The Welsh Youth Forum on Sustainable Development (commonly known as the WYFSD) is a youth forum in Wales dedicated to discussing and acting on issues related to sustainable development. The forum has three aims: education, empowerment and action. It is led entirely by young people aged under 25, and has an open membership policy.

Aims[edit]

Education[edit]

The WYFSD members write and perform workshops to groups of young people in schools, colleges and youth groups across the country. This is done through peer education, where the workshops are performed by young people to people of the same age.

Empowerment[edit]

Action[edit]

Once the young people are empowered enough to feel that they can do something, action takes place. This can be in the form of a bike ride, writing letters to or discussing with politicians and important decision-makers or other even peer-educating their friends about sustainable development issues.

Local groups[edit]

The WYFSD has three main groups in three different parts of Wales: one based in Aberystwyth, one in Bangor and one in Swansea.
