Play: Truth, Forgiveness, and Sacrifice The play goes as follows:

Kalyani: Let’s chant our prayers before the class, Sameer why don’t you start.

Sameer: Yes teacher

Every one chants the prayer – aloud

Kalyani: Ok, I wanted u all to do the annual project on Saints, Let me divide the class in two groups. I want the project turned in by next class – sounds good?

Kalyani: How about u start researching – let me know if u need my help

Malini : how many Saints?

Kalyani : MMMMMMM 5-7 is Ok for each group

Kalyani Walks out

Group A (right of the teacher – Malini, Neil and Pranay) immediately starts researching)

Malini : Hey Neil and Pranay – I remember seeing an article in news paper about that, so have some idea on how to do it

Neil: Ok Malini let’s do it

Pranay: Let’s start working

Group B (Left of the teacher – Danya, Sameer and Sanjay) – start playing on the game boy, listen to music or just chat.

Sameer – hey u guys – what about the project??? No one responds

He gets busy with his game boy again.

Group A is done with the Project

Pranay – hey we are done – all of them look at the project – wow that is great. Neil – says – lets make copy for every one in case we loose it.

They make four copies

While leaving Malini forgets the original on the table

Group B every one leaves while Sameer being the last sees the project copy and picks it up and goes

Sameer comes back on Stage – It is his house scene

Sameer : I am sure the other two will not even work on the project by next class and here I have the completed project – just have to change the name.

No No – I will not do that just copy it and say I did it.

No No – that is also wrong – but what if I turn the project in before the other group does – yes yes that sounds good. I will say I did it. No Noo……………..shows as if he is in double mind.

Finally he just sits down rubs the name and changes them. Looks at the project – Feels good.

Again the class scene

Sameer: Hi Danya and Sanjay – I have written down the project on Saints

Danya: Thank you Sameer – what would we do with out you

Sanjay: Let me take a look

WOW it looks good – you really worked very hard all by yourself

Sameer : YeeeeeeS

Sameer : Takes the project and submits it to the teacher.

Kalyani – very good Sameer, Danya and Sanjay

They all leave the class

Malini : is searching for the her copy – may be I left it some where

Pranay: Don’t worry Malini – good we have a copy of the same

Neil: Let’s just submit it.

They all go together and Malini submits the project and they all leave.

Kalyani (while grading the project): This project is same as the one that I had in my cabinet. What…Both the group have exactly the same project. Strange – first they steal it and then they also copy it. She calls for Sameer and his group.

Kalyani : SO you all copied the project.

Sameer : No teacher I wrote the whole of it myself

Danya and Sanjay: yes yes we helped him collect all the material

Kalyani: looks at Malini, Pranay and Neil.

Pranay and Neil look at Malini – she just gestures them to keep quite

Kalyani: So you guys copied the project – tell me who stole it from my desk??

Sameer has confused look he looks at group A

Malini, Pranay and Neil look at each other but donot say any thing.

Kalyani : leaves the class room Sameer and his friends also leave

Pranay and Neil ask Malini why you did not tell the truth to the teacher?

Malini: The very fact the teacher said that the project is stolen is wrong – so there was no point saying any thing. Also, my copy of the project is missing and most likely Sameer found it and turned it in. Our saying anything would neither help Sameer or his group in understanding what they are doing is wrong

They all leave

Sameer goes with his parents to watch a cultural program on Gita chanting

Chapter 16 first three sholka and meaning played in background

Smruti and Shreshtha inact Krishna and Arjun.

Sameer: I never realized what a big mistake I am making. The other group did not tell as they were just trying to help me realize my mistake.

I agree there no greater virtues that truth, honesty and sacrifice

He goes and talks to others in the group.

Sanjay: we also told a lie so let’s all try and correct it.

Danya: That is true

They all go and talk to Group A.

Sameer: I am sorry it is my entire fault

Sanjay and Danya : I think all of us are at fault.

Malini : It is Ok, as long as every one realized the mistake, let’s just talk to the teacher and make one project with more number of saints.

Every one agrees to do a single project with more number of saints.

In the mean while

Kalyani – Oh! I found the project it was at my house – I feel so bad that I told the kids that they stole it. Rather it is done very well. But any way they have same copies – I will ask them to just increase the number of saints and do one project.

All students enter

Sameer: Teacher, I am very sorry It is all my fault………

Kalyani: It is Ok as long as you have realized it…..I also realized my mistake……I am sorry too.

I was thinking that all of you do one project with more number of saints

Pranay comes forward (Gita sholka play in the back ground)

Pranay: Indeed Truth, Honesty and Sacrifice are the greatest virtues that can solve any problem and make all of us better human being. Didn’t you see how truth, honesty and sacrifice prevailed and our class solved a seemingly difficult issue.

Thank you
