Status[edit]

Status of the mid-section states need an update.--TheFEARgod (Ч) 20:40, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, Northland is still forming a government. Galmudug and Maakhir both have relative tunnel vision on two local issues, which noone else really cares about, so you won't hear much from them for the foreseeable future. Maakhir is working on the Las Qoray port project and a settlement on the Dharoor valley oil block dispute with Puntland, and Galmudug is fundraising for their own port project for Hobyo and dealing with the issue of piracy in Hobyo and Harardhere. Galmudug is quite poor and has very few resources, and the state has only real direct influence over south Galkacyo, Bandiradley and Gelinsoor, the rest of Galmudug is very loosely administered. Maakhir is slightly better off than Galmudug and has more resources and control over their state, but Maakhir also has a lot more external pressures being wedged as they are between Somaliland and Puntland. --Ingoman (talk) 22:33, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

States[edit]

I don't know if some of these can really be categorized as states, rather than regions with varying levels of autonomy. What is wrong with calling the template "Regions of Somalia", just as the main article on the subject does? TastyCakes (talk) 14:13, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • There's a {{Regions of Somalia}} template with different links from those here, so perhaps "De facto states of Somalia" is the right kind of title after all? Sardanaphalus (talk) 16:40, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The thing is some of them are disputed even as de facto states. Maakhir, for instance. No one has definitive or verifiable control of some areas, official or otherwise. TastyCakes (talk) 17:13, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • How about the "Disputed and..." I've just added to the title -- would that be a sufficient disclaimer..? Sardanaphalus (talk) 11:13, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm ya I think that's good. TastyCakes (talk) 13:10, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
