On the Purim:

One of the most striking things that comes to mind is the name Vashti. Vashti means according to Rabbi's 'Beautiful body'. The name therefore corresponds to the name Atossa which in the Persian means 'Beautiful body'. Ahasuerus is a word meaning Xerxes. Xerxes simply means Ruler. This could mean any number of Persian kings. My theory is that the Book of Esther was written against the Persian lineage around 351BC. It reflects a complete disdain for the original 'pure blooded' Persian king Darius I and his wives. Darius married a Persian commoner as his first wife. His next two wives were two daughters of Cyrus: Atossa and artystone. Atossa was the first known case of mastitis (Breast Cancer) and covered herself up so people wouldn't see her breast cancer. Artystone means 'pillar of truth' and was Cyrus Daughter to the Egyptian princess and the half sister of Atossa. The Purim, written in 351BC was intended as an insult to origination of the lineage of Persian Emperors from the time of Darius the Great. It unfolds at the time Darius moves the seat of the Persian thrown to Susa (after quelling the Elamite revolt).
