Andrew Joseph Maloney, Jr. (born October 6, 1931 Brooklyn, New York) was the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York. He was appointed by Ronald Reagan for 1986—1989 and by George H. W. Bush for 1989—1992.[4] During his tenure as US Attorney, Maloney prosecuted and obtained the conviction of Mafia boss John Gotti, who had avoided conviction in three previous trials.[5] In prior federal law enforcement roles, Maloney served as Assistant United States Attorney, Southern District of New York, Criminal Division under Robert Morganthau from 1962—1972, and as North East Regional Director of the Justice Department's Office of Drug Abuse Law Enforcement from 1972-74. Maloney is currently of counsel at Defeis, O'Connell & Rose P.C. in New York, NY.[6]
