Lysistrata Jones[edit]

  • Comment: This show officially opens on Broadway on December 14, so could we get this reviewed and posted on that date?

  • The article is new enough and I did not find any copyvios (although I was not able to access the "About" page on the show's official site; maybe it is temporarily down). However, there are a few issues that need to be addressed:
  1. A DYK article requires at least 1500 characters of readable prose. That excludes elements like lists, headings and references. By my count, the article is still about 100 characters short.
  2. Although the article is generally well referenced, the hook fact is actually not fully referenced. I don't expect it would be a problem to fix, but there is currently no inline reference for the fact that the musical is based on Aristophanes' Lysistrata nor that Lysistrata Jones is actually a Broadway play.
I would also suggest including the title of the play in the hook, e.g., ALT1 ... that the ancient Greek drama Lysistrata by Aristophanes has been adapted as a Broadway musical about a basketball team and its cheerleaders titled Lysistrata Jones?, but I don't think this is essential. Even without the issues noted above, I doubt this article could be promoted to DYK on December 14, as there are already a number of articles in the DYK queue and it normally takes a few days or even a week or two before an article gets promoted, but hopefully the play will still be running if and when the article does make DYK. I've fixed #2 above. Reference 1 was supposed to cover the first two sentences, but I've made the point more explicit. I'll work on #1 later today - with the official opening tonight there will be lots of news articles with facts that I can interpolate in to the article. I like your alternate hook better, so let's run with that. I realized after I posted the request that getting it up on the 14th would be a bit of a stretch. Thanks! I've just added a plot summary. I think it's up to about 1,900 characters now.Fryede (talk) 20:03, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
  • Length and hook refs now good. I also was able to check the official website for copyvios and found none. This should now be good to go, although I would recommend another small tweak to the hook wording (since the play's title and not the cheerleaders' title is Lysistrata Jones, i.e., ALT2 ... that the ancient Greek drama Lysistrata by Aristophanes has been adapted as a Broadway musical titled Lysistrata Jones about a basketball team and its cheerleaders?
