The article is new enough, long enough with appropriate citations. The hook is cited within the article and properly formatted. No copyvio. The image is relevant to the article and in public domain. GTG. Mchuedem (talk) 18:43, 28 January 2016 (UTC)
Mchuedem - not all elements of the hook have cites at the end of the relevant article sentences. I have also rephrased the hook a bit to make it clearer. - I went through the article and did a copyedit. I also added tags for questionable statements. This is not your usual quality of work, @Nvvchar:. The lead is full of unnecessary citations; there is some confusion in the lead as to whether it's "Mysore district" or "Mysore state"; and there's a lot of repetition between the second paragraph of History and the paragraph under Production. I think the statistics should be moved to their own section. When I came across the questionable "fact" that "Considering its spiritual connotation, Solomon's Temple was built with sandalwood", I looked down at the references and saw that you are quoting less-than-scholarly works (Your Complete Introduction to Traditional Witchcraft? The Perfumery and Essential Oil Record Year Book & Diary?). The Solomon's Temple page makes no mention of sandalwood, and I doubt that Judaism gives the wood any "spiritual" importance. I think this page is in need of an overhaul before this DYK nomination can proceed. Yoninah (talk) 20:37, 1 February 2016 (UTC)
- Yoninah Thanks for the review. As it was a book reference I thought it was ok to use. I have now restructured the article, removed the objectionable references and the related texts. I have also added from other reliable texts. In the lead, I have added another ref which says it is the Mysore district. Please see if it is now in order.Nvvchar. 09:20, 3 February 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you, @Nvvchar:, that's much better. I added a little more from the Wilson source. Now, as to the hook. Could you shorten it/sharpen it so it focuses on only one or two things? - I'm afraid that's not entirely accurate; the species of wood is one of the best varieties, not the oil. Also, the ref to Pitman doesn't have a source, and you need a cite for the statement that the sandalwood oil produced in Mysore accounts for 70% of the world's sandalwood production. Created Jan 26, nom Jan 28/new enough. 3106 char/long enough. Neutral. No apparent close paraphrasing. Citations throughout, though you need to fix the ref to Vivekananda which points nowhere.
