Quotes I enjoy[edit]

"Tell me how you will measure me, and then I will tell you how I will behave. If you measure me in an illogical way, don't complain about illogical behavior." - Eliyahu M. Goldratt, The Haystack Syndrome (1990)

“Expect nothing and accept everything and you will never be disappointed.” - Laurence Overmire

"Abandon hope all ye who enter here." - Dante Alighieri, Inferno

"It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt." - Mark Twain, Abraham Lincoln, Maurice Switzer, the Bible, and many others

"If you find yourself in a hole, stop digging" - The law of holes

"Having a strong opinion is much more important than having an informed one." - John Green, The Anthropocene Reviewed maybe?

"Brevity is the soul of wit." - William Shakespeare, Hamlet

"As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1" - Mike Godwin, Godwin's law

"Strategy requires thought, tactics require observation." - Max Euwe

"If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear." - George Orwell

"He who can, does. He who cannot, teaches." - George Bernard Shaw, Man and Superman

Just a fun little comic about academic papers.[1] Posted as an excerpt of Science Fictions by Stuart J. Ritchie on Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal

My Endorsements[edit]

  • Whaa! I'm a whinny Socialist, and nobody believes my lies on Wikipedia. I'll censor you, I'm a commie rat. I blame everything on climate change. We evolved from Monkeys, I want free health care even if it isn't free, as long as my politicians raise taxes and steal from me I don't care. Whaaa! I want Socialism, but don't even know what it means. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:9460:5A40:38C2:3762:6F9A:917D (talk) 20:14, 20 September 2018 (UTC) [2]
  • Is left wing HACK - PackMecEng really a GRAND WIZARD in the KKK. You'd think so based on him trying to run interference for them! lol 73.145.171.0 (talk) 23:40, 1 February 2019 (UTC)[3]
  • Probably Jimbo's page is a place where people can be fairly spontaneous, but to post a completely toxic and at the same time completely vague attack on another user, such as this, is beyond the pale even there. This is a personal attack warning. Bishonen | tålk 17:52, 7 July 2020 (UTC).[4]
  • PackMecEng, I hope you realise you are supporting whistles towards vigilante lynchings here. Ceoil (talk) 03:07, 30 August 2020 (UTC)[5]

Gifts[edit]

Rubles for you!
Several members of the Russian Editing Team have complained about slow payments. @MONGO: is even facing eviction! Vlad asked me to forward you some spending money until your regular salary resumes. He thinks it's a snafu with the new direct deposit system. – Lionel(talk) 06:43, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
Hello! Lionelt has given you a delicious Chick-Fil-A sammie for finding the EPA report at Presidency of Donald Trump. You see, these things promote WikiLove and hopefully this has made your day better. Spread the WikiLove by giving someone else a delicious Chick-Fil-A sammie! Enjoy! – Lionel(talk) 06:37, 27 June 2018 (UTC)

Time To Spread A Little
Happy Holiday Cheer!!
I decorated a special kind of Christmas tree
in the spirit of the season.

What's especially nice about
this digitized version:
*it doesn't need water
*won't catch fire
*and batteries aren't required.
Have a very Merry Christmas – Happy Hanukkah‼️

and a prosperous New Year!!

🍸🎁 🎉
Thank you for continuing to make Wikipedia the greatest project in the world. I hope you have an excellent holiday season. Lightburst (talk) 23:47, 21 December 2019 (UTC)
The Teamwork Barnstar
I really appreciate how we were able to discuss and cooperate to produce the RFC on DOY & PCR. Even though we have opposing views on the question, it was a civil and collegial effort, and I enjoyed working with you on it. Schazjmd (talk) 15:46, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
Stackable WTF blocks
You are the recipient of a WTF Block
Remember how much fun you had playing with blocks as a kid?
Now that you're a mature adult, you can collect blocks with adult
letters, and they're not only stackable, they're collectable.

When is a Wikipedia project a WikiProject?

The term "WikiProject" is used for projects created for the purpose of managing a specific family of information within Wikipedia. For example, Wikipedia:WikiProject Economics organises articles related to Economics, including economic terms, theories, and economists.

A WikiProject is a resource to help coordinate and organize article writing. Its attached talk page is a convenient forum for those interested in a particular project. WikiProjects can also have associated Portals.

Some projects, like the Tip of the day project, coordinate internal Wikipedia processes rather than article content directly (though not all of these use the term "WikiProject").
