Please replace the current code with this version in the sandbox. It doesn't change the template's function or output; it just allows the style parameter to be used without being named. (Surely testcases etc not necessary..?) Sardanaphalus (talk) 10:05, 25 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit protected}} template. Why do you want a positional parameter? These are not intuitive: and the normal way to set custom styling is through a named parameter. --Redrose64 (talk) 13:08, 25 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Never mind. If you're not happy to run with the idea, I suspect a consensus established by request would deliver the same result. On a wider tack, I wonder how many people that easy "please establish a consensus" line has batted away... Has "WP:BRD" died? Sardanaphalus (talk) 15:15, 25 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
WP:BRD does not apply to editing protected pages. Please see WP:PER, particularly the points under "Procedure". --Redrose64 (talk) 16:45, 25 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I was tempted to return the {{Information page}} I saw there with a little more musing on consensus, but it's more important that you continue your contributions – especially administrative and advisory – elsewhere. That and your attention is appreciated. Sardanaphalus (talk) 17:18, 26 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Example of malfunctioning page?[edit]

Neveselbert, you reverted without a link to any malfunctioning pages. The current version, with div tags, is causing Linter errors when this template is wrapped inside a set of <span>...</span> tags. I changed it to use span tags because the documentation clearly says that it is for in-line content.

Can you please provide an example of a page that was malfunctioning when this template used span tags? Thanks. – Jonesey95 (talk) 12:42, 9 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Jonesey95: See diff here. Neveselbert (talk · contribs · email) 16:13, 9 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, I don't see Linter errors with either version. I do see a slight difference in the line spacing; both look fine to me, but I will defer to your aesthetic sense as long as there is no technical error there. There must be some other additional template that is involved, where Longlink is wrapped inside a template that uses a span tag. I'll keep my eyes out for the errors, and I'll post here if I can't figure them out. – Jonesey95 (talk) 17:43, 9 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
