Faozan Rizal (born in Tegal, 1973; age 50–51 years) is an Indonesian cinematographer and film director. His name has become known in the Indonesian film industry since directing the film Habibie & Ainun starring Reza Rahardian and Bunga Citra Lestari (2012). Previously, Faozan was mostly behind the scenes, working with Hanung Bramantyo as a cinematographer and director of photography.

Faozan Rizal studied cinematography at the Jakarta Art Institute (IKJ). He has made many short and long films, both feature films and documentaries, to explore the rich textures of film and play with the tension between film and photography. He also makes dance films with Katia Engel and collaborates with the artist Andy Goldsworthy. Faozan Rizal's work shows humans and nature in a meditative silence. [1][2]
He has studied classical Javanese and Balinese dance, pursued an education in painting and then entered the film school: La Femis, Paris. Faozan Rizal's works have been featured in various international festivals such as the Indonesian Film Festival Singapore International Film Festival, the eKsperim[E]nto Film & Video Festival 2004 (Manila), the Cinemanila International Film Festival and the Emirates Film Competition.[3]
Faozan Rizal made his debut as an actor, cinematographer, and finally worked his way up to the director level. Apart from working on films, he also teaches at the Faculty of Photography, Television and Film at the Jakarta Art Institute.
His first feature-length film for the cinema as a director, Habibie & Ainun (2012), was not only technically and aesthetically successful but also gained tremendous commercial success. He remains active as a cinematographic director for various forms of film. [4][5]
