Areas of Interest and Research[edit]
Physical condition and health can have a huge impact on the ability to conduct research and to write non-fiction books. At times more research is done in the areas of personal health than in the studies of history and anthropology.

- "Alpha lipoic acid, an over-the-counter antioxidant supplement, eases the burning, pain, and numbness associated with diabetic neuropathy, say researchers. In a new study, alpha lipoic acid offered quick and dramatic relief without the side effects of drugs currently used."[1]
- "The diabetic state, in both humans and experimental animals, is associated with oxidative stress. Lipid peroxidation of nerve membranes has been suggested as a mechanism by which peripheral nerve ischemia and hypoxia could cause neuropathy. ... The antioxidant therapy with LA improves and may prevent diabetic neuropathy. This improvement is associated with a reduction in the indexes of lipid peroxidation. Oxidative stress appears to be primarily due to the processes of nerve ischemia and hyperglycemia autooxidation."[2]
