User:Phatcat68/Myths Debunked page

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

These are several myths that I have added the truth about (most of these myths are debunked using the King James Version of The Bible).

Myths & Truths[edit]

  • Truth:
  • There are no curses. Better teams and the lack of the Red Sox to put it together when necessary kept them from winning the World Series for over 80 years. Trading Babe Ruth may have kept them from winning when he was playing, but it was not a curse.

  • 2
  • Myth:
  • God hates Gays and Lesbians
  • Truth:
  • God also hates those that shave their beards and work on sunday.

  • 3
  • Myth:
  • Wiccans worship Satan.
  • Truth:
  • Many wiccans infact do believe in jesus as a prophet of God but also believe in a Goddess which, according to Christian mythology, is embodied by Sophia.
  • 4
  • Myth:
  • There are many ways to heaven (Mormons, Muslims, Catholics, Jehovah's Witnesses, etc.)
  • Truth:
  • If such a heaven exists, yes. Those who say Jesus Christ is the only way are completely discounting christianity's predecessor Judaism.

  • 5
  • Myth:
  • Hell will be one big party with everybody's friends there.
  • Truth:
  • Hell only exists to give validity to the churches claims. It's not the promise of heaven that makes people devout, but rather, the fear of hell.

  • 6
  • Myth:
  • It is OK for Christians to celebrate Halloween.
  • Truth:
  • Any Christian who decorates a christmas tree is ok to celebrate hallowe'en

  • 7
  • Myth:
  • UFO's, Bigfoot, Nessie, aliens, etc. exist and have supernatural power.
  • Truth:
  • No one knows and the idea of supernatural power is rediculous.

  • 8
  • Myth:
  • Satan is as powerful as God.
  • Truth:
  • Irrelevent, as both may or may not exist depending on who you are and what you believe in.

  • 9
  • Myth:
  • There are good and bad witches.
  • Truth:
  • Just as there are good and bad people on earth. Truth be told, most witches do not practice anything that even remotely resembles the average person's perception of witchcraft.

  • 10
  • Myth:
  • Some people are too bad to get saved and follow Jesus.
  • Truth:
  • We are all sinners but Jesus died for all of our sins. Nobody is too bad to be saved because of God's mercy and grace. If not for His mercy and grace, none of us could be saved but He is so full of grace and mercy that anybody can be saved. Depending on what you believe

  • 11
  • Myth:
  • Jesus was just a great prophet.
  • Truth:
  • Depending on what you believe, he is either just a prophet or he is the messaiah. The Abrahamic religions really only differ in the way they recognize jesus' devine role.
  • 12
  • Myth:
  • People can work their way to heaven.
  • Truth:
  • (See #10's answer)

  • 13
  • Myth: People who do homosexual acts in porn movies but claim to be straight are not homosexual.
  • Truth:
  • That's up for those people to decide.

  • 14
  • Myth: People like me saying that homosexuality is sin is a hate crime.
  • Truth: In and of itself, no. That's your right to free speach. However, such heavy words so lightly thrown perpetuates hate crimes and thus approves of them.

  • 15
  • Myth: Everybody who claims to be a Christian is a Christian.
  • Truth: Only those who follow Jesus Christ and His teachings in The Bible are really Christians. Jesus said Himself that not all that make that claim really are. He also said we are known by our fruits...by our actions.

  • 16
  • Myth: Psychis, fortune tellers, tarot card readers, channellers, etc. have a supernatural power to see the future and can predict some things and can know things without being told.
  • Truth: First of all, tarot isn't anything supernatrual at all. It's based off of a carefully constructed idea of the collective unconscious and the importance of archetypes. As far as psychics and other fortune tellers go, I've had many describe their (abeit questionable) abilities as a gift from God. I've even known some who read for free because they so strongly feel that they do not want to exploit such a gift.
  • Truth: That statement is just as ignorant as saying all homosexuals are hated by god.

I will add more as time permits

  • This is not a self glorification page, it is a God glorification page!
