General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
QPQ: Done.

Overall: A fine and well-written article - thank you for this - I think it should be offered for GA. Meanwhile, there is only one small issue. The hook checks out, but it is not written out exactly as in the hook, in the article, and it was a bit of an effort for me to find the point in the text when you actually say that Johannssen was general manager of "the United States men's national ice hockey team" with a link and the citation right next to it. What you actually say in the article is that he was "general manager of the United States national team for the 2018 Winter Olympics" without a link to that team, although you do have the citation directly after that. OK, the hockey fans will know which team it refers to, but DYK is for members of the public who are browsing, and we need them to be able to find the hook in the article easily. So please could you write out that part of the hook in the article with a citation next to it? (The handing out shoes bit is OK.) Once that small detail is resolved, this should be good to go. • I wish to contemplate this for a few days. I am concerned that the "small detail" mentioned by the reviewer is not ideal. Flibirigit (talk) 12:11, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
  • I'm still thinking and have not forgotten about the nomination. Flibirigit (talk) 22:31, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
  • @Flibirigit: Because you are hesitating, I am worrying that maybe there is a misunderstanding here? All I'm asking is that you replace the phrase, "general manager of the United States national team for the 2018 Winter Olympics" with "general manager of the United States national team for the 2018 Winter Olympics", which is the exact same wording but with one extra link which brings it into line with the hook. I hope that helps? Storye book (talk) 09:55, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
  • I took time to contemplate whether the additional wikilink was too much, or beneficial according to MOS:LINKONCE. I have made the change and proposed another hook below. Flibirigit (talk) 14:06, 12 January 2022 (UTC)
  • Thank you, Flibirigit. Good to go, with ALT1 preferred. Storye book (talk) 16:18, 12 January 2022 (UTC)
