Geek Girl is an organization that was started in March 2006 by Leslie Fishlock. It is an organization that acts as a technology resource for “the average gal, the beginner, the intermediate and even the advanced who wants to be involved.” The organization strives to empower women through making technology easy to understand and use for women of all ages. These services are provided entirely by women and promote an environment in which those with minimal technology experience can feel comfortable learning without judgement. Though the target audience tends to be female and the organization was founded on the goal to empower women, men are also encouraged to participate in any of the events or services the organization offers.
