Length is now 5370 characters which is long enough to qualify. I did not find any copyvios with with the tool or with google searches of random blocks of text and date is ok. For the record, I also checked the google tranlate version of the Chinese wiki article on this topic and there are significant differences in their content. However, I did notice the article did not mention very much information about Macau's interaction with the IOC and what information was in the article about the topic is mostly from 2008 or older. A quick search for info found this article from October 2012 which provided a different view on the possibility of successfully joining the IOC than the quote from the 'Status' section of the article. The 2008 quotation seems pretty optimistic to me, but the new quote says "While we have strived for over 12 years, the reality is that we can barely succeed”, he said. Chui advised people to “put aside” the desire, “that would be more realistic." Given this discrepancy and just in general since the hook is about the topic, I think it would be a good idea to add more information about Macau's attempt to join the IOC if some can be found. I will try to find what information I can in English (although I might not get to it today; I have some other stuff I'm working on at the moment), but if someone who speaks Chinese could look as well, I'm pretty sure there would be a lot more info about this in Chinese than English. I also have a few questions about random stuff in the article: 1) the article mentions the "2nd Asian Martial Arts Tournament in Hong Kong" but not when and I can't find this information. Could you add it if you can? I tagged the location with {{when}}. 2) Can you provide the original quotation found in the Status section? Even if its in Chinese (which I do not speak), I could use google translate to verify that my attempt to clean up the English translation is still accurate to what he actually said. 3) A google image search for the image (File:MEAG_OC.jpg) does not have any results other than ones related to the Commons file, but the image page lists http://agostinho.exblog.jp/ as attribution in the license. I looked through it though, but I can find the Commons image on there. Can you clarify why that blog is linked to by the image? If you need any help or if I'm not clear with what I'm saying, please let me know. :-) Thingg⊕⊗ 03:41, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
  • Thank you for your attention and a double assisting for the article. In fact, the chinese version is also created by me, for now, I checked the latest version is kind of incorrect but I cannot edit since I am being banned for any editing already. In here, I have to say sorry that I had made some mistake with the chinese version since i made mistake for that. I discover those mistakes (such as the establish date) is incorrect when I edit the English version. Therefore I put on the correct information in the Information.
1) For the quote section in the "Status" is correct as that is reported and I also read the new report that you provide. First of all, I think we need to see that case by case for the article. For the history with Macau and Hong Kong is different that Hong Kong was a colony of United Kingdom but Macau was part of territory of Portugal which is not a colony in the view of the constitution of Portugal Government. Thus, Portugal did not get much effort Macau to be member of IOC (the countries that were territory, or colony, of Portugal, was not in membership of IOC). In addition, Portuguese Govt desired to let Macau independent (such as Angola) or under control by mainland Chinese Gov with the influence of the revolution in 1974 but finally sovereignty handover in 1999. Thus, the case of Hong Kong and Macau cannot be talk in same case by this point. On the other hands, the NOCs of Hong Kong and Macau were established in 1951 and 1989 and this cannot be another measurement for the application. For little sharing that England has the "England national football team" but this team cannot join Olympics by the name "England" but under British Olympic Committee; another sharing is Scotland would have her own NOC if residents of Scotland vote for independent next year otherwise will be part of British Olympic Committee.
2) I believe that the new report is having some 'errors' that Macau Olympic Committee was established in 1989 and howcome she apply to be member of IOC in 1986? Another point that is the report is having the point of view of mainland China that the name of the NOC for Taiwan is "Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee" that is formally is the China Olympic Committee (Republic of China) and she celebrated her 90 anniversary last year (ref here) thus cannot that be join in 1960. (See also: Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee).
3) I added back the hosting year of the 2nd Asian Martial Arts Tournament in Hong Kong already (thanks for remind). For another request for the link of the "status" is added back already (sorry for missed putting in). For the last inquiry, the owner of the photo, or photo taker, is me.   • Yeah I understand what you are saying about that link I posted and I agree that it is not reliable if it made such an obvious mistake as getting the year Macau applied for membership in the International Olympic Committee wrong. Also, it does look like there is not much information available about the topic after 2008, at least in English, so I have struck that from my first comment. The only thing I noticed that I still am not sure about is the date it was founded. I noticed you changed it back to October 22, 1987, but unless I'm really reading it wrong, http://www.macauolympic.org/en/about/2013-05-29/1.html says "established in 1987 December 22nd". Can you explain why you are saying October? Thingg⊕⊗ 00:20, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
  • Oops.. As in the Chinese version written that 'established on October 22, 1987' (於一九八七年十月二十二日成立), thus I believe that is true and I edit with October. However, now discover that you provide me in the English version which is in December. For my view, I think the editor of the official website may be having a typo that should be written as '於一九八七年十二月二十二日成立' which is missed '二' this word. Now, I am thank you for your assisting and changed back to December. --TINHO 18:09, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
  • Ok thanks for checking the date and fixing it. Length/expansion, date, and NPOV are good. Article is cited and sources are good. Hook fact is cited. My ALT is really just a rewording of the originally proposed hook, so I don't think it should count as me reviewing my own hook (if the promoter disagrees, I'm cool though). Should be good to go.
