Before making major changes to this template, kindly discuss here. Thank you! [[User:Merlaysamuel|Merlaysamuel]] ([[User talk:Merlaysamuel#top|talk]]) (talk) 17:49, 29 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Colors[edit]

Don't really care about whether or not the template should be here in the first place (would accept either decision) but I do think Merlay is right on the colors...Every major school template uses the schools colors, and white on dark blue is hardly unreadable. Nolelover Talk·Contribs 20:38, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia needs to cater for visually impaired as well as fully-sighted people. Different degrees of visual impairment can make it very difficult for people to read white text on a blue background. There is no good reason to use anything other than the default wikipedia template colours. The colour doesn't convey any extra information so its use is pointless. If other templates use colour then they too should be reverted to standard.--Bob Re-born (talk) 20:40, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Err...okay...I mean, good luck with that...you do know that colors are almost entirely accepted on articles about sports teams, schools and even commercial companies. It's not like Merlay just pulled this idea out of a hat...there's a lot of precedent. Plus, if white on blue is too much (and of course all this could be rendered moot by the TfD), is blue on white better? Nolelover Talk·Contribs 20:53, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
yes, I am all for removing colours, but I have given up when it comes to universities, teams, and schools. blue border on a white background would be high enough contrast. Frietjes (talk) 22:10, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Well consensus can change and I'm all for bringing this up at WP:SCHOOLS - universities and sports teams I don't really care about. Right now though what I'm not seeing is a compelling reason to have this particular template in anything but default wikipedia colours. --Bob Re-born (talk) 22:06, 4 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I don't quite understand this...schools, teams and even companies all use colors...why wouldn't we? Although I really don't have the time to hunt through pages and pages or archives I think we can assume that the same reasons that your objections don't stick there apply here as well. Nolelover Talk·Contribs 01:45, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
WP:NAVBOXCOLOUR - seeing as it is common enough practice to have its own link I guess I'm OK with the colour --Bob Re-born (talk) 02:33, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
But I would agree with you that we want a good color combo...what do you think would be best? Nolelover Talk·Contribs 03:00, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Template stays[edit]

This is to inform all that two admins have seen this template and have approved it with the original colours. Cambridgesis (talk) 21:52, 4 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Which admins? When did they "approve"? --Bob Re-born (talk) 21:54, 4 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Can't you read the bottom two posts henriktalk and DS (talk). And thanks for your welcome message but this is my secondary account. It's been 9+ years since I've been editing Wiki and yes, I'm an admin.

Cambridgesis (talk) 21:59, 4 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

And therefore stop acting cheeky. Read the post yourself. Cambridgesis (talk) 22:00, 4 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
