Proposed deletion

This seems very US-centric. Quite a few these aren't even made in America. It doesn't seem appropriate to have this on the Teletubbies article, for instance. And Sesame Street has been aired in just about every country in the world, as far as I'm aware. Any chance this template could be narrowed to just include the programmes that are actually made by PBS? Flowerparty 18:51, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

I've nominated it for deletion. Please add any comments to the discussion. Flowerparty 02:00, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

...shows created by and funded by local PBS affiliates.

There is no such thing as a "local PBS affiliate". Broadcast stations normally fall into three classes:

  • Affiliate stations are independent in ownership - the station doesn't own the network; the network provides programming but doesn't own the station. The vast majority of small/medium-sized US commercial stations fit this model.
  • Owned-and-operated stations are owned by the networks, typically in the largest markets (such as WCBS in New York)
  • PBS member stations reverse this model; the network is owned collectively by the PBS stations. As such, station and network are not independent of each other in ownership as an "affiliate station" and network would be.

The term "PBS affiliate" should therefore be replaced with "PBS station". --66.102.80.212 (talk) 17:28, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Removed information

I've just removed a lot of information that that was added to a request that was previously completed.[1] To the IP adding this information, there is no point modifying a previously completed request, regardless of whether it was fulfilled or denied or, as was the case here, the requested information was already included in the template. This template needs to be redesigned so as to show which programs are making new episodes (Arthur, FETCH! with Ruff Ruffman, etc.) and which programs are permanently ended (Dragon Tales, Clifford the Big Red Dog, etc.) --Noah¢s (Talk) 01:37, 16 July 2010 (UTC) ITV raj

ZOOM

ZOOM is no longer airing on any local PBS station or PBS Kids Sprout, and therefore, should have the asterisk (which states that ZOOM does air on a majority of PBS stations or on Sprout) removed. While there is no single "live" reference for this statement (There was once a statement from ZOOM's website in the Z-mail section that proves this, but it's gone as it is updated weekly, removing all previous versions. Believe me, I already checked the Wayback Machine, only goes up to August 1, 2008, but it was posted in mid-2009.), it can be observed by looking at a variety of PBS stations' websites and viewing their schedule. Fates of Big And Small & Lingo show

By extensive resaerch on the PBS website, I have found that "Lomax" is not showing on a huge majority of PBS-affiliated stations, nor on PBS Sprout. It may have been cancelled since it was aired orginally on December of 2008, but it is still seen on the PBS Kids website. For "It's a Big Big World", the series IS cancelled as there is no longer an active link on the PBS Kids website; in addition, the page having the show says that it is cancelled. This is just to give info on the fate of the shows and to update the template. Excelsior30 (talk) 22:04, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

Semi-protected edit request on 21 September 2016

The list of PBS Kids programs is slightly incorrect; in April 2016, The Fred Rogers Company said they have discontinued production of "Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood" and "Odd Squad"; also, WGBH discontinued production of "Martha Speaks" back in 2014. "The Cat In The Hat Knows A Lot About That" has also been out of production since 2014, and "Super Why" has been gone from production in even longer, since 2011. That would be great if you could make these changes. Thanks. 65.175.139.12 (talk) 00:11, 21 September 2016 (UTC)

Try again - I know of no source that Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood has been discontinued from production and I don't think it's likely. When I Googled it, the only "source" I could find was here. Because of that, I plan to double-check the other corrections requested there as well. And next time, please request a source before making such edits.
