Background[edit]
Ruth is a Master's Degree student at Michigan State University in the Telecommunications, Information Studies and Media Department. Her major is Information, Policy and Society. Her advisor is Johannes M. Bauer. Her desire is to be able to help utilize the potential of the internet-based educational solutions to better help adults who are returning to post-secondary education and marginalized populations.She completed her undergraduate work at Northwood University in Computer Information Management. She also has degrees in Web Design and Creative Writing from Lansing Community College. She works as a graduate writing assistant at Michigan State University's Writing Center as well as working at Lansing Community College in the Writing Center and designs web sites. She has worked for many years in education and communication. Her interests include photography and travel.
Ruth is currently enrolled in TC 850 at Michigan State University. We are exploring different aspects of Telecommunications Theory.
Focus of Studies[edit]
Her focus of research is how to develop and improve the human-computer interaction in the delivery of educational materials, as well as how to use the force of networking to improve the educational experience at the post-secondary level. Added Category to Article[edit]
Survived being deleted by major Wikipedia editor. He had found a duplicate entry I didn't know got posted. It is interesting to see the amazing attention to detail that is often demonstrated on articles. I think that the DYK nomination brought it to attention of editors. The amount of articles being posted and reviewed every day is actually rather staggering. Compounding this by how many people view the articles is...running out of superlatives.
Posted Article and Nominated for DYK[edit]
On April 15th posted my article on Minority Ownership. Read about the nomination process, wrote and posted the hook, posted the nomination, reviewed another article. Actually had to spend several hours going through articles and then checking sources and citations. I can see how easy it is to post on Wikipedia, but how very difficult to stay on and mostly how difficult to get to the DYK status. The que of waiting articles is amazing--and overwhelming. The power of user generated content is exponential to what even scores of trained professionals could do each day.
Further Analysis: VanGogh[edit]
Posted on the Talk page. -- For Vincent VanGogh's 'Road with Cypress and Star The brushstrokes from this period are very developed and bold. The vivid colors within the colors add depth and meaning. The flowing lines of the pathway are reminiscent of a river, which would support the theory that this is more of an ode to the sense of impending death. The cypress not only divides the sky from the symbols of old and new, it also divides the land. On the left is the field, ripe with a crop ready for harvest. The motion of the travelers is forward and to the right, it is like they are moving forward towards the future, even though behind them is the overwhelming forces of nature and fate. Suggestions for Improvement of Article: Art History[edit]

I agree that Freud and Jung's concepts would be better served to their specific pages or perhaps a topic of art and psychoanalysis. I think that sticking to the main researchers who focused in the study of art history, or the major movements of art would better serve the public as they seek to learn more information about the topic. I would like to see the Divisions by Period section first and have it much more developed and then the Historical Developments section after would be more logical. This is a huge topic and hard to know where to begin. I admire all the work already done on the project. It would be great to see it continue to move forward and remove any of the questionable citations. The topics and points made for current research and factors of change are very notable, but citations would make it more substantive. Also, some discussion of the implications for factors of change would be good. There are other articles that deal more in depth with these issues and it would be nice to link them together for users who want to find out more about these different factors. Overall, my kudos for all those who have worked so hard on this article. This is a field that is changing constantly and the research for improving HC Interaction is essential for increasing productivity and ease of use.
It would also be interesting to include some of the academic findings on HCI and current trends in how this improves usability in both educational and business applications.

Super Bowl XLVI - Advertisements[edit]

Since there is often a great deal of competition over the advertisements during the Super Bowl, would it be helpful to put the major sponsors who did buy ad time. Or, perhaps better yet it would be good to look at the general tone of the ads- the predominant types of ads- e.g., The beer commercials were more of a light-hearted theme focusing on camaraderie rather than the focus on patriotism of a few years ago. There was an undercurrent of overcoming even in difficult times in some of the advertisements (e.g. the pick-up trucks and 2012), which may reflect a sensitivity to the economic conditions that many viewers are going through. Overall, dogs seemed to be featured in many ads.
Just some ideas. I agree with the previous comment that listing those who didn't advertise is rather needless. Often broadcasters turn down ads that don't fit the general mood they want to convey for the whole event. They know they will sell the time even if they turn down one advertiser.
