User:Balancer

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The username of Balancer was adopted with the intent to go looking for NPOV problems and solve them. This user has thus far not managed to significantly shrink the NPOV backlog, having helped neutralize POV problems for fairly few articles. He finds that a few articles, such as the ever-problematic Star Trek versus Star Wars article, tend to consume a great deal of time in the NPOVing process and even demand (!) chronic maintenance on a continuing basis and careful discussion with emotionally involved partisan editors.

In a few rare cases, NPOV problems may be solved with one or two judicious edits. Look for your easily fixed NPOV-disputed article today! Nothing will make you happier than helping shrink the enormous backlog of POV-imbalanced articles, which represented over 1 out of every 500 articles on Wikipedia as of the dawning of springtime of the year commonly identified as 2006. This ratio has changed little in all this time.

Balancer also enjoys copyediting and is willing to put time into making "clunky" sounding articles read as smooth and concise pieces of encyclopedic work, particularly articles which merely need clarification as a result of translation work that is mostly comprehensible, but not fluent. Balancer also enjoys making large articles full of redundant, irrelevant, repetitious, and meandering prose shrink to medium sized concise articles, when Balancer has time.

Balancer is also a big fan of the drive to eliminate linkspam, and strongly believes in keeping the pillar of Wikipedia:Consensus intact and out of the mud pit.
