Pikmin 3 for Wii? Or something else?

Recently, I've noticed that many fans of Nintendo's Pikmin series are clamoring about Shigeru Miyamoto's "announcement" of a tentatively-titled "Pikmin 3" game for the Wii. Now why are you all going and doing that? All Miyamoto said was "we're making Pikmin." Did he say that it was going to be on the Wii? The DS? Heck, the DSi? And has nobody else but me noticed that they also announced the New Play Control! series for the Wii - with both Pikmin games in tow? Knowing Nintendo, Miyamoto could've been, and probably was, referring to the New Control Play! versions of the first two games. People continue to jump to conclusions about this "confirmed" Pikmin 3 game when there is absolutely no proof that the series is going to get a new iteration on the Wii or DS at all other than the fanbase for the game. I would say Nintendo will probably make Pikmin 3 once they've seen how people react to the New Play Control! versions of Pikmin and Pikmin 2.

UPDATE: Thank you for clarifying this, IGN. Looks like Pikmin 3 really has been "announced" as a separate game from the New Play Control! versions of Pikmin and Pikmin 2. Can't wait to see what sort of stops Nintendo will pull out for this new game.
