Sabina Puertolas[edit]

  • ... that when soprano Lucy Crowe became ill, her replacement, Sabina Puertolas was found and had to fly from Spain to London the next day with only 3 hours to rehearse before the Royal Opera production?
    • ALT1:... that Sabina Puertolas an operatic soprano was located in Spain and performed the next day at the Royal Opera in London performing as Gilda in Rigoletto?

  • original editor's note: I found this story to be very charming. The Royal Opera is a very prestigious opera house. Amateurs do not perform here. Lucy Crowe is very famous. She was suddenly ill with a throat infection and they needed a replacement. Her role as Gilda is a big role, one of two main characters in Rigoletto. How are you going to find a replacement to perform the next day and a good soprano? Other possibilities didn't have a British visa or were singing elsewhere. They found Puertolas, who sang as Gilda in Chile before. She had to re-learn all the songs and fly to London. To everyone's delight, she performed beautifully even to the skeptics. Bravo! If only I could write a hook to convey this! Vanguard10 (talk) 03:54, 15 January 2018 (UTC)
  • @Vanguard10: I will review this article. No doubt that is a very good sentiment. However, there are some basic problems with this nomination, which should be fixed ASAP. epicgenius (talk) 19:06, 18 January 2018 (UTC)

  • (epicgenius (talk) 19:06, 18 January 2018 (UTC)) I have proposed ALT2:
  • ...that when soprano Lucy Crowe became ill, her replacement Sabina Puertolas only had 3 hours to rehearse before performing in the prestigious Royal Opera?
Thank you. Changes include lengthening the article with additional pertinent facts, not fluff. Redid some passages which were a list to lower the copyright vio detector, but did so in good faith, not trickery. Considered the suggested ALT2, which I find very good, and added a phrase but it is still 172 characters, under the 200 character limit with room to spare.

ALT2B:

  • ...that when soprano Lucy Crowe became ill, her replacement Sabina Puértolas came from Spain and only had 3 hours to rehearse before performing in the prestigious Royal Opera?

  • ALT2B sounds fine as well. Thank you four your changes. This nomination is good to go now. epicgenius (talk) 14:48, 19 January 2018 (UTC)
  • Sorry, but this nomination is not "good to go" because the references section contains bare urls, which must be formatted before the article is eligible. Gatoclass (talk) 07:44, 20 January 2018 (UTC)
Fixed the bare urls. Vanguard10 (talk) 23:20, 20 January 2018 (UTC)
The article still contains one bare url. Gatoclass (talk) 08:02, 21 January 2018 (UTC)
Thank you. The article did contain one but not any more. Fixed! Did you know? (ha ha, DYK) Vanguard10 (talk) 19:30, 21 January 2018 (UTC)
  • Hi, I came by to promote this, and formatted all the refs. Footnote 3 is a dead link; can you find another source for that information? Yoninah (talk) 23:44, 30 January 2018 (UTC)
  • I replaced the dead url. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 07:35, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
