Desideria Quintanar de Yáñez[edit]

  • Reviewed: Cognitive slippage

  • Article is new (moved to mainspace), long enough, has 0% copyright issues, and hooks are sourced. I personally like ALT1 the most. It is not as controversial as some of the statements Desideria and the LDS Church make. I copyedited some of the information in the article. Initially, the whole dream story came across as if the article was suggesting that Desideria "predicted" the future. I made it clear that she claimed she had a dream about the pamphlet. Let's remember that these are supernatural claims made by the LDS Church. The fact that she was supposedly "inspired" by such a dream is not controversial at all for the Main Page (in my opinion).
The first hook is catchy, but we tend to not put "the first" hooks on DYK (learned that just recently). NOTE: I put a few tags for a source that is unreliable and for page requests for a book, please make sure to address that so we can move forward for promotion. ComputerJA () 06:32, 29 May 2017 (UTC)
  • Hi ComputerJA, thanks for the review. This was a cooperative effort with a first-time Wikipedia editor. I agree that the inspired phrasing is more neutral--thank you for your edits.
  • I tried to get "no firsts" into the DYK rules a few months ago, but there was no consensus, so it is not a rule, it's just possibly more interesting to state something the person did. The Hickman source didn't have page numbers, but I was able to count pages to find one. I like putting page numbers in, but I wasn't aware that they were a requirement for DYK... is that true? I removed the source that was questionable, as there was already another source for it. Rachel Helps (BYU) (talk) 16:42, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
  • @Rachel Helps (BYU): You're welcome – it was a pleasure reading the article. I'm passionate about anything related to Mexico, so if you ever have other students write about anything Mexico-related topics and need a second pair of eyes, let me know.
As far as I know, the pages are not generally considered a requirement for DYK. One can make a case of requesting pages by citing Eligibility Criteria #4, which states that articles must conform to our policies of verifiability. Some editors may ask nominators to provide pages if the hook is cited with that source, however. I try to give thorough reviews (like a mini-GAs) whenever articles are short enough for me to read entirely (and especially if they are about Mexico!).
Article is ready for the Main Page! ComputerJA () 17:03, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
