 18 locations in the GTA.[2]

With 7.1 common shares, Pet Valu was set to begin trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange on 7 July 1993.[3]

In July 2009, Pet Valu agreed to be acquired by Roark Capital Group at $13.68 a share or a total of $143.7 million.[4]
