About the reccently undone changes[edit]

About the reccently (and correctly) undone changes from Zürich–Affoltern am Albis–Zug railway line to S9 (ZVV).

Yes, S9 is definitely wrong. It should have read S5.

The confusion of line with service is a lost-in-translation result: In German Linie means service, the englisch line however is correctly translated into Strecke. So, it is my error.

  • Linie or (colloquially) Nummer (z.B. "Linie S5", or "Buslinie 3", "Bus Nr. 3") = service
  • Strecke = line

The German terms are used for any kind of transportation means of public service!

Thanks for clarifying that.
As far as the S9->S5 change, I had only just noticed the rather major changes to the Zürich S-Bahn lines at the end of last year, and I'm still building up to making the rather wide-sweeping changes needed to the S-Bahn article, the line articles and the station articles. Don't want to leave it half-done, so it needs to wait until I have a few hours free in my diary. -- chris_j_wood (talk)
