Heaven and Hell's first studio album is expected to be released in early 2009.[1] The album will be the band's first under the name Heaven and Hell, however the band members have played with each other previously on Mob Rules and Dehumanizer as Black Sabbath. They also played together on Heaven and Hell, minus the drummer, hence the band name.

Details[edit]

History[edit]

The idea for a new album originally came about as the band recorded new songs for the The Dio Years compilation.[2] Iommi commented that Heaven and Hell agreed on an album whilst the band was in Japan on their 2007 tour.[3]

Release date[edit]

Appice and Dio had originally said that the album would be released in 2008,[4][5] however an official press release from the band disclosed that the album's intended release date would be early 2009.[1] Iommi has said that Heaven and Hell will record the album after the Metal Masters Tour, after a short break.[6][7] As of July, Heaven and Hell have written at least six songs for the album.[7]

Writing[edit]

Iommi is in the process of composing guitar riffs for album, and the band has already got the basic idea of songs already.[3] According to Appice, the band scheduled a meeting for April 7, 2008 to share ideas.[8] Iommi has described the work so far as being "really good, pretty powerful".[7]
