Characters in the template[edit]

My opinion on the notable major characters of the Arkham game: just because they are playable, doesn't mean they are considered important to the Arkham series. Should we list the officer who is playable at the start of the Arkham Knight, just because he is playable at one point too?

  • Harley Quinn is arguably the second most important villain in the series after Joker. She appeared in all four games and also a major protagonist in Assault on Arkham; being playable in Arkham Knight is just besides the point.
  • Barbara Gordon is present in all four main games. Basically she is Batman's main supporting character as Oracle; her Batgirl identity is a minor footnote in the Arkham continuity.
  • The Riddler should also be listed because the Riddler puzzles/trophies have been a constant element in all four main titles, and he also played a major role in Assault on Arkham.
  • Catwoman is the secondary protagonist in Arkham City, had a substantial supporting role in Arkham Knight, and is the main villain of Origins Blackgate. It's not the same as other Batman allies like Robin and Nightwing, who were insignificant plot-wise before Arkham Knight.
  • Jim Gordon is also present in all four instalments. His importance to the Arkham series is debatable so inclusion is open to discussion.
  • Jason Todd is confirmed as the secret identity of the Arkham Knight since the game's release. I believe the Arkham Knight persona is not notable enough to deserve its own page to begin with. There is a proposed merger of the two articles which has now reached consensus, and even though he is the big bad of the video game which already bears the title of the same name, I don't think we should list him on the template. 14:33, 27 July 2015 (UTC)
If we go with major playable characters (main story and DLC), that takes out any opinions in the matter, as you have exampled above in stating why you believe certain characters should or should not appear. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 15:43, 27 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I think Favre's idea is probably the easiest to go with as it removes any ambiguity and arguments over what people think should be included. Darkwarriorblake / SEXY ACTION TALK PAGE! 21:37, 27 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If we stick to whoever is playable in the games...technically Jim Gordon and Azrael are playable at some point in Arkham Knight. Compare them to Deathstroke who wasn't even playable in the story missions for Arkham Origins? The other thing I should note is that the Batman: Arkham series has expanded beyond just the video games...think of the spin-off comics and the Assault on Arkham film. I added Azrael. Gordon is not a major playable character, in a similar style to the cop in the opening. Most of the characters listed can adequately cover the other media for the series now. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 03:56, 2 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
