TheFaustFlick[edit]

TheFaustFlick is a 2017 short dark-comedy film written, produced and directed by G.A. Mercado. Starring Francisco Díaz, Milagros Durán and G.A. Mercado himself; the short film is expected to be expanded into a feature length project to shoot during 2017 and for release in November of the same year. The film´s screenplay is an adaptation of the theater play Un Fausto anda por la Avenida, written and published in 1979 by the Venezuelan playwright César Rengifo; such theater play is a Latin American adaptation of Goethe's Faust.

Plot[edit]

A novice Angel (Milagros Durán) is assigned to Faust (Francisco Díaz) on the same day of his day of his retirement day. The Angel and Faust are promtply visited by the Devil (G.A. Mercado) who wasted no time to flirt with the Angel. Meanwhile, Faust´s lavish daydream of him on a Cruise Ship trip at the Costa Concordia is ruined when he hears on the radio that Imperial Bank, where he worked for and saved all his life, has gone bankrupt and its president is nowhere to be found, presumably taking Faust´s lifetime savings.

Development[edit]

On March 26, 2016, while writing the screenplay Faust Goes Down The Street (Un Fausto anda por la Avenida), G.A. came across with the short film Code 8, which it had raised $288,138 in four days via Indiegogo. On July 14, 2016 G.A. finished writing the 90-page screenplay and on that same dame he gathered a small film crew at a local bakery and convinced them help him produce a short film version of the screenplay with the pseudonym 4F.

Filming[edit]

After a 10-week pre-production and a total crew of 25, the 2-page short film script was shot during the first two weekends of October 2016 in Valencia, Carabobo. On the first shooting day, G.A. re-named the project as TheFaustFlick. Daniel Venditti led the VFX Department from Buenos Aires, Argentina and March Riera developed all the Artwork from Italy. TheFaustFlick is scheduled to be released via Vimeo on January 24, 2017, as a short film teaser for a full-length feature. On the same day, G.A. Mercado is expecting to launch an Indiegogo campaign in order to fund the full-length feature.
